Many tools don’t work well without the proper accessories. I think a stash of batteries is just one of the needs of these electric tools. I have six batteries and a couple chargers. That might be overkill for some people (and not enough for others) but I don’t want the batteries to be the weak link in my work flow.

While I'd generally agree that enough batteries are a part of the accessory pack of cordless tools, I'd also say that the blower eats through batteries like they are basically free. I was always able to get almost enough or just enough out of my gen 1 blower with a single 9.0 at my last house. If I needed a second battery I'd blow through up to 1/2 of a 5.0 second battery. The total amount of surface area covered wasn't what I'd consider enough to justify the usage. At my new place I don't need to cover nearly as much surface area with the blower and I can get through everything I need on a single 9.0. I think the blowers are decent but I also think they don't have enough jam for how much juice they take to run.

For a home gamer, managing expectations on what the tool can do is important. I think marketing the gen 1 blower as a full on pro level OPE was a bit of an exaggeration. I think there was a gen 2 blower but it wasn't much of an improvement if I recall? We'll see how the dual battery blower does. Call me a skeptic but I don't expect twice the perf compared to the gen 1 blower.

All my other M18 OPE has been great overall and I don't hate my blower but I'd say it is the tool I'm the least happy with of the OPE bunch.

I think I'm going to buy the Packout Crate Cover over on 'Ebay.
It's for the daily driver....inside the packet crate, holds 3 things......hitch extension, hitch mount and a front tow eye hook+ extension. Basically becomes parking protectors if it get's parked streetside. Basically gives me 4 inches of metal up front and out back.

The big surprise is that the CP3.0 battery is running 2.0 cells. WTF? No wonder it performs worse than the new 2.5 HO.

This youtuber has awesome videos. I can't figure out why he only has 3K subscribers. He has about 6 months of comparison videos that rival ProjectFarm et al.

Something is up with the CP3.0 battery he used for testing. At first I thought his may have been defective until he showed the cells in his. It shouldn't have those cells. I believe it should have the same cells as the XC6.0.

In the comments he said he got that pack from Amazon. So now I think he got a counterfeit. I know there are generic MW batteries but in the past I never thought counterfeit MW batteries were a common thing until I actually got one, a M12 6.0.

He did say he was gonna buy another CP3.0 from HD so until he tests another CP3.0 again I wouldn't believe the test results from that video.

Yeah I'm pretty sure his CP3.0 is fake.

His CP3.0 shown on the left. See the M12 logo how it looks funny, the "12" is lower than the "M", that's how they often look on the counterfeits. The red color for "Milwaukee" is darker & faint on the fakes, my fake one is like that too. I know it's hard to tell the color difference unless looking with another pack side by side & it's arguable. But another giveaway is his pack just says 3.0. It's supposed to say CP3.0.


His "CP3.0" on top. Genuine MW CP3.0s should have a screw on the bottom of the base just like the HO CP2.5 shown. The screw is one of the improvements they made for the M12 CP packs when the CP3.0 came out to address the issue of the CP packs breaking apart under heavy use.

I'm not sure that the labeling issues you bring up are evidence of counterfeit. It appears to me that early CP3.0 batteries look exactly like the ones he shows in the video. Milwaukee's website shows the original labeling:

I don't think it is likely that Milwaukee purposely misled consumers, but perhaps there was a supply chain/manufacturing issue.

I have the same style of 3.0Ah 12V battery by Bosch. This makes me want to open them up and see what's inside.

Another indicator is how the fake battery came apart - the red plastic on a genuine Milwaukee battery is one piece only and does not come apart at the top like in his video.

I was curious and opened one of my CP3.0s and found Samsung INR18650-30Q cells inside. My 3.0s were all made in 2018.

I did like the video though, and would be interested to see a update/follow up with a genuine Milwaukee CP3.0.

Counterfeits don't always use generic cells. Older ones get cheap so they'll use em if they are inexpensive.

I never noticed that MW's site shows a pic of "3.0" instead of "CP3.0" (maybe that's what counterfeiters copy for reference?). Looks like CP3.0s came out/announced late 2016, not sure when they were actually available to buy. My oldest CP3.0 has a date code of early 2018 & it says CP3.0 as do all my other ones. He said he got his in 2020 from Amazon but I couldn't read the date code on his 3.0 from the video. Amazon is not an authorized MW dealer so his pack could have a high chance of being fake.

I believe the screw on the bottom should be on all CP3.0s & only on the CP3.0s. CP1.5 & CP2.0 don't have it, even on later manufactured ones. I remember that being an important upgrade that was discussed a lot when it came out.

EDIT: I was able to find pics of early CP3.0s (from consumers, not MW stock photos) that did say only "3.0" instead of "CP3.0" but they did have the bottom screw & not the 2 piece red top.

I still think his CP3.0 is a fake.

But yeah, so far I do like his videos, just subscribed. Easy to understand him, doesn't talk like he drank 10 cups of coffee before making a video like PF, speaks english instead of stupid made up words, & isn't annoyingly shouty like some other channels. Thanks for letting us know about him.

100% agree - the memory function alone was enough for me to spend the bucks on this unit. So far I've been impressed with the power/speed it has.

I think this was posted previously about the chain saw but not sure if it was also posted about the pole saw. This thing leaks bar oil if you store it vertically. I'm not sure if it still leaks if you flip it 180* but I hope not. Seems like a huge miss to me since they have specific packout products designed to store these vertically.



Does anyone know if these are safe to store upside down when full of bar oil or does this particular attachment need to be stored horizontally when filled with bar oil?

I store mine bar up/pointed to the sky. Have to figure out how to store my M18 chainsaw the same way.

I store mine vertically in the packout mount you mentioned. I solved the leaking issue by emptying the reservoir before storing.

Sounds like I can store the pole saw bar side up instead of down? For chainsaws maybe not so much

Chainsaws gonna leak yo, store them horizontally and slightly crack the cap for storage.

It’s important to note that oil tanks cannot simply vent into the atmosphere, as this could lead to the oil leaking onto the operator during use. To avoid your chainsaw from leaking oil whist in storage, the best solution is to drain the chainsaw of its bar oil and fuel mix and store the chainsaw empty.

If you need to keep oil in the tank, then the best way to vent your chainsaws oil tank is to lay the chainsaw on its side with the oil cap pointing upwards and open the cap slightly. This will reduce the pressure from building up in the oil tank during fluctuations in temperature. Just make sure you remember to tighten the filler cap again before the next time you used it.



I think I'll have to mount my chainsaw on a shelf, horizontally, with a sign that says either "Hail to the king, baby" or "Who wants some? Whos next?". Or maybe just "Groovy".

So I've descended into complete ridiculousness. I've decided to use my sticker cutter to cut out a mask for this and then paint it behind my chainsaw when I make a shelf for it. Everyone will know what is supposed to be there when the chainsaw is out doing work.

I store my M18 Pole Saw horizontally. hanging from J hooks screwed into the garage ceiling. I pull a plastic bag over the bar and the oil tank to catch the inevitable drips.

The Big Dog was lonely so I had to get Little Pup for company Another example of HD's deals sucking me in. 2554-22 3/8 stubby kit, "Special Buy", Driver, charger and 2 batteries. $249. The only one remaining in the province and it was "hidden" at the HD and the guy in the Tool section said it was gone.. Got lucky to find it, hidden in the upper storage. Makes me go Hmmmm. Seemed suspicious lol.

All I can say is that I better effing LOVE this M12 rover light. I've had to spend 2 hours on the phone straightening out a problem with my shipment and making sure that I get the stupid thing. One call 1 HD support, one call to OnTrack which was about 30 minutes on hold and then 2 more calls back to HD customer service. What a freaking nightmare....

I wonder if that's a Canada-specific SKU? Your link takes me to the HD Canada site, and I can't change stores to a US one. I tried entering the SKU into the US site, and the product doesn't come up.

Do you have a copy of the 3D model file? I can slice it and see how long it takes to print and if I have enough Z axis for it. It is probably a long print job.
