LOL, 2 months ago I had to throw away all my boxes also because of cross country move, after I broke down the cut up the larger ones into about 2x2 pieces, I had 2bundled stacks about 6 feet high each. I always cut the serial number / barcode of the boxes.

I had to do the same thing over the last 2 weekends lol. I had all my boxes on my storage rack where my bins were supposed to go..problem was the rack was full of Milwaukee boxes and the totes were on the floor :dunno:

My 2706-20 M18 hammer drill broke on me last night. The chuck got totally hosed up for no reason? I tightened down the chuck with my hand, drilled a hole and then when I finished the hole, the twist drill fell out of the chuck. The chuck spins/clicks in both directions but the jaws don't move.

This is the second drill chuck I've broken. The first was on a Ryobi drill. The chuck wasn't holding a twist drill properly so I tightened it harder with my hand and ended up cracking one of the three jaws. This time though, I wasn't using my Gi-Joe kung fu grip at all, just a normal amount of strength, the chuck just failed on me.

I've submitted an RMA to Milwaukee for this, I'm sure they will warranty it reasonably quickly.

Just take pictures of the serial numbers/barcodes. Save them to Dropbox or your favorite online storage, and you have them forever, anywhere. Same for an equipment model/serial tags/labels on power tools or other equipment.

I have been running my 18v Fuel leaf blower on a pile of 5AH batteries I have but as expected the battery life is short. What’s size batt is everyone using that has good run time and isn’t too heavy? I am tempted to try a 9AH. Is that enough or do You recommend a 12AH?
As you know these batts are expensive so I only want to buy one. Thanks

I got a great deal on the 12AH and 8AH at Home Depot and it is a game changer for my blower! I look the 8AH as well.

As seen in the New Arrival thread, I present to you the Gen 2 Mid Torque:

HcuJYZA.jpg

vs. the Gen 1 - definitely shorter and a bit lighter
CsQBZuM.jpg

Stacked view with the Gen 1 at the bottom and the M12 1/2" Stubby on top:

With batteries the size difference isn't quite as significant, but still noticeable. Shown with the M12 Stubby for some additional scale:

A bigger lanyard hole on the Gen 2:

I'm looking forward to trying out the Auto mode, and definitely like the triple lights - a huge plus IMHO. Those two features alone are a big plus for me. I've always found the power of the Mid just fine, so the additional grump of the Gen 2 will be peace of mind, but isn't solving a problem I currently have. I really appreciate the compactness of the Gen 2. I also have a couple M18 3.0Ah High Output batteries waiting to be picked up, and will be interested to see how it performs with those - seems like it will be a Big Stubby!

Let us know how it performs with the ho 3.0 as well. I had that setup in mind as well.

My blower came with a 9.0 in a kit along with the weed whacker and that is what I use on it. It can get a little heavy but I just swap hands every so often and it isn't an issue. I wouldn't want a 12.0 on there though, too heavy for me. I think the 8.0 weighs in about the same as the 9.0. I've been able to do everything I need with the blower on my 1/4 acre lot but just barely. I've blown through the whole battery once where I needed to slap a 5.0 on it to finish the last little bit if that gives you an idea on how much use you can get with a single 9.0.

Yup the 8.0 is the best battery. Some day I will find the time to run a test and prove the 8.0 lasts longer in the blower than the 9.0.

9.0s are useless to me after getting so many 8s & 12s. Cant wait till the 10.0 & 15.0s come out. Maybe the lawnmower if not MX Fuel will come out running two 15.0s.

I'm going to send it in because the chuck isn't open enough for me to get the bolt out that holds the chuck in. I don't feel like sawing/grinding through hardened steel jaws so I can get the retaining bolt out. I'm going to let them do the hard work on this one. Maybe I'll swap the chuck when I get the drill back though. Do you have the part number handy?

Still holding out for that mower? I've still got a gas mower and honestly, I'm totally fine staying gas for that. If it ever dies, hopefully I'll be able to get my hands on a red one by then but if not, I'll probably just buy a replacement motor for 40 bucks and put this one back together. The motor is a 4 stroke so I don't have to mess with mixing oil/fuel. If it was a 2 stroke I'd probably be looking to get away from it.

Picked up the M12 3/8" Stapler yesterday for putting up xmas lights. We have wire mesh gutter guards, so typical clips are out. Cedar siding holds the staples well, and the adjustable power means the staple isn't pinching the wire too tight.
Alright which stapler is the latest must have? Model Please...

Mine runs well and probably 25 min on a 9.0 battery. I have some 8.0 that also work fine, but I haven’t timed the runtime. I don’t have any 12.0 batteries yet.

Yup, tractor died and sold it, fixed the push mower and after the last mow gave it to a neighbor cause was moving far away. Have a small yard now and only need a new push mower preferably M18 powered in the spring.

I think you'd want the High Output batteries on the Gen 2 . I grabbed a couple of the 3.0Ah versions to use with it.

Nah, the 2.0s are a fair amount smaller and lighter than the HO 3.0s. Sure, power will be reduced a bit, but it’s got power to spare.

So long as it doesn’t throw off the balance of the tool, I’m a big fan of 2.0s on impacts.

Never gonna happen! They’re too stubborn!

Been having great luck running my 40v Ryobi off of M18 packs.

I was getting ready to pull the trigger on getting into M18 with the $200 Home Depot deal for 2 batteries, charger, and free tool (I was gonna get the router). Today it looks like the starter pack is totally out of stock. Do you think it'll come back into stock?

I did the battery set and router too. I bought the last router on the shelf and the batteries was gone the next day. I checked a just the other day and they have a bunch of the battery sets and about 6 routers. So I would give it a shot in a bit.

The only thing that you have that I want is the rocket light how do you like it?

This is one that I waited on for a while. I had a really nice corded halogen work light my trailer. But just never really got it out. I finally pulled the trigger when I could get it for a good deal and they converted it to accept the 12ah batteries and am finding that I get it out a lot more often due to not having to run a cord and it sets up and breaks down super fast. I have really liked it.

I took the big leap into Milwaukee tools. I honestly was considering just doing away with battery tools and going full pneumatic and plug-in-electric but I gave in and ordered this kit from Northern Tools since their price was a full 20% lower than anyone else and 40% less than some.

https://www.milwaukeetool.com/Products/Power-Tools/Combo-Kits/2-Piece-Kits/2691-22.

Now that I've taken the leap, I guess I'll be buying more and buying higher capacity batteries.

That's an interesting tool. Plug in my battery charger to 110v AC so I can charge my battery so I can make 110v AC so I can... I don't know.. plug in my charger?

The description sort of implies using it to charge devices but there are far better device chargers for emergency or remote use.

So what are your plans for this?

What about Milwaukee hand tools - socket sets, combination wrenches, etc.? I've always thought of them for electric tools but not hand tools. Does anyone have experience with them?

Laptop or cell phone use... I guess cell phone mainly.... my laptop is dell precision 5520 and needs 130 watts min... I wanted a big machine from work but now regret it.... a latitude 7410 would be better.

Ah, the laptop is a very interesting idea. Typically, laptops probably are about 3-4 amp hours and 6-8 on high-capacity batteries. With this small inverter you could carry a bank of high-capacity batteries for extended laptop or use the same batteries for tools... Now I see good use for it.

Ideally you could just get an adapter since the volts are close... not sure i would trust that but I think most dells are 19.5 and that is about the same at the m18 I think... wish milwaukee would make an adapter instead of 3d printed stuff.

Is it a pure sine wave inverter? I suppose it wouldn't be a problem with a laptop since you're essentially charging a battery that then powers the computer but I just always hear about issues running electronics with modified sive wave inverters.

It just provides 110 and USB from a battery... like an inverter... but limited... can't run a sawzall off of it.

Not sure if you need a discrete video card but if not, get yourself a Lenovo T590. Charges via USB-C so it is DC to DC for charging off those batteries. The power source has a USB-C connector if I remember correctly. Also you can use your laptop power brick to charge android phones at an alarmingly fast rate. I always had Dell laptops and I hated the last few gens of Lenovo but the current T590 is the best laptop I've ever used for my day to day stuff.
