I have the old old standard M12 ratchet, and I don't really use it all that much because it's just kind of blah, and I'll use the stubby impact anywhere I can fit it.

But I've been looking at the Fuel vs HS Fuel trying to decide for a Christmas gift for myself. The HD site reviews seem dissatisfied with the torque output of the HS being at only 35 ft-lbs, compared to 55 ft-lbs for the regular Fuel. I'm just a home gamer / hobbyist, so I don't necessarily need all-out speed like I'm working flat rate. But I also don't want to waste time either.

Sounds like you're 100% behind the HS, so how do you find the torque? Any reason or situation a person would rather use the original Fuel?
A lot of the reviews on Home Depot about the high speed seem to be from people that just don’t know what a cordless ratchet is intended for. Is the 1st gen fuel ratchet stronger? Yes, but who cares? It’s not by a large amount at all, and if you’re working on a fastener that you can’t break free by hand you probably should be using an impact or a breaker bar.

There’s nothing that would make me reach for the 1st gen fuel over the new high speed, especially in a DIY setting. It’s smaller (in both head size and overall size), lighter, and faster. That first gen fuel ratchet is what originally made me buy a Snap-on. I couldn’t stand it, the weight and the difficulty in operating the switch being my biggest complaints.

I have an M12 grease gun, has anybody figured out a hard case to use with it? I really don't like putting something like this in a bag.

I got one of the packout ammo cans to transport the pump, it fits well and has room for hoses, etc. I was thinking I wanted a sealed bottom container so that if its put away "wet," it won't leak everywhere.

It fits right side up, too, but off to one side. Cutting out some of the slots for the divider walls would probably yield more room to place the pump in different positions.

Anyone have any trigger issues with the M18 Gen 1 string trimmer? Tried multiple batteries and unit is getting power as the turtle and rabbit are lighting up. Just won't fire up. Seems like a bad switch.

Not eligible for e service either apparently. Probably need to **** it up and go to a service center along with a bunch of 9.0s. Last time around they got mad at me for not picking up my warranty items timely. Can't blame them as it took me 3 months to get back there...

FWIW I picked up the Milwaukee 16 inch chain saw. I have about 1.25 acres behind my house that I wanted to thin out and get rid of all the trees about 6 inch in diameter and smaller. This thing is great. I am not sure how long the battery lasts but it outlasts my stamina at age 63. I have used it for about 2 hours at a time and it is really handy to just pull the trigger and have it run and not worry about gas and it is fairly quiet. It does go through bar oil but not an issue

M12 Polisher worked well using it for the first time yesterday. Our bicycle club was in a parade yesterday, and I needed to polish up a few things on my vehicle (tow vehicle) before the parade. It did the trick!

Should fit in a packout box no problem. Could also find one of the hard cases for the m18 grease gun and use that. I keep my m18 grease gun in the zipper case it came with.

LOL "packout ammo can". After I use the pump, I run it for a second after detaching everything to try and clear out the chamber.

Yeah I was just thinking the same thing on his post, but wish the fit wasn't so tight. Seems like no red tool fits ideally in any packout piece.

If mailing li ion batteries wasn't such a pain, I'd say I would make a deal with someone... we each order the 3/6 combo, when they arrive, I'll send the 6 to you and you send the 3 to me.

I need to do some right angle drilling since it is just a bit too near to a corner (0.75" which is just slightly smaller than the radius of my M12 fuel surge driver). Nothing too heavy duty. I am in the M12 system.]

Milwaukee makes 3 as far as I can tell.

2415 - right angle drill
2457 - right angle impact wrench
2467 - right angle impact driver

From what people have said - the 2467 is too big. I am tempted to get the 2457 and use it with an adapter so I can use it for both drilling and driving. Any reason not to?

Drilling with an impact wrench sounds... suboptimal. In any case (other than the drill) you'll have to buy hex bits. I have the RA drill because I use it a lot and I can use it with standard jobber or machine length bits, but if I only had the occasional issue and I wanted the most clearance possible, I would get the 1/4" hex right angle adapter. Here's a shot of both with ultra short hex bits installed.

There is also the M12 installation driver that comes with a right angle attachment, 1/4" hex bit holder, drill chuck, and an offset 1/4" hex bit holder. Milwaukee has the drill bits with a hex shank and utilizing the offset bit holder should get you there. You can add the right angle attachment too if needed.

Holy cow, me wanty

Ordered in store via the pro desk so I could use my $75 off $500 in-store only coupon. Feel like the price is higher than 499.98, every time a new Milwaukee storage or box thing hits the site, the price usually increases soon after, happened with the tool cart and some of the new boxes, even packout stuff I have seen it happen to.

I wouldn't exactly say I'm addicted to Milwaukee, but the M12 caulking gun is, as far as I'm concerned, the best on the market/ available today. And I'm very partial to the Fastback utility knives.

But what impressed me most when receiving it back in the day, was the Toolbag that came with the M12 caulking gun, other manufacturers would definitely charge extra for such a well made, sturdy & versatile bag.

Kind regards,
Oliver

Make sure to post pics when it arrives. I’ve had that on my wish list since I found it on the HD site last month, but can’t bring myself to buy it since most of my other storage is blue. It looks to be a really nice locker…

Will do, should be here in about 2 weeks. Supposedly it weighs 240lbs, which is pretty heavy duty, 2000lb rating but each mounted shelf is 150lbs... If it was $100 cheaper I would replace my ammo cabs (light at 74lbs) with it, they are 56*21*16 and the Milwaukee is 63*27*22, considering the wheels the same height the extra 6" W&D would of been ideal.

My intended use will be tool storage, things I dont have cases for or not great fit in packouts, like the 9" cutoff saw.

I'm guessing their initial stock was 200, 190 left, so am I only the 10th crazy person to order it lol

Having a 20 dollar off a hundred coupon I went to Northern Tool to purchase a Milwaukee Packout 22 at $139. To my surprise they were on sale for $99.99. Added a 2 dollar marker to get me over a hundred and they gladly took my 20 dollar off coupon. The packput cost me $80.63. All Milwaukee packput items were on sale. What a deal.

On Toolnuts product page for the M18 0880 vac it says this, Please note this product is not compatible with Milwaukee's 9.0Ah batteries.

That applies to Gen2? Uh really..

Is it physically too large to fit in the space?

I'd guess its a hold over from their gen 1 description.

I've wondered why Milwaukee made the second gen M18 vacuum, but kept the same 0880-20 part number. I don't know of any other items they've done that with.

Converted my 3" cut off M12 to a belt sander a few yrs ago... kept needing the cut off tho... so... bought another today at HD with a gift card... it was rough paying full price.

Also snagged FOUR 2 AH M12 batteries... no-name brand for next to nothing on eBay. In a year if ONE still works... I'm plus on the deal.

Not in the Gen1, I never used Gen2 before I sold it.

A 9.0 lives in my Gen1 and has for years. Yeah the new model and same part was a bad idea, especially since there were many changes besides killing the V battery compatibility. Heck the hoses are different part numbers.

From Milwaukees website, With 30+ minutes of run time on a M18™ REDLITHIUM™ HIGH DEMAND™ 9.0 Battery Pack, its ideal for extended spot and area clean up. lol

Then a review which doesnt say what battery caused the issue, "Didn’t know there was a known battery issue before buying, don’t know why they would still be for sale, used it less than 10 times after the battery died while I was using it, it no longer works with any battery I have"

Maybe I am thinking of the 12.0ah not fitting in the gen 1 vacuum, then.

They did this with the M18 hexagon flood light. I forget what it's called, but they released an updated model to accomodate 9.0 batteries. The part was available to order separately to convert an older light. Same model number. I want to say the lumens increased at one point too, but I might be remembering that wrong.

I forgot about that one, also I think the pump had a revision without a part number change also.

I picked up a 2136 tower light when it was recently on sale. I have an older 2135 tower light also. I think I'll sell the 2135 now.

2136 is definitely heavier. The bar to carry it by does help you hold it by the center of gravity, which was something that made carrying the 2135 harder to do.

6000 vs the older 3000 lumens is noticeable, but to me, it seems most of the difference is in how far away it can light up something.

After 5 years of using a couple of great, but limited 12V Max Bosch tools, I'm looking to get a handful of 18V cordless tools sometime in the next year. For no particular reason, I like Milwaukee.

Right now, I'd like to get a 18v drill and also an impact driver - both will be used to finish the interior of my new garage. I see this at Home Depot:

Is this a reasonable set and price? I know I want brushless, but I'm unsure if the term "Fuel" has a particular meaning?

If I purchase a larger battery in the future, will the charger from this set charge it?

What is another good place to buy - if not home depot?

I don't have plans for many other cordless tools - I'd like a mid torque impact for the garage, a little blower to clear the patio, deck, and garage, and possibly a small circular saw down the line. I have a number of high quality corded tools and won't upgrade those to battery since most are rarely used.

thanks for helping me get started...

The way I see the Milwaukee models the past few years is; Fuel is the latest greatest best you can buy, Brushless is the previous generations Fuel tool debadged, not Fuel or Brushless is basic tools which haven't changed much over the years and should never be bought if there is a Fuel or Brushless model. For some reason I feel like the margins on the brushed tools are higher and thats one reason they keep them around, or its **** you into the platform with cheap tools to get you on board to upgrade or buy more later.
