I might need to download and RTFM for this ??

M12 Rocket Light. Height appears to be either at compact/base height or fully extended. Not adjustable in between I don't see a way to lock the column at various lengths. I

It's my new fave. M12 and the handheld flood. Maybe I'm having a moment , but the *gen2* floody at 1300 lumens seems brighter than the M12. Not a scientific side by side test. Just more like turning on the M12 to test this new thing and it doesn't appear as bright as the floody

Just looking at the M12 rocket and the base. Sure wish they made the same form factor in a M18. I got easily 7X more M18's than the small parcel of 12 batteries for this. Footprint wise, don't see it could/would have made the form factor that much larger. Wishful thinking I suppose

Swapped the 3/8” head out for the “1/4” tall shift knob assembly” on the new high speed ratchet. A great ratchet just got even better.

You really should send that to milwaukee! Might inspire them to be a little more intelligent with their designs!

Nice, do you like it better? I've been thinking of switching to the tall "shift knob" on my HS ratchet but I haven't had a problem switching it yet. It's so much better than the prev non-hs Fuel ratchet. I love the HS so much better than old Fuel ratchet.

But then again I don't wear gloves when working & I don't wrench on cars for a living anymore. I've never got into a situation where I got stuck backing out a bolt & couldn't reverse the direction, well not since I stopped working at a shop.

That's pretty funny, when MW announced the HS ratchet & sent them to reviewers they all specifically stated you couldn't use the tall shift to convert a 3/8" to 1/4" & vise versa. I suspected that was BS & it was all just marketing, you just confirmed that it can be done. Lol

It was pretty easy to guess it would work based on the parts diagrams of both the 1/4” and 3/8” models. Every part is shared except for the shift knob assembly.

I agree, the switches on new high speed ratchets are so much easier to operate than the previous Fuel ratchets. Living in the Northeast however, costs you some dexterity when you have to wrench in low temperatures. That’s what made me dump the previous Fuel ratchet, sometimes I had to use pliers to switch the ratchet from forward to reverse! I haven’t had this problem at all with the HS ratchet, but I fully expect to reap the benefits of this tall shift knob as we head into winter - even more so when wearing gloves. That aside, I just plain prefer the way a raised shift knob on a ratchet feels when working. It’s easier and lets me work faster.

I totally agree with you on the HS ratchet being LEAGUES better than the previous Fuel ratchet. In my opinion this new ratchet has no weaknesses - they took care of every single complaint I had with the previous generation, and I would recommend this new high speed over every other cordless ratchet on the market, including the new brushless Snap-on, which I also own.

Ah I see, thanks. It doesn't get cold here so no problem with that. I've been curious & was waiting to see some feedback but it seems like not many are buying up the new HS & other than you I haven't heard of anyone else getting the tall shift knob. I'm just gonna stock with 3/8" drive though if I do get the tall shift knob.

Speaking of the HS popularity, I agree, it's by far the best cordless ratchet available right now IMO but it seems not many are catching on. I'm still seeing people buy the old brushed MW ratchet more, I just can't understand that. When the HS first got announced I had no interest in getting it. Then one day while using my old Fuel ratchet, I sat there thinking about how much I hated the damn thing. Hated how heavy & unbalanced it was & hated how slow it was (getting the job done quicker doesn't matter much to me anymore but still the old one was painfully slow. Maybe I'm just spoiled by my old IR 2 speed air ratchets) . That night I "pre-ordered" the HS & at full price too. I've never purchased any of my MW tools at full price, was always during a deal or sale. And I have absolutely no regrets either. Couldn't be happier.

The only "weakness" I see in the HS which really isn't one is that the head can get pretty toasty if using it for long periods of time. But then again all the other powered ratchets I have used do too. Maybe I'm just trippin but this one seems to get toastier quicker. Not a big deal to me though it's not very often where I have the need to use it for long periods of time.

Wow I'm surprised to hear you like it better than the new Snap-on though. I saw when you got it. I love that ring light it has!

I can’t say that I like it “better” than my Snap-on, since they each have different strengths - I just can’t recommend it when the new Milwaukee is just as good, at half the price. As much as I like my brushless Snap-on, I probably wouldn’t own it if I had used the Milwaukee high speed first.

Thinking of better ways to store screws, bolts, nuts and thinking of going with the packout organizer with pull out bins. They are spending, but if I plan on building a collection why look elsewhere?

I won a Milwaukee prize package on Acme Tools earlier this year, I've been too busy over the summer/fall to log onto GJ, so this is my first post in a l-o-n-g time. I would have preferred to win a big bunch of tools, but this was pretty cool and an awesome surprise. Milwaukee ******** kit, MW camp chairs, and 2 Toadfish MW non-tip drink holders. All of these items are of impressive quality, pretty cool!

Thanks to @javyLSU I bought the tall shift knob for my HS ratchet. Well he didn't actually convince me to buy it but he did give me the extra nudge to finally get it.

Wow, I really like it. From looking at photos I was afraid it would stick out too much but with the boot on it's perfect IMO. MW really did good with this one. Thanks Javy. ;)

With the recessed knob it's actually not that hard to switch even with the boot, for me anyway. The switch is much easier to turn on the HS compared to the 1st Fuel. But if ya got fat fingers or wearing gloves it may not be that easy or when it's cold like javy mentioned.

I don't have skinny fingers & it's still not hard for me switch the recessed one on the HS but when I had the 1st Fuel it was hard for me sometimes. Found myself having to fumble with it sometimes. Now with the tall shift knob I can tell it should be really easy especially with greasy hands or in tight spaces. Can't wait to put it to the test.

Can you get the HS ratchet with the tall shift knob already on it?

I don't think so, not that I'm aware of anyway.

I picked the HS when it pretty much came out (as in when dealers started getting stock) but the tall shift knob wasn't available anywhere until months after, just the boot.

I bought the tall shift knob from Home Depot online. $35, free shipping, & only took one business day to arrive (ordered Tues night, received today). $35 is not bad of a price IMO considering the boot costs $30 for just a piece of rubber. But yeah it would have been nice if you could just buy it that way. I can't really think of a reason why anyone would prefer the recessed over the tall shift knob.

:unsure::unsure: Where's the M18 Nibbler
In the market for one and went looking at Red's offerings with nothing in sight

Knowing my luck, they will just release a 10 gauge MX nibbler before then

Do you guys think that the m12 underbody light is worth having for a guy without a lift?

I have been talking myself out of it for that reason.

I have had the underhood light for years, and I have no regrets.

I intend to buy it as soon as it's available (for use with my lift), it looks a little clumsy to use on the floor though.

Only if you are going to use it a lot and there's no other light that suits the need better. It looks like it can be handy and possibly also in non-automotive situations. But its exp by my terms especially if it doesnt work well how I am going to use it. I use a plethora of lights when working underneath; orig M18 flood, M12/M18/USB sticks, M12 rover, M18 Rover, etc. I just grab what fits the need, excluding batteries I could use 3 of those for what the underbody costs. Even when I use the underhood, theres still 2-3 more lights into play. I just feel for how I work the underbody would be in the way often, not provide enough light, or tough to get the light where I want it. It may be better for on a lift work than without...

It seems expensive for what it is. I have and love the under-hood light and the M12 Rover and a bigger M18 Rover flood, and they've served me very well.

If it were $129, I'd probably find an excuse to own it, but I'm just a DIY doofus in my garage...

My HD is intentionally keeping the deep org off the floor, last week I made them pull down a box w/ 3, bought one, guy put out the other 2, then days later they were back in the rafters with the other 3 boxes. Tonight I used another pro reward to get one. Must be a special deal next week they want stock for, can't see it going much on sale plus I used rewards to buy them, if they go on sale surely someone will buy them up before I could get them. Never seen them keep things in the rafters like that when online it shows they have the stock.

Wish there was a Milwaukee mobile workbench this season. Bought the 42" husky red one to pickup tomorrow, they just got new stock, $268 after coupon is perfect for my basement G&A workspace, hope I can mount a vise to the wood top for AR builds.

Ordered the backpack 9' hose on the same coupon order....

On my AR box I had to bolt through the top into the box as the top was too thin and the vise moved to much for my liking. I will build a butcherblock top for it at some point but it is low on the priority list.

Yeah thought same thing when I looked at in store, wood top is thin, no prob to drill through the metal box top. Not that AR vise needs to be that heavy duty just rather not break the wood top and buy another.

I have a question for those with the 15ga finish nailer…

HD had/has them for 250 and I bought one. I have a large collection of M18 Fuel and love them…but I read a good many not so great reviews of this particular tool. I bought it and am now thinking I should return it (NIB) and wait and get the 2nd gen due out in January. I do not have an immediate need for a cordless…so waiting is a small inconvenience…

what say the GJ crew?

I have the old old standard M12 ratchet, and I don't really use it all that much because it's just kind of blah, and I'll use the stubby impact anywhere I can fit it.

But I've been looking at the Fuel vs HS Fuel trying to decide for a Christmas gift for myself. The HD site reviews seem dissatisfied with the torque output of the HS being at only 35 ft-lbs, compared to 55 ft-lbs for the regular Fuel. I'm just a home gamer / hobbyist, so I don't necessarily need all-out speed like I'm working flat rate. But I also don't want to waste time either.

Sounds like you're 100% behind the HS, so how do you find the torque? Any reason or situation a person would rather use the original Fuel?

I didn't get it from Ace, but I really like mine. I kinda wish the saw had some kind of pivot at the end, it would make binding a lot easier to avoid, but that's definitely not enough reason to not get it.
