Throwing a chain away after it gets dull?????

Yikes! Idk if the Stihl all in one chain sharpener works for Milwaukee sized chains, but it sure takes the guess work out of sharpening.

https://m.stihlusa.com/products/cha...423241-1042096119.1602423241&rev=BVSpotlights

I use the Pferd version who makes it for Stihl. Wish I was smart enough to not let the chain touch dirt and metal objects embedded in the wood.

Here’s the link.

Can you recommend a way I can learn to perform this voodoo in 5 minutes? Any good videos on how to sharpen a chain that you'd recommend?

I learned in 5 minutes 35 years ago just reading the package this came in. It's still exactly the same product. I don't know what size chain milwaukee ships the saw with so this might be the wrong file size but that's pretty easy to find out.

Is there a traditional Milwaukee sale period for Thanksgiving/Black Friday/Christmas?

Most of the holiday deals should launch the first week of November. Then there will be more "Black Friday" deals around thanksgiving. Though it sounds like at least HD is going to spread those around some and not have a full on "Black Friday" in stores this year.

I've been hoping for a great deal on the M18 CP3.0 batteries. I really like those. One 5.0 and one CP2.0 for 100 is an ok deal. I try to go for $10/Ah for a solid deal.

I'm leaning towards slowly replacing my many Dewalt 18v cordless tools with Milwaukee. Is this 6-piece set with the extra battery deal a good place to start? Looks like it includes the dual charger so that I could add some M12 tools later on. Thanks for the help!

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwaukee-M18-18-Volt-Lithium-Ion-Cordless-Combo-Kit-6-Tool-with-2-Batteries-Charger-and-Tool-Bag-W-Free-5-0Ah-Battery-2697-26-48-11-1850/313782176

Those are all very entry level tools. The drill can be nice because it's small, and the oscillating multi tool is pretty good. The grinder can do small stuff like using a thin cutoff wheel to cut bolts, but it's not going to be crazy powerful. The sawzall should be fine, but I would be concerned about the performance of the circular saw.

You may be better off getting a starter FUEL drill and impact kit and then buy FUEL tools as you need them.

Great suggestion, thank you.

If you hold off until the next round of sales you might be able to get a nice fuel kit at a reasonable discount.

I’m invested in the pack out system. I wanted a crate to organize my work stuff in the trunk. I wanted one with a solid bottom so when the grease leaks it’s contained. The pack out crate fit the bill perfectly.

I haven't found a need for an oscillating multi-tool, but now I'm doing a mini remodel of a bathroom and might need to trim some of the baseboard. Seems like it's time for a multi-tool.

Is the M12 multi-tool sufficient enough? I won't be using it a ton so it's hard to justify ponying up for the new M12 Fuel version...

The big thing about the M12 vs the new Fuel is the new ones are a little heavier but have the quick tool change feature.

I'm not sure if the deal is live yet but on the 2nd HD with have the M18 for 100 with a battery and charger. I think that is the older M18 and not the fuel version.

I don’t think it is going on yet but the old m18 is $99 with a battery for Black Friday and is nice step up. I have the m12 and it does what I have wanted never used it before but there are some jobs I don’t see anything working

I’m interested in getting the new mid torque. Not in a rush, but I have a stubby and an ingersoll rand cordless that’s bulky. Trying to fill the gap. My question is, how long should I expect the new mid torque to go on sale with a promo. Say a free battery or something? If I remember correctly the stubbys went out on promo about a year after they came out. I’m not in a rush, but I wouldn’t want to wait that long...

I want one of those as well and hoping to see a deal by the end of the year. If it sells like crazy, it might be a while before a deal hits though and I'll wait until then.

I don't believe in overkill...usually. I needed a new impact so I got this 3/4" for a bit more than a 1/2" plus a 1/2" reducer. 1500 ft/lb break loose & 1200 ft/lbs tightening is a bit more than I needed for the home garage but hey, why not? If this can't break it loose or tighten it down I probably shouldn't be working on it anyway.

My first Milwaukee , 1/2" stubby. Certainly won't be my last !
Just can't decided which one to get next..I'm thinking 1/2" high torque and a 2454-20.

Made an adapter for the 3” compact cut off tool. I used a Harbour Freight mini belt file. It works great.

new m12 fuel oscillating tool is amazing. it's as powerful as my corded rockwell but has low vibration just like the box claims. goes through batteries pretty quickly when I'm pushing it. surprisingly long but it's light and skinny so I haven't had problems maneuvering it

only weirdness so far is I've gotten a bunch of wood dust under the battery indicator lights. I guess if dust kills it, it has a five year warranty so... whatever

$103 after battery return at depot right now

Can you recommend a way I can learn to perform this voodoo in 5 minutes? Any good videos on how to sharpen a chain that you'd recommend?

First, like any skill, it requires practice. If you don't practice you will get sub-standard results.

My Dad's (who heated his house with wood) always had 3 or 4 spares chains so that he could swap a fresh one in when needed and keep going. Because he did not practice enough, he found a guy who would sharpen his chains for $5 (yes, this was 30 years ago).

Here is an interesting video

They took the battery back ? At full price ???

At $103, that is a decent price !

They don’t take the battery back at full price, it is a prorated return price that will be right on the receipt. Make the bare tool price a little more palatable. M12 battery will return for approximately $46. I will be waiting for the M18 version.

So, I’ve pretty much decided to replace my old Craftsman wet/dry vac with the M18 wet/dry vac. I have been looking for seasonal deals in the usual locations but have not seen anything yet. Do I just need to wait a little longer to get closer to Thanksgiving?

Here you go. The 0880 will go back and forth for $99, then back to $119. Here it is with 2 filters for $109. I just bought my second one a few weeks ago for $119 and the 1 filter pack for $19 and returned it for the drop to $99 and $19 for the 2 filter pack. Then they dropped it to $109 for this combo. Im not returning again lol
