Picked this up today - anyone have a good 2" Roloc kit (and purchase site) you'd recommend? Mainly will be using it for cleaning rust off auto parts (wheel hubs/etc.)

^I can't see the pic, but guessing you got the right angle die grinder? I've been wanting one for a while.
Me too. Was hoping they would be part of the Black Friday sales but no such luck. They must still be selling too well.

Hmmm... I took the "s" out of the http line for the Imgur link. This place is so strange with pix.

But yes - M12 FUEL Right Angle Die Grinder. The only deal I saw at all was $300 for both the straight and RA, which ain't bad, but I can't justify having both at this point.

I think if you search this thread you will find what you need. I believe I posted the rolock kit I bought when I got my grinder earlier this year.

Last week I only owned the 3/4" impact, went a little nuts on the black Friday sales.

There are lots of kits on amazon in the $15-$25 range. They come with a few of a lot of different sizes and grits. Good for figuring out what you like to use and then just ordering those grits or styles.

What size is your original battery? The replacement says it works for 3, 4 and 5 ah packs but your original looks pretty slim in the picture. Also, forgive me if you often order from Ali Express and are aware of this but it will likely ship from China and take a while to get here. There may be some options that ship from somewhere closer.

Forgive me if this was asked already and regardless, please no one kill me for such a question. Aimed directly toward diyers or auto techs: is there an appeal to get into the pack out system? I feel like it’s a sure thing for contractors, hvac, plumbers, electricians etc, but is it that much more organized for a home garage or an auto tech that has a box at work?

hmm... ya, the battery I broke is the slimmer battery. Not the taller beefier ones. I'll have to look again when I get home from work.

Edit: found a pic

No, I'd only get it for jobsite work. I got it even for remote metalworking, like handrail installs, gates etc. I can load up my layout stuff, squares, grinders, PPE etc and roll it to the site.

But I've never personally used it in the shop.

I like the packout system for storage. The wall mounts are on sale right now for 20/each and at that price I was willing to buy a few. Also great for hauling your tools somewhere. I can't see it being used extensively in an automotive shop though.

I was almost positive that it wouldn’t work for a tech but I guess for the home it would be ok. I don’t have a garage, I have a small storage unit off of my porch and another near my parking spot (I live in an apt complex). My snap on box is near the car for whenever I do side work and my home tools are upstairs. I wanted the 3.0 ho batts for the new mid torque that I plan to get soon and they are about 100 bucks while the 2853-22po special is 200. I couldn’t pass up that deal so now I’m a pack out owner. I want to get 2 organizers for now for home but hot damn they’re expensive lol. If someone as a homeowner can give me a reason to really invest in pack out, it would make it easier to buy them lol

I normally don't buy specifically on Black Friday/Cyber/Small Biz Saturday etc.
I just buy when I need

With being stuck at WFH, I paid more attention to the ads this year

But for those that do. I saw some pretty decent stuff on Red (have all their stuff already), for decent 50% savings. I know HD generally has revolving Red stuff on sale always, around 28-33% off.

Is the 50% really a Black Friday/Cyber Monday to look out for annually ?

i'm finally part of the milwaukee family. bought the m12 $199 black friday combo sale.

i'm a bodyman & i've been using a harbor freight hercules 20v 1/4 hex impact everyday for the last couple of years. great gun & the 2.5 battery will go weeks without needing a charge. But it's a bit bulky for a lot of situations. I'm hoping the m12 hex impact will remedy that. I'm also happy to retire my craftsman 3/8 air ratchet for the m12.

We had an m12 3/8 impact gun back in college years ago that i loved. just out of my price range right now.

You can buy the pole saw as just a pole saw kit I believe. I saw it in a combo the other day with the power unit and a blower. Just check Milwaukee's website and you should be able to get the part number for just the pole saw only attachment kit without the power unit if that is what you are after.

I think he's asking about buying the tool without the battery.

The pole saw is an attachment to the power unit, I'm not sure you can buy the pole saw with the power unit and not get a battery/charger with it but maybe you can. Again, a quick check of Milwaukee's website should tell you. If it ends in -20 that should be bare tool, no charger or battery. I think -21 is comes with 1 battery and -22 is comes with 2 batteries.

If you're somehow incorporating it into your "static storage" and occasionally you need to take the your tools somewhere, I can see how it might work. It's not financially efficient, but I guess it would work.

As a guy who has a decent chunk of tools stuffed in a USG 29" chest and 5-drawer tech cart in my garage, and goes on the road with tools multiple times a year (pre-COVID anyway), I don't really have the space, funds or need for a Packout setup. If you are mobile with your tools for a living, it makes a lot more sense.

Net: not a homeowner product IMHO.

Correct, I'm trying to not get stuck paying for a charger I don't need. I started my search on the Milwaukee web site and I didn't see a bare tool option or even a battery only option. Web site only has a complete kit or a pole saw attachment that you can add to a Power Head you already own. But I thought it might be because it was a newish tool and they didn't have all of the options posted yet? :dunno:

This is me. When I started down the Milwaukee cordless path I didn't have extra storage space in the garage so I bought the rolling box and a wall-mount crate to have a place to put them. I am now up to 7 hand tools and it's just convenient to have them all in one area. The fact that the box moves is a bonus but not a feature I use often.

I know it's been discussed in the past but there are a lot of pages since then and I can't seem to find what everyone is using for replacements blades on the 3" cutoff tool. If anyone has some suggestions other than the currently overpriced Milwaukee option please share I would greatly appreciate it!

You probably aren’t going to find the power head and saw together without a battery cheaper than in a kit unless you go to some of the eBay or Facebook resellers. You might get lucky on a Home Depot deal of the day but pretty much everything on sale comes in a kit if you really don’t need or want another charger you can always sell it and make it even cheaper.

The dremel max or whatever its called blades work. Lowes usually has more B&M selection than HD. The cutoff came with 2 arbor sizes, the other size works with the dremel discs.

Has anyone used the backpack sprayer? I have a lot of moss building up on my paver driveway and I need to mix up large batches and spray it down. It is tedious and I feel like maybe the backpack sprayer would make that job a lot less terrible.

Back Packer Sprayer is a godsend....albit heavy. Load up up and prop on table. Then back up to table and lift the pack on. Much easier this way....

I cannot believe I waited this long to switch over, Love my M12 Fuel and M18 FUEL stuff. went to do work on duck blinds at the lease other day and my M18 impact was only tool standing after the yellow stuff went through multiple batteries. Granted I had a big boy in but still everyone was blown away

I need a deal on the concrete tank and the sprayer tank sooooo badly before spring. Got the powered kit and water supply tank with the big concrete saw deal. Sold my nice Echo backpack sprayer when I moved.

Dying to get these other tanks and use it, no more pumping yaaaaa

Why are there so many m12 batteries?

There’s flush CP in 1, 2 and 3 amp’

And there’s the larger XC in 3, 4 and 6 amp.

I get the impression the 3amp XC was original XC and they made 4 and 6 way later, so there’s no good reason to use 3s except they’re coming up in package deals.

As far as 4 versus 6, if I’m using a bigger battery wouldn’t 6 always be better? I can’t find weights of them to know if 6 is larger or heavier than 4.

Ignoring free battery combos, if you were starting over today which m12 batteries would name the most sense for an assortment?

It seems like the CP in either 2 or 3 amp plus the XC in 6 would be all you needed, one for flush use in low powered applications and one for big boy work.

I believe the CP batteries are the original and the XC batteries came later but I'm not 100% sure on that. I'd avoid the CP1.5 battery if you can. The CP2.0 is alright and the CP3.0 is the best of the CP series and I can't really tell the difference in weight between any of the CP batteries. The XC batteries are all good and the XC6 does seem to be heavier than the XC3.0 and XC4.0.

For heated gear, the CP3.0 is the best battery. The CP batteries work fine in most tools for but stuff like the impact drives, the XC batteries are better.

The 3 CP is better for clearance on some tools, best balance of run time vs weight.

The 4.0 XC has been around along time, 5 years or more?. The 6.0 is a recent add, I'm guessing it possibly shares cells with the 3.0CP as they seem to both be more rare in kits, and cost more retail.

I think the 1.5ah and the XC 3.0 use the same cells, 2.0ah and XC 4.0 use the same cells and 3.0ah and XC 6.0 use the same cells. The XC just have a second set of 3 cells in parallel for extra run time.

I agree that one CP (2 or 3) and one XC 6.0 is all you need, depending on the amount of tools you have.

I am lusting over a right angle m12 die grinder even though I don’t need one and never owned or used one.

What kind of non-automotive, perhaps homeowner tasks can you use one for? Offhand my first idea is I occasionally scrub stainless steel pots and pans with green scotchbright pads and bar keepers friend.

Perhaps this die grinder with a mild abrasive pad on the end would save my forearms from an hour of torture.

I don’t own an orbital sander but just bought a m12 fuel multi tool. So the multi tool is my only sanding tool. Or my foredoomed rotary tool with 1/8” collet sanding drum Dremel end.

So maybe the die grinder would make a useful sanding/buffing tool?

Or am I buying **** I don’t need lol

Also am eying the 3” m22 cut off wheel for mini jobs that I’d otherwise use a hacksaw for

Here is how I understand it -

M12

3 18650 cells -
CP1.5
CP2.0
CP3.0

6 18650 cells -
XC3.0
XC4.0
XC6.0

M18

5 18650 cells -
CP1.5
CP2.0

10 18650 cells -
XC3.0
XC4.0
XC5.0
XC6.0

15 18650 cells -
HD9.0

5 21700 cells -
CP3.0 (HO)

10 21700 cells -
XC6.0 (HO)
XC8.0 (HO)

15 21700 cells -
HD12.0 (HO)

The M18 XC6.0 is pretty rare for whatever reason. I've only seen one once.
