Anyone own the 9" cutoff. GJ Feedback ? Found a 'tube video. Appeared to thermal out too much
I have it, if you try to go to fast or apply too much pressure yeah it doesnt like it. There's a light that changes color when your doing something it doesn't like. If your a pro who is going to use it every week you wont be happy and need the MX version. DIY for occassional use its fine. I cut about 30' of 4-6" patio slab for my neighbor and I had no problems.

not interested in the MX at all...never will get ROI out of that platform. I already own a gasser Husq.

If the mitigating issue is just heat/battery life, I got plenty of batteries to rotate. Aka, akin to a heavy grinding session, I'll rotate about 20 batteries maybe when they get -mid hot - even before they are drained or thermal.

30' of 4-6 slab is quite the workout right there.

Reviving this mega thread. Where did all the traffic go. Maybe it's like me, all red'ed out and hit a plateau ;-)

Are you guys wanting anything from Red that fills a spot you need/want but they don't make ?

For me, aside from their Pinner (love my Grex and don't use it nearly enough to warrant the pin nailer), all I really need from Red is a backpack blower with moooar power and runtime.

I have so many red power tools I should not be splurge buying.

I can't top my last M12 modification... 3" cutoff ... to 1/2" belt sander conversion... everything after that is Meh. Till they come out with some new M12 tool at least.

Actually there is one hole in my stash. A cordless Multi Tool.

I have a Fein 500 and 700.
Always say I will buy a cordless ossc. just to have in the stash but the ones I have tried don't come close on me wanting to use them over the corded.

I'm waiting for that mower to come out. I'm moving to a new house this coming month and I am debating if I leave my old gas mower behind or not. I'm thinking I should take it because Milwaukee probably won't release the mower this year with all the supply chain shortages.

It's interesting on the mower. Going to have to revisit watching that Ryobi u tube video...

Runtime aside and quietness, the only important factor would be mulching capability unless ur a bagger

The only Yellow Tools in my stash is the 40V Blower and Pole Trimmer. This was before Red or Teal even offered similar offerings.

I gotta say, the 9AH 40V batteries - I get pretty dang runtime on them. Even today -- years later. My neighbor has the M18. He's always throttle on/off on/off. I suppose to save battery.

I go full bore with the Big Brick Dewalts

As I keep on typing, I just realized there are other things....

Their Gen 1 nailers were meh..however, brand and pinner and framing nailer got ++++ out the door.
Still waiting on their get 2 finish nailer.

Grinder has replaced my Metabo's, I use their SDS more than my Hiltis, and the long list goes on.

In the realm of all things woodworking, I still prefer all things Green - Fesfool and Hitachi nailers.

Eh. Before this gets modded or just PM me, but why did he get the boot.

He did seem to be the one that ignited this red thread every other day.

I thought my last large purchase of the Copper Press was pretty extravagant, but waiting on delivery of the cutoff saw this week.
I did look at their lasers, but I'm pretty content with my PLS, 2 Bosch and 1 Leica. I do have way more red batteries then AA or blue batteries. Maybe rev 2 of their lasers will be tempting

Support from Milwaukee has been a great experience bar none. EService or the nice gals that pick up the phone. Always willing to help.
I just forward a copy of my receipt to their direct email, etc.

For all you pros or Joes. If the MX packs was $200 each, would you be investing in the MX platform.

I really wouldn't mind a large cutoff saw or a MX powered snowblower ;-). As a weekend warrior joe.

I wonder which trades have gone MX. Sure, certain situations is easy for no cord. I just don't see the ROI of these relative to run time, etc - whereas on a corded equivalent.

Others may have a better/more specific answer, but he was very opinionated about both tools and politics and wasn’t much on segregating the two … particularly during the COVID freak out last year.

Ah. I wasn't paying much to the CV threads but yes, it's all sorta kinda jogging my memory there was more than a handful that needed to be cleaned up.

I am a bag guy although maybe I should be mulching? I don't exactly have a green thumb, don't know the difference between the two other than the cut grass goes into my yard waste bin instead of staying on the ground.

No matter … in typical SBD fashion, the line has been discontinued.

I have like six of the 40ah batteries. Came in the kits. Kinda blown away by how not long the 40V platform lassted. I think it was like 3 years and then it got discontinued. I don't follow Yellow tools much but back then, FlexVolt did exist but I swear all the YouTube videos, all the tool media channels, etc - Dewalt was stating their 40V was committed to their pro line and the FlexVolt was geared to their consumers.....

It would be interesting to see if MX stays - as long as people are buying the platform

I can’t recall the timeline, but did yellow 40V fold perhaps because of EGO 56? My brother went EGO for mower, etc. and liked everything about it. I grabbed their blower, hand not backpack, as well as the weed whacker. The blower is insane. I can stand on my deck, hit Turbo, and clear the pool cover. Will do it today in fact.

I bought the weedwacker because it came with charger and battery and the sale price made me do it. I don’t even cut my own grass!

I don’t think Milwaukee will abandon its MX line … but I am interested to see how much incremental investment the line receives (i.e., how many new tools get released following initial launch).

As I stated earlier, Dewalt initially characterized FlexVolt as something that would transform and revolutionize the brand … but since the initial launch they have invested very little. Instead, they seem to have moved on to their Atomic and Xtreme platforms.

Eh, never did follow Ego. When I went Yellow, it was about the 40V system (runtime) and I wanted a blower I could use more than 10 minutes without changing a battery.

The market for OPE is trending cordless. Toro release some interesting 2 stage cordless snowblower and a ZTR cordless as well....
Power and runtime not there yet. Especially this time of the year, when leaves are dropping, and it's leaf cleanup galore - don't compare to a gasser backpack. It will get there in time. But hopefully without the weight

I finally found a Milwaukee tool that hasnt really impressed me, or maybe I had higher expectations of it after reading all the rave reviews here about it.

Got the M12 1/2" stubby kit with a free 6.0 battery for $215 after an HD deal and 10% code. Tried it this weekend on the lug nuts on a 2019 F150 and a 2020 4Runner. It would be faster to break them loose with a breaker bar than the stubby. Im going to try again with a 6.0 battery since I was using a 3.0 at the time

Concept is the grass gets chopped up finer than side-discharging, falls down into the grass, then decomposes faster because it's chopped finer. I don't have a green thumb either. I put a mulching cover on my JD riding mower with the existing 3-in-1 blades this spring and I've found that there are far less grass clippings sitting on-top of my lawn as compared to when I was side-discharging, and I don't have to spend time emptying bags or my lawn sweeper. Seems like a win-win to me so far. I think I'm going to try actual mulching blades next year. From what I understand, you can end up getting excessive thatch depending on your situation which can be a downside.

Regarding this thread, I'm also at the "plateaued" state and don't have the need to hound deals and/or new tools. I have pretty much everything I need to efficiently do the work that I need to. Someday I'll replace my corded HF impact wrench with an M12 stubby for convenience, but that moved WAY down my list after seeing them put up similar numbers on TTC.

Yes!

An M18 Outdoor (Leaf/Twig) Vacuum with metal impeller to mulch up debris. Blowing leaves off the driveway is OK but they still have to be picked up at some point. There are lots of times when I would rather just vacuum up tree debris and dump in a bin.

I hear that complaint about the stubby quite a bit, but I've never experienced it with mine. I've used it on the lug nuts on all four of our vehicles, ranging from a hybrid Rav4 on the low end of torque to a 3/4 F250 4X4 and never experienced anything but quick removal. I also have a 2015 4Runner and it spins them off with no hesitation.

I torque all of my lug nuts to spec, so I'm not trying to remove something that was put on at 500 foot pounds.

Were yours torqued to spec?

I question the intent of the 1/2 stubby, Doesn't seem like it would be really strong enough for that. I have a 3/8 which I think it is great, but I don't know about a 1/2" version would work for lugnuts.

I gave up waiting on Milwaukee and went with an eGo, which has been really good. At the upper end, even the battery has a 5-year warranty.

Good question and I dont know off the top of my head. The 4Runners is the old ladies, and she has the Toyota service plan, so Im sure that the were zipped on with an impact gun and over spec.
The F150 is my work truck and in the same boat as above. I will try again this weekend, and check specs prior.

PWS - I don't think u will see a vac mulcher. Those type of tool designs don't last as the inevitable rock or rocks will break the impeller. Tools that don't last is bad press....

Same here, but after reading about it here, the reviews made it sound like it was a step down from the mid-torque and could handle it no problem. Bad thing is I had a mid-torque I sold recently, so thats why I grabbed the M12 stubby at that deal price

I have the high, mid and stubby....
I rarely grab the high these days

I actually thought the stubby would be the daily. I used it briefly---wasn't that impressed and went back to the mid torque. Sizewise, it's not like I needed the clearance of the stubby for the applications at hand.

Ha, getting older. Always looking for lighter more ergonomic stuff. Have always been M18 primarily except for M12 tools like the press tools, caulk tools, etc. These days I do look at the M12 offerings more and more.

Similar to MobileDynamics, I have a High Mid and Stubby. I also have an older 3/8 impact that I almost never use and a 1/4 impact that see a bit of use.

I would say the High, Mid and Stubby are a pretty nice combination if you have the two platforms(M12/M18)

I always torque my F150 lugs to 150# and put a thin film of anti-seize on the taper to prevent them locking up from corrosion/rust. After 150k miles (and 8 years) I think there is some minor damage/burrs on a couple of the lug cones (or the mating seat), as there's almost always one or two that take a lot more than 150# to break free.
