I have a us made super sawzall with quick change. it's so good I couldn't bring myself to buy any cordless sawzall until they released the "super" 2722 last year. We're FINALLY getting true corded power in M18 tools, what a time to be alive...

What portable stand are you guys using with your M18 table saws?

I have an extra Ridgid miter saw stand that I was thinking about using but I’m not sure if it will work.

I bought the M18 tanks saw stand since it folds up, fits perfectly and locks in place on the saw. I did not look into clamping the saw onto other stands. I don’t have a stand for my M18 miter saw. Actually I have a Ridgid folding wheeled stand but it is pretty bulky and I currently have an older craftsman miter saw on it. I need compactness in addition to portability since I don’t drive a truck or SUV.

got both the new gridiron heated jackets. normally i wear an XL (6' tall 180 lbs) and a large is perfect for anyone in the same boat. with the 2nd layer they are about equal to xl.

i wish i had known this but for some reason i couldnt find the gridiron shell only (the non water resistant but heavier duty and thicker for more insulation) separate.

i purchased the gridiron first with the rain shell and then found this out. so i ended up finding an open box of the complete jacket kit with battery so i now have two of the inner heated jackets . one for back up i guess. i will say the new jackets heat much quicker and have the charger built in to the battery holder.

i think this is the tool of the year for me . used 4 3.0 batteries two nights ago working in a wet and cold (30's to us cali folk is artic cold) with the rain cover and never have i been so happy.

Honestly MOST LED lights Milwaukee puts out are much too bright for a lot wrench work. I cant even use the majority of them around my motorcycles (talk about be blinded )

I find the old M12 stick and especially the swiveling M18 which stands on it base nicely my most useful two in the garage and they each have hanging hooks. And I did put a magnet on the M12 (but not the Milwaukee accessory one). Hanging the M12 Rover underhood isn't perfect and it is mainly directionally focused on one side or the other but it does light well the top of the motor on whatever side you put it on.

1000 lumen output and up... its a lot. A real lot And some go as high as 3000l (pivoting rover floodie and tower) Good for lighting up a room for drywall work, painting building outdoors like a deck at dusk etc. I find them great for all the unpowered old barns at work I lite em up like broadway. :D

The old but still popular hex lantern Rover I have two and the little M12 Rover I use the most along with the original M18 tower for my construction work.

But I keep saying how much I like that USB 2114 strong magnet 3 light modes and large carbineer clip I started keeping it right on my belt when for getting into the darkened barns and works great in the storage coolers too lighting really ***** in those

Yup smaller can be better :thumbup
Thank you and everyone for the feedback on the light options. I ended up pulling the trigger on the M12 Rover because I do only work under the car on jack stands :( , I figure i can always turn it down to to low or medium modes if it's too bright...and it was only $55 w/ free shipping on CPO. I'm actually pretty excited to try it out as I think it will be just what I'm after.

The 3-in-1 heated jacket kit - ( that ripstop one, is it gridiron, i dunno) the jacket that comes with that is the same as the non heated jackets you can buy separately. At least they were, the non hooded version anyway.. i have one of each - and the only difference is like the logo patch. I dunno if that helps u at all.

This 3 in 1 - https://milwaukeetool.com/Products-...ca/Gear/Heated-Gear/Heated-Jackets/251/251-20
And this non heated - https://milwaukeetool.com/Products/Work-Gear/Jackets/253

Are the same - with the exception of the logo patch, and i think one other really small thing i cant remember.

The Rigid stand. I also bought a second set of "mounts" for mine to swap between the mitre saw and the table saw. I rarely (if ever) need both for my DIY stuff anymore. Cost me $25 from Home Depot with a coupon a year or so ago. If I had a chance I would have grabbed a second Rigid stand at $99, but not available at HD online. lol

How is it being taller then normal table saw stands? I’m 6’-4” tall so I’m thinking I’ll be fine with the Ridgid miter saw stand.

But they couldn't make a mold for the speeds instead of that cheap *** sticker that just falls off

That "sticker" wasn't made to stay on the tool. I see your point but it's pretty easy to remember. Speed 1 is 10,000, then 5,000 increments except speed 4. 10K, 15K, 20K, & 24K.

The HD deal for M12 bandsaw and 4.0 has me considering one. Would it work well occasionally cutting 1” and 1.5” .80-.120 wall DOM? I know capacity is 1 5/8th.

Yeah it will cut that. I have taken off the shoe and used it to cut 1-1/2 sch 40 pipe in the walls. I think it was 1-1/2 might have been 2 inch. But before I took the shoe off wouldn’t even fit after removal of shoe is cut it but barely

Well wasn't THAT fortunate (for both of us :) )

Was clearing snow with my little Johnny Deere CUT a few hours ago we had got walloped with 18"-20" starting late yesterday afternoon and all thru the night. My driveway is a good 300 ft long and I was just starting from my garage door when I see the FED EX TRUCK out on the plowed town road. And I just knew it had to be my Black Friday M18 Oscillating Tool deal :D

That poor guy was getting ready to trudge all the way up the drive to the house in knee deep snow when I noticed him.

I waved :spit:

But really I was quickly able to navigate the entire distance with bucket down to grab my box

What a big box it was too had to lay it across the hood and between the loader arms to get back to the garage

Ok clue me in...

If a Stackout lower has it's own wheels...why do you need this dolly :eyecrazy:

Is it just meant to be used with stack of smaller the top boxes :headscrat

If the lower had 4 pivoting wheels no reason for that. I would prefer the dolly to a bottom, except the dolly kinda ***** and is to damn expensive (even though I own 3).

My garage packout collection is kinda finally complete. I have a lot elsewhere in the house also.

Now honestly I must be missin' something completely with that storage. And don't get me wrong here :D I think those hard side lockable and stackable cases are way cool especially for a work van or maybe a truck then to do a transport into a building generally over hard surfaces

And I really liked some posts I seen where someone had made a plywood cabinet with multiple shelves for bin storage in a garage (using the older style parts boxes I believe)

But all stacked like that it just seems like too much effort to get a tool out of a lower box :lol_hitti.

This is a weird one. FYI I know the tools are made of plastic. But my M12 Fuel hammer drill has a strong plasticky smell (not burning plastic). One day I was using it and noticed it blowing out the plastic smell from the vents. The whole drill has a strong plastic odor. Is that normal?

My impacts on the other hand don't have any smell to them. Neither do my other drills.

I have TWO M12 Fuel Hammer drills... one smells just like you say... works fine... the other doesn't smell...

I would describe it as plastic with an under note of electricity... not bad but noticeable... I almost warranty'd it but decided... it's working fine... just smells funny.

Forgot to mention. The one that smells is the GEN 2 Fuel Hammer drill

That is the smell. And yes it works fine otherwise.

Mine is a Gen 2 Fuel Hammer drill (M12) too. I wonder if it's a thing with those. I don't want to be the weirdo sniffing the drill at Homedepot.:lol_hitti

If it smells burnt then then something is wrong with it. If it is an impact and only smells burnt after using the impact a bit the grease in the impact mechanism might be in need of replacement. You might want to warranty it if it smells like burning on a regular basis.

I don't recall any of my Milwaukee tools have any noticeable smell but I have had other tools with a plasticky smell. I just went & smelled all of mine, no weird smells. Newest one I have is the angle die grinder. I have a 2nd gen fuel hammer drill also, it smelled good, still smells like weed a bit (from the last job I did). :bounce:

Edit: Oh my hammer drill is M18.

Air snake anyone? I am running out of Milwaukee tools to justify buying. I haven't bought a new red tool in almost 5 months and am going through some severe withdrawal. My lovely wife is somehow quite adept at clogging the toilet so am thinking life is too short for plungers... Should I be sad there is no M18 fuel version out yet?

I’d blow something up but that looks like a fun tool.

Okay the smallest M12 SDS is special buy deal right now...$20 less on the bare tool and "free" starter kit with the 4.0xc battery so $129 for all of it.

So quite a bit less than the Fuel Brushless version so now is it really okay for like drilling 20 year old concrete basement walls to mount some stuff with lets say 3/16"-1/4" sized tapcons? I have a shitload of them from some job long ago. I know SDS for concrete drilling is better all the way around. Can it easily outperform my M18 hammer drill for this task?

And lets refresh what is the difference between the MAX and the PLUS on these offerings anyhow :dunno:

It doesn't smell burnt ... it smells more plastic'y that rises to a level of... hmmm that's different. I'm not one to warranty a tool for a smudge in the chrome or a plastic fart. If i was concerned... it would be on the road to replacement...

My guess is it was manufactured in a different plant with a different lot of materials... that still work as the gen 1 and my other 25 m12 tools.

After you use a rotary hammer, you'll wonder why they even waste time making a hammer drill. Cleaner holes faster.

SDS Max is for making bigger holes with bigger machines. SDS Plus tool should take all your old SDS bits.

Brad Hammer vs Sledge hammer.

I wouldn't use a Sledgehammer to set a Brad

I wouldn't use my Bosch Rotary to put in a 1/4" Tapcon

I wouldn't use my Hammer drill to install a 4" long 5/8" Weejit anchor

Is there really a discussion of such things?

I think that statement was more been directed that at my joking post.

The old "2655 B" and the B is for ball pin, is out of warranty now. Still works a ok and it's been a seriously good tool even with me beatin on it like the proverbial redheaded stepchild :lol_hitti

Even with the newer options out now I would high consider replacing it again with the 2755-20 FYI that's pin version. Has different RPM speeds on the #1 and #2 modes over the now ring style "B"

Greasing the impacts has been a factory recommended service procedure though, but unless you're routinely heating it up a lot IMO many will never have to bother. Anyone ever notice grease around the anvils on some new ones...seems like they might be greasing them much more at the factory nowd they really seem to bleed out for while when you first start using one now :spit:

Hey fellas. Can you guys confirm if this is a date code of 2012? As I understand it 6th & 7th digit is the year and 8th & 9th is the week of the year. But the week doesn't make sense on this one.

Purchased this new from ebay, was supposed to be new in original packaging but wasn't. Because of the date code I'm sending it back. I hate sellers like this. Supposed to be in the same county as me so only should have taken 1 day shipping but it shipped DHL & took 2 weeks to arrive. Turns out it's a Chinese seller.

Thanks

There are a lot of people that don’t know much if anything about it because they never use them so they have no reason to figure it all out. They’re used to drills that are basically one size fits all. So they see rotary hammers with sds plus and sds max and get confused on what it what.

My Rockwell oscillating multi-tool died today while I was using it. I still need an oscillating multi-tool. I have some M12 and some M18 stuff, so I checked and sure enough Milwaukee makes one of those oscillating multi-tools in both platforms.

Which is better?

The M12 2426-20 is a bare tool for $80 at Home Depot (somewhere I can get it tonight).
The M18 2626-21CP is a kit with soft case, 1.5 Ah batter, and charger for $100 at Home Depot. Black Friday deal, apparently. I'm going to get the M18 unless someone tells me it is total ****.

Caution, gratuitous use of the word tool here. The M18 has tooless tool change, the M12 requires a tool to change the tool.

I'm very happy with my M18.

The M18 has come highly recommended in various posts an threads over the M12 (although that's better than nothing) in the past week alone simply because of that $99 deal

I just now opened up my box with the tool (was delivered 2 day ago) and was going to make a post about on it when I read this one.

FYI just on first impressions I am very glad I purchased the M18 over the M12 unit though I am a BIG M12 fan and have numerous tools in that line.

Just for the size and weight alone.

I also did get the $149 offer included the $75 set of 9 mixed blades as I never had a multitool before
