Sound like the kind of advice you might hear echoing in the halls of the GJ forum. I saw that today while researching home made sheet metal brakes. There are really cool full magazine editions of Popular mechanics on Google books. Here is the edition I was enjoying.

I hate to break the news to you. Fred died of old age, and I bought that hammer at the rummage sale his wife had after he died.
The hammer still works just fine in spite of the fact that it is 70 years old.
I use it and throw it in my toolbox with no respect for its age.

That hammer is the same hammer his great-grandfather owned. The handle has been changed three times, the head once. But it's the same hammer!

Ah, back when hardware stores sold quality tools!

Most still do, I guess. It just that the Internet has better selection and is and cheaper...
