Had a good experience with warranty claim on 9.0 high output battery that died. It was 3 years old, charged maybe 25 times...and to a dump. Would not accept a charge. I looked at all the you tube **** about jumping the battery...gave up and tossed it. I saw some of you guys advising others to file a claim. I had no receipt or way to prove the age...

Signed up for claim...they paid to ship it back...just got a brand new battery today. Felt good about that as those are not cheap and I really had not used it much.

Milwaukee FTW...

That's great to hear.

FWIW - don't charge your batteries all the way (get to about 80%) and leave them at low charge when you're done & just charge before you need to use them again. Charging them to the top and also leaving them in a high state of charge is a big wear and tear on the batteries.

Yeah from what I hear Milwaukee is great on warranty. I have been lazy about sending mine in. I have one 9.0hd, 1-3.0cpm12, and 1-6.0xcm12 that are bad also with my gen 3 fuel pact and gen 1 fuel drill that also need to go back just been lazy. Plus was wondering about the shipping to them. It’s not the end of the world to pay for it if I have to but considering I have purchased enough red stuff over the past 5-6 years, that would be more then what a small island county has even seen before, I would rather not have to spent it plus I would rather by more red then pay for shipping. Plus homedepot or soMe other major store should be able to warranty the tools. Plus it pisses me off that Home Depot can warranty any Milwaukee tool they personally want to just as long as you have the correct box and find the right non lazy retard at the deak(or maybe that type of person lol). But my impact died on the day I really needed it and it was 1 week out of the 90 days and homedepot would not exchange it for me just because the guy who
Was working the register cut me off pulling into the parking lot earlier and I flipped him off and j guess it hurt his poor feelings and didn’t want to do anything that a police didn’t force him to do. Lame little cry baby kids who
Thinks the world should be there and stop for them.
Now I know they pay shipping I think I will call them tomorrow and see what’s up.

I did a 9.0 battery swap during COVID. Like others, no receipt etc. there was apparently a recall and depending on the date on the battery, they’ll just swap out.

A lot of work for something that's unnecessary, in my experience. Factory chargers are "smart" in that they cut current to the battery when appropriate. I've always charged batteries when they need to be charged, and left them as fully charged as the charger said they should be (assuming you're using authentic Milwaukee batteries and chargers; if using 3rd party stuff, all bets are off). Charge and discharge cycles are what wear down batteries in my experience, not storing them at high states of charge. I know its anecdotal, but I've never had a battery go bad on me doing this. I've actually got some lithium ion batteries that are over 15 years old and still function and hold a charge as good as the day I bought them. I've seen this advice several times on this forum, and it usually leads back to the internet's favorite battery reference, battery university. There's a few articles on there that contain some pretty questionable assumptions and studies/citations as their source. I'm more than happy to trust Milwaukee's instructions on how to best use and care for the products they sell, and it hasn't let me down yet.

I agree with you on the chargers, and doubly on third-party chargers.

But as a guy who works in the tech industry and has spent a lot of time in my job talking to engineers who work exclusively on batteries, I can tell you that you're incorrect and correct at the same time. There is additional capacity built in that ensures you're never truly charging to 100% of the actual/full battery capacity (at least at first), but there is still economy in keeping the batteries from charging to "full" and additional (though less) in not leaving them in a highly-charged state. Another way to keep your batteries running long is to avoid "topping them off" by charging from three bars back to full. Run 'em down to one bar (but not dead) and then charge them up (preferably to 80%). Rapid charging actually doesn't put a lot of extra wear on the batteries...until you do it at over 80% or so of charge. Then it puts a lot of wear and year.

The extra capacity thing is done as much as anything to keep their warranty costs low (and the math in the percentage points adds up pretty fast when it comes to battery warranties), but it's an approach that works. And it's built-in headroom for a strategy that is essentially the same as "not above 80%", though I doubt they're building in that much extra capacity (which is why you still have opportunity to benefit - charging from 40% to 80% is very low wear on the battery).

I don't tend to over-do this approach with my Milwaukee batteries, and I'm not suggesting you're ruining your batteries if you don't. I do it if I have the time and thought to it, which is most of the time. I don't worry about it too much one way or another, though my batteries do last a long time.

It's been more important with my cell phones - those are generally hard/expensive to replace - and I'm a little more diligent about it there. I have an app called Accubattery that reminds me to remove my phone from the charger at 80%. Two years later I still have 91% of the original capacity.

I think a lot of us are awash in batteries, so they're not getting that many cycles to begin with. I'd be interested in knowing what their design spec is for charging cycles is...

Anyway...

Mike. No delta on the standard. But it's just a smidge less powerful than the backpack and I love the size/power ratio and also -wet- option of it.

I waited and waited for this Packout vac. With nothing new in site, I got -bored- and got the backpack vac. For how I use a battery back, the packout vac will easily be used 9.5X out of 10 if I need a cordless vac

I wonder if the packout Fuel vac ***** batteries as quickly as the backpack. I just unpacked the backpack vac I got 3 months ago, havent used it yet but my buddy says it will go through a 12 pretty quickly.

I dont want the packout vac but I do want the M12 wet/dry and the M18 dyson like vac with the powered head. Wish the vac was M18 powered and the head M12 powered.

I like the idea of a battery vac for when I go to car shows or have clean-up in spots that don't have easy access to a plug, but I'd want it to be able to plug into the wall for when the battery isn't necessary (like my M18 Rover light does).

Have I missed it or has Milwaukee not put that feature in any of the vacs?

The cord was what made me buy the Dewalt 1st (only dewalt tool next to their framer and their 40 OPE line). I never used the cord.....

so the packout came out and replaced the dewalt for portable -wet- as well. AC/DC was not even on my radar

Has anyone used the tool belts and what do you think of them?
I bought the electricians tool belt to replace one that I have used for 20 years for general repairs and carpentry.
it seems to me that everything is on the wrong side and it doesn't switch sides very well. It was $40 off at home Depot.
I'm sure I will get used to it and it's better than what I had it might be a $60 tool belt but not $100 tool belt.
I would really like to add a simple multi pocket nail/screw pouch with room for my speed square on the left side.

I share the same opinion. I bought one on sale and while it is a well made belt, I don't care for the layout. I was looking at adding the carpenters pouch and replacing the left side bag, but that's another $60 and I don't think it's worth it. Not that 60 bucks is a ton of money, but it just feels wrong to be $120 deep in a belt that feels like it would be worth $60-$70 on a good day.

Thats an interesting idea for a vac to be battery or cord option like some of the lights, doubt its on their radar.

I mean, one of their most battery-hungry tools is the vac.

The ability to plug it in (like the rover light - I supply the cord) would take it "not useful enough to buy" to "almost certainly would buy" :dunno:

I have the dewalt vac with the battery/cord option and I too have never used the cord. If it's your only vac that might be one thing but I have a bigger/badder vac for bigger jobs. The cordless is used because it's portable and easy to deploy.

So was looking at the vacs and here are the CFMs. Surprised the new power head vac has lower CFM than the older M18 teapot vac, it is even lower than the M12 dustbuster?!?!? Reviews of the power head vac are not great, guess the power head has no height adjustment. So the most powerful vac is still the backpack, good that the M12 wet dry has as much power as the original M18 wet dry. Packout vac has high and low, is that really needed...

M12 Dustbuster Vac 34 CFM
M18 Compact Power Head 32 CFM
M18 Teapot Vac 40 CFM
M12 Wet Dry 45 CFM
M18 Original Wet Dry 45 CFM
M18 Packout Wet Dry 50 CFM
M18 Backpack 55 CFM

I have the pack out vac and it has a noticeably stronger suction compared to the M18 wet/dry vac. It is quieter on high speed and the low speed is nice if you have a quick small job and don’t want to make a ton of noise.

I really like having it on my packout dolly and being able to roll it around like a normal shop vac. (I can even sit on it which is nice). The one thing I don’t like is the handle has to be to the outside side of the packout if you put something next to it (like my cooler) because it overhangs the vac body a little bit.

Re: The Milwaukee addiction thread! [emoji4]

Why does the handle overhang, there are so many design flaws of packout items makes you think they are from different incompatible systems. Pretty much any half width thing does not fit well next to any other half width item except itself, it drives me nuts.

Regarding the vacs, I don’t care for the packout aspect, I care for a good vac. The new ones don’t seem to **** that much better than the old ones. Main focuses are quietness and packout compatible. I was thinking the m12 one but the thing that irks me the most is the hose size. I’m heavily considering the ridgid cordless vac with an m18 adapter bc of that alone

For anyone wanting the new M12 700 lumen Rover Service light, Home Depot's website has finally showed them in stock with free shipping to home. I've naturally already placed my order. :D

Here's the link:
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwauk...ood-Light-with-USB-Charging-2367-20/314746266

I’m gonna have to grab that one of these days. I was in Home Depot yesterday and picked up this m18 light. I couldn’t say no for $59.

I got one in what was probably the first batch, and I have to say it's already a go-to light. Love the output and size. I wish the magnet was a bit stronger, but it has been fine and come in really handy several times already. It felt a bit pricey at $59, but that's only about $10 more than I would have been happy to pay beforehand, and now that it's kicking around and being a valued tool I'm fine with it and would totally recommend it.

Got my Gen 2 Mid Torque boot opened.
The end where the lights are....woud have thought they would have done just cutout for the led and still have a rubber front. Instead, the front end of the boot is complete open...Design flaw or design feature, I'll let you decide

The light isn’t capable of charging a battery, it is? Is the piece circled in green a button or a cover?

Unfortunately it's not capable of charging the M12 battery. The piece you circled is the power switch for the USB port for charging devices. With that said, when I bought my M12 inflator it came with the setup to charge M12 batteries without the typical M12 wall charger. IMO, absolutely useless. I don't remember how long it took to charge the 2Ah battery that was in the kit, but it was multiple times longer than the wall charger takes to charge a CP3.0 pack. If this had M12 charging capability, it would be just as slow. It is nice to have in a pinch, but to me it's more gimmick than useful.

I've wanted one since they were announced. That light looks absolutely perfect for what I want. Compact, crazy bright, can use a high capacity battery for extended run time, magnetic, just perfect. I'll admit, it is a little expensive for what it is, but sometimes convenience is worth the extra price. I have the red lithium USB folding rover flood light and I absolutely love it. However, my only complaint is the battery life. This M12 light to me is like a much better version of that USB light. FedEx is showing it to be delivered tomorrow, I can't wait!

I had that light, it is crazy bright. I ended up selling it recently. The only downside to me is its size. It was too big for the applications i wanted to use it in. Aside from that, it really is a great light. Very bright and built well, you'll love it.

Ive got like 9 rapid chargers, BUT I still keep 2 of the standard chargers around.

WHY. Because low and slow is good for batteries.
Just today, took out the stash - some going as far back as 5-6 years old on my 5.0. Went through all of them and -topped- off the ones that needed to be while in sitting SOC

I grabbed one for my road bag since all of that stuff is M12. They are selling fast. When I looked this morning HD showed 87 available to ship, now when I ordered it was showing 7 available.
