Packout vac $199 ouch

Ahhh typical fuel markup for us Milwaukee addict suckers.

I am kind of bummed that it has 50 cfm vs 45 cfm for the old vac. It is supposedly quieter and of course integrates well with the pack out system. Waiting for real world feedback from you guys.

I'm sure it'll end up on promo a much better price within a year. It does have some nice features though. They went back to a washable filter, which will also fit on the current vac. Also looks like there will be a foam filter for wet use. They're also going to have bags available for them, I'm hoping those will work on the current vac as well.

The sounds ratings are also a little misleading. It's compared to a "corded vacuum". The current M18 vac is rated at 85db, 2db lower than the new fuel models. And their backpack vac is 76db, a lot quieter.

I bought an m12 inflator recently with the current promo. I've been thinking about getting a second one and leaving it in my trunk for emergency situations/just to be prepared. I don't want to cart around a battery in the trunk all the time and since my car runs on 12v I figured I could just make an adapter out of a Chinese knock off m12 battery case that has the same disconnects my battery charger uses. This way I could run the inflator off the car battery from either a cig lighter socket or a pair of clamps right on the battery terminals.

Thinking about it a little more I'm wondering if the CTek wires are up to the amp draw the inflator is going to pull from the 12v system. Also I imagine any cig lighter socket would need to have beefier wire to run the inflator for any long period of time. Anyone have any idea what the amp draw on these inflators is?

I'm thinking of getting something like this:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/M12-12V-3A...-Board-For-Milwaukee-48-11-2411-/273970422403

With the current deal on the inflator at Home Depot it would be fairly cheap and it would be cool to have it just hanging out in my trunk, ready to run off my battery to fill a tire.

I did search the thread, forgive me if been asked, but this thread is huge. :dunno:

Looking at corded 9" angle grinder. I can not find the difference between models 6088 and 6089, does anyone here know?

I have asked Milwaukee support but have not received an answer. The 5-year warranty is pretty impressive. Any gotchas on their warranty?

If you're going to add a cord to a cordless tool, why not just buy a corded tool in the first place? I have a corded inflator in both cars for emergencies on the road. The cordless Milwaukee stays in a handy spot at home for checking and top off.

So....I've had my first M12 purchase that I'm luke-warm about - the M12 jigsaw.

Good power, good battery life, but the sawdust just kept piling up in front of the base, covering up the line I was trying to follow. The blade also deflected a lot during turns.

Perhaps it was the material I was cutting (3/4" MDF)? Perhaps the deflection was the junky kit blade? Perhaps I just got spoiled using my dad's corded Bosch which has the air puffer to keep the cutting path clear and a little pair of clamps that laterally support the blade?

My main use right now is rough-cutting material before routing it to match a template, so it's more than adequate. Just a bit concerned that it won't cut it (pun intended) if I have a project that requires more accuracy.

I thought the new jigsaws had air selectable to blow away debris from the cut line? Did you buy the older model or am I imagining that they had this feature?

First off, where is the fun in that? Second, having more flexibility with a tool is never a bad thing. I want to be able to run the tool off a car battery when it makes sense but still retain the ability to run it off the standard m12 batteries for other purposes.

It makes way less sense to try and convert a corded tool to cordless than the other way around, at least in my mind.

I want to use the m12 inflator instead of a standard 12v car pump because I really like the way it works with presetting the PSI and the on board accessory storage. I have a small pump that I keep under the seat of my motorcycle where space is a premium but in the trunk of my car, I've got all the space in the world for the larger Milwaukee pump.

So I looked at the 2 and the only real difference I see is the 6089 has a Roto-lok handle. I think this feature lets you rotate the handle's orientation relative to the main body of the grinder. Supposedly 9 positions. Might be a cool feature, I've never used a grinder that had that option.

I'm up north visiting family and there is a hole hawg for sale locally. It looks well used, and the seller is asking $100 but it's been listed for a while. Do I need it for any upcoming projects....no, but......?

The newer M18 fuel saws do that. The M12 didn’t get updated with them though. It’s a non-fuel model that has been around for several years.

Appears to also have a slightly different trigger option.

My first Milwaukee M18 product died last night. My first Milwaukee purchase actually. M18 2606 1/2" Compact drill. The motor is fine, the chuck is frozen. Bit stuck in the end of it.

I watched some videos; I put oil down the chuck, I hit it with a hammer. I still can't get the thing open. It's got a March 2015 serial number. I know we bought it later in the year(maybe labor day weekend) but have moved a couple times since 2015 and don't have the receipt. I didn't start getting the receipts emailed until 2018.

Any other ideas how to get this thing open?

Thanks!

My 1st gen Fuel 18v did this as well. I tried everything....

Problem is, the internal gears had stripped from the nose piece to main body of the chuck. It will spin freely regardless. Sent it in under warranty and got a replacement chuck. Which means you can get it off, somehow.

I would try gripping both the base of the chuck and also the top and see if you can break the gearing apart. Or you may have to sneak in under the collar that is closest to the drill body and grip that to spin the chuck?

I cant remember if there is anywhere to get leverage?

Mine just did that. I used big channel locks tiger the clutch open enough to fit a big Phillips head screwdriver down to unscrew the retaining bolt. Bought a replacement Milwaukee chuck on eBay for $22.

I found the credit card statement. Bought it around Memorial Day not Labor Day. So it is out of Warranty. Customer Support said if it's close they "might" still warranty it. If not they will charge me $65 for the new chuck. I need to open the jaws to change the chuck. So I am sending it in with hopes for warranty grace. I can deny the repair and they will ship it back for no charge. For $65 I can buy a newer one of the same model or a newer brushless model that is still under warranty. I'd still like to keep a brush model around that works. I do already have a newer brushless set. Don't want to see this one go to waste though.

Some recommend buying a better chuck. One in particular is this german made one on amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DD7KS5O?

Has anyone replaced the chuck with this one or another one with good results?

I would ask around looking for someone with a dead Milwaukee battery I have seen some people complain about the figment of the knockoffs and I wouldn’t want that frustration for an emergency tool. Also you are probably going to have to hook it directly to the battery since a cigarette lighter won’t handle the current draw. Have fun I like the idea.

Thanks for the feedback on the knock off battery casing fitment. I had concerns about the current draw from a cig lgihter socket as well.

These boxes are stupid and crappy, they don't even seem like real packout, feel like they are Chinese knockoffs.

Anyone have the m18 grease gun? If so do you have the hard case or soft case? Do they make a grease gun kit that comes with something bigger than a 1.5 battery?

Just got mine. It did not come with any case, just cardboard box.

I need your opinions guys. I was borrowing an air impact gun from one of my friends for the last couple of years. I had to give it back to him. The only thing I used it for was changing my wheels from my winter to summer wheels and back again. What would you guys recommend from the Milwaukee line. I have a drill combo right now so i would like to stay with Milwaukee. What can I use for the garage once in a while that will have the power for that and for other tasks?

M12 or m18? I think they all will take lug nuts off if not hammered on super tight. Compacts are small but should get the job done and fit lots of places. Mid torque m18 still fits good and has the power for something stubborn. High torque m18 will undo most things not super screwed up but it is big.

For that use, Mid Torque should be all you need...
