Anyone here have the M12 5 3/8 circ saw? Thinking about grabbing one to break down sheet goods and 2x material at the big box store. My other option is to go with the 18V Ridgid Octane version. I rarely use my corded circ saw these days now that I have a track saw, but alas it too is corded.

It'll work fine for that. You will want a 4.0 or 6.0 battery, especially for 2x. A good blade and a straight edge will help as well. If your not cutting straight it tends to stall out pretty easily.

Ah, good idea on the strap

One question.. I have the old model too. What direction does it spin for you guys? I swear it's backwards from every other weed whacker I've ever used, it drives me crazy. It's super strong and works great but I have to hold it opposite of the way I'm used to.

Your not crazy. It does spin opposite of the normal.

You guys are going to make me buy one of those... :shocking:

It's a sneaky favorite. I did some deck repair and installed some shelves for my mom early this year, and boy did it make that process better.

I love my M12 Stubby, but the Surge is a really close second...

I got tired of batteries and chargers all over the place. I mounted my chargers to the underside of a cabinet using some angled mounts I made from some scrap wood. For the batteries, I bought some 3D printed holders and mounted them to a frame I made.

I'm liking this idea! Walking out to my garage right now.

Thanx!

Picked up the deep cut bandsaw yesterday:
i.php

But over here (Aus) they don't come with a case as a skin only. Before i go hunting for a case that someone isnt using, has anyone sorted out a packout for it? Or are they too long?

Me too. I got a really good price on mine and honestly thought it must have been because I got one that was defective or some sort of weird LH model that no one wanted or something.. I guess that's just how they are. Gah.

I did landscaping professionally for a really long time so I’m used to redmax weed whackers. My sister always needs trimming done when I go there so I had her buy the Milwaukee trimmer and blower. I figured electric would be better since it doesn’t get used often and she would also be able to easily use the blower for the porch and driveway. It’s worked out really well for the most part. I just hate the reverse spin. I forget every time and just flip the trimmer to edge from muscle memory and always shoot myself with **** for a second. Once the debris hits me it’s one of those oh yeah moments.

That explains why I'm always through **** into my shins when I try to edge stuff....

I got tired of it and bought the edger attachment. Maybe that was their plan the whole time. I'll take of my tinfoil hat now.

Used it today, OMG game changer! This thing is great. My son had his Ryobi, I had the Surge. Not even in the same league. He just kept staring at me. :lol_hitti Wound up just letting him use the Milwaukee.

It was almost confusingly quiet and smooth the first time I started using it. A neighbor was in his garage across the street building something and his 1/4" was bone-jarring.

SURGE rules.

Great wife!

Also, it works great for cleaning cars out. I've used it on my Mustang and my girlfriend's Scooby.

This came in the other day. Looking forward to getting some use out of it. It’s a beast, there’s no doubt about that.

One of my 5.0 batteries flashes red on the first bar. If put on charger it shows green. Put it in drill and I get nothing. Any ideas before I trash it?

Let us know how that saw works out. Also let us know how the weight is on it. That was my concern when I saw that beast of a saw.

Tcounty, you should check the battery with a multimeter and see what the voltage is. The battery might not have enough voltage for the charger to charge it. You could potentially manually charge it for a few minutes to get the cells up to an acceptable level for the charge to get it going. This can be dangerous so be careful.

How do I manually charge it? It was fine, had it in my drill and I set the drill down to do something, when I picked it back up I had nothing when I pulled the trigger. This is the second one in the last year to do it. They are close to five years old, just home use.

Can you use a cut off wheel with the right angle due grinder with any success? I'd like to use it to cut sheet metal, bolts, e.t.c automotive uses

If you do try the red boot let us know. I'm curious about them cause they choose not to make cut outs for the motor fan inlet. Instead it looks like they made a bulge for that, maybe there is some sort of gap for air flow at the ends of the bulge?

Do they have one for the straight? MW told me that they currently don't have any plans for a boot for the straight. I've got the MW boot for the RA. It's high quality & fits perfect like all their other boots I've used but expensive.

As for the 1/8" collet adapter, I don't know. I just use the one that I've had for my air die grinders. No idea who made it or where I got it, it's like 20 yrs old. Much quicker to use the adapter though rather than switching out the entire collet. The MW 1/8" collet is expensive too.

Yes you could if you buy a threaded mandrel for the discs. I'm not sure how much side pressure the arbor is made to take though. They make an actual cut-off tool that's 2522-20 and is one of their cheaper M12 tools.

You can but you'll be disappointed if you are used to using an air cut off tool. Easy to stall especially if you use a 3" wheel. The MW die grinders are only recommend for use with up to 2" wheels.

As long as you let the wheel do the work like you should they'll work fine. I use 2-1/4" wheels with my straight & it's fine for me. But I only use it with a cut off wheel for light duty.

There are a lot of ways to do it. Here is a video I found really quick. I haven't tried it myself but many forum members here have saved their M18 batteries by manually charging them for a bit.

Remember, be careful, there is a lot of power in these batteries!

I used it for the first time today. All I can can is wow. I love it. Blade visibility is awesome. Balance is real nice. It is heavy no doubt. I estimate close to 13 pounds with the saw and 6ah battery. At first I thought that it was too big but it’s only picking it up that’s the issue. As soon as you have it on the material you are cutting you don’t have to worry about the weight anymore. I feel like it had a lot more power and the rear handle made it a lot easier to follow the line then with my 2731-20. My only complaint is that since the blade is on the left it dumps the saw dust in my shoes. But nothing you can do about that.

I have the top handle model, and have wondered if this is worth the upgrade??

Used it for the first time today and sold my right handed saw today. For me even though I am right handed I want to see the blade. But ever since I bought the 2731-20 saw I have been unhappy. Should have just taken it back in the beginning. Blade visibility was horrible with that saw no matter what position you had it in, My right handed saw was around 11 pounds with a 12ah battery. This one is around 13 pounds with battery.

Is it worth the upgrade. I would say yes. I was able to get $175 out of the right blade saw so that helped offset the new purchase.

I think it's time for a new M18 Drill...My first M18 purchase was a 2602 at least 5 years ago, probably longer. Was drilling a 2" hole saw through some 1/8" steel and it started smoking. Figured that it was too hot, so ran it unloaded for a bit and after 2-3 seconds there was more smoke and glowing red through the vent holes in the back. Brushes are still good so must be something in the armature...

Looks like there are two options in this "class" of drill...

2704 ~7/8" longer, Has light by the trigger (good), different looking chuck and side handle

2804 Newer(?), but is it any better? Shorter (good), light by the battery (bad).

Looking for a high power, long lasting drill. Any reasons to go with one vs the other that I'm missing?

I'll probably buy a M12 (2503?) for small, compact, lighter duty work (pilot holes and such)
