I've got a 3D printer coming this week finally. I'm going to make some wall mounts for my M18 and M12 batteries so I can store them more efficiently. Anyone else done this? I've found a few free files on thingverse, just wondering how they worked out.

I'm surelm you want a reason to give your printer a workout, but a close-fitting hole in 1/2 MDF or plywood works really well for M12s:

Gonna add another request here for an M18 inflator (not compressor). I have a lot of M18 stuff and have refused to buy anything M12 as I don't want to deal with another battery platform, plus the M12 inflator is apparently not 'all that', so here's hoping they bring one out some time soon!

First, let me say that I am stubborn as a mule, so I'll probably hold off of M12 stuff forever if I haven't caved by now even if they're every bit as amazing as people say.

That being said, I agree that there are some useful tools, I don't care for accessories (clothing, speakers, etc.) and most of those items have M18 equivalents (most of which I own) or I have significantly better non-Milwaukee equivalents (like my Hakko soldering setup). The underhood light is probably the thing on that list that I'm most bitter about there not being an M18 equivalent. I've held out this many years without getting one though, so I can't see that changing now.

On that note, I saw mention of a bunch of new (M18) ratchets. Is there somewhere that has a definitive list of all the M18 ratchets (3/8" specifically) and their stats? I generally prefer to hand tighten most of my stuff, but having the ratchet would be handy now and then, especially for some of my more repetitive work or on things with longer fasteners. I have air ratchets but never bother with them - hate air lines!

Also, what's the most recent 3/8" M18 impact? Preferably the stubby impact.

I know a lot of new tools got released recently so I want to figure out what's the latest and greatest and if it's worth buying the newest ones or trying to find a deal on what is now the previous gen.

I wouldn't want an m18 ratchet. The bigger battery and tool wouldn't fit in many places. Love my m12 ratchets, I have the non fuel ones because they are smaller and can get in more places then the fuel versions.

I know they just released a new m18 3/8" stubby. I briefly looked at it and need to go back and check it out and order one.

That's part of why I never grabbed a ratchet before. Thought they might have something in a more compact form factor. Maybe I'll check out the M12 ratchets....what's the best for 3/8"?

Do you know what the part number on the new M18 stubby is? That's the one M18 tool I've had in and out of my 'cart' a million times and never quite pulled the trigger.

Also, has anyone found any deals on the 2136 light? There were some decent deals on the 2135 for a while but the 2136 is so much brighter!

I certainly am looking to give my new printer a workout when it gets here. Also I'm trying to tuck stuff up to the wall as closely as I can but I do really like how you have that setup with your cabinets.

I finally pulled the trigger to get a printer for this exact reason. All the files I printed for batteries and tools from thingiverse have worked great. I got some more batteries and tools over christmas so I need to print some more.

Hole saw? If so, what size?

Those holes are 1 3/4". The batteries droop maybe 10-15deg below horizontal. Any smaller and I think I'd have to have them perfectly aligned to pop them in the holes.

I've added a third row with wider spacing since then to accommodate XCs:

Of course, you already have some M12 infrastructure - all your chargers will charge M12 batteries too! (At least mine will.) Come on over to the dark side. :lol_hitti

I use my M12 stuff more than my M18 stuff.

This is true, many of my chargers are dual M12/M18. You guys may convince me yet. At least M12 tools are cheaper!

Also, hey fellow Canadian! Grew up in the town over (Richmond Hill). All my direct family (parents/siblings/aunts/uncles/cousins) are all still within an hour or so there. Normally visit plenty, but of course Covid has made that a bit of a challenge.

I've always wanted to use one of those forcelogic tools but I just can't justify buying one for the small amount of plumbing I do and the small size of the pipes I'd be doing.

Just got my new backpack sprayer. This should save me a TON of time over the hand pump sprayer I was using.

The new M18 3/8" stubby impact is 2854-20.

If the boxes already come with the dividers, why would you need to buy them unless you lost pieces?

https://www.cpooutlets.com/milwauke...packout-2-drawer-tool-box/miln48-22-8472.html

https://www.cpooutlets.com/milwauke...packout-3-drawer-tool-box/miln48-22-8473.html

Foam for the drawers.

https://www.cpooutlets.com/milwauke...packout-drawer-tool-boxes/miln48-22-8452.html

I can see special combos with tools sold with the boxes and then you dont get the dividers and need to buy them.

How does the $135/150 pricing comparable to other drawer boxes. Crazy expensive in my eyes, will have to assess the quality in person first, and I thought the $90 dolly price was outrageous.

But the racking kit I think is the most overpriced.

So many sarcastic thoughts running through my head... though I do have to admit that the French cleat wall is cool!

But it’s bad Feng Shui to have an angle grinder facing a doorway... sorry, couldn’t help myself.

JP that is a sick setup man, I really like the wall cleat setup and all your custom hangers are awesome. I love that holder you built for your M18 tools too.

I've got the big 2853 M18 Impact, looking at the 2551-20 M12 Surge as I feel the 2853 is not well suited to smaller tasks like driving screws in wood.

What kind of deals should I look out for on the M12? Hoping to get the larger M12 battery with it.

Put this guy together. Belt stuff is from a HF item. eBay for the conversion parts. Works well in tight spots.

Just did the same conversion. It's very, very cool. The HF bets are junk and come apart at the seam in no time (and Yes I have them going the right direction) so I ordered a bunch of replacements from Empire Abrasives and now it's a dream.

My only nitpick is that it's not variable speed. It's all or nothing when you squeeze that trigger.

Actually, a quick change system for that tool would be pretty cool... 3” cut-off, band file, flap wheel... probably a couple of other options that would work with that form factor!!!

...I have an old Ryobi multi-tool that accepts the RIDGID RA drill, RA impact driver and a compact straight cutter that takes a standard jigsaw blade... it was a pretty cool system.

Did you try playing around with the modes? It’s the strongest impact on the market now but I would assume on mode 1 it would slow down... a little curious bc I bought the 2853 in the packout, mostly for the batteries and packout (haven’t used it yet), but that’s what I would assume
