I would have a tough time living without at least one. It is extremely versatile - most tools cannot even be used without it. Most importantly, I can use it to wipe my @ss when necessary

Now about 40 years ago.... We got some big balloons and a helium bottle. Timed cannon fuse and cut a length for a one minute burn. Filled three balloons with helium and attached those to a balloon with acetylene and oxygen mix. It ascended quickly and out of sight. It lit up the late afternoon sky with a flash, then a few seconds later the boom caused dust to rain down from the rafters of the shop.

Our story if questioned was to blame it on the Space Shuttle....

I have seen/heard it. I wouldn't try it. But, I don't use acetylene any more. I've been using propane for about 25 years.

We started with a Latex glove filled with oxy-acetylene and set it off in the corner of the property outside. We had set off M-100s before but this was like a bomb. That's why we came up with the atmospheric detonation.

At a backyard party (my house) my roommate filled a 55gal drum liner with oxy acetylene and NOS. And floated it into the fire pit. I was about 40’ away and felt like I got punched in the chest!
