I bought a Kent-Moore carb tool about 26 years ago. Adjusted for inflation, I fouled up about as much as a buyer might on that.

Crazy. We used $10 screwdrivers on spacecraft but a surgical screwdriver is $300+.
There is a high degree of traceability and final checking and high quality manufacturing behind that.

But yes, medical equipment has ******** prices. Most of that money goes towards certification and people pushing papers. Who cares, it's up to the patients to pay for it, and those are easy to exploit :)

NASA says pfft:

Ironically the company that designed that drill was the only one to successfully finished a rover drilling test for NASA here in Arizona. They attributed their design to the fact they just used off the shelf hardware instead of building tailored made stuff for drilling.

That's not bad.

Wait until you see how much the screws cost...

Wait until you see what they bill the insurance company for both. And you wonder why your premiums and deductables are high, and your coverage stops low. Then there's the genuine S/O surgical implant torque wrench for Implants, measures in something like mm/kgs, and sterilizable. I asked my dentist if I could get it after the procedure (always wanted a superlight torque wrench for carb jets), he told me I'd have to pay for it, and showed me what they paid for it...
Um, no, More like hell no.

Buy anything for the fire service and see how crazy prices are. $20 shovel at farm store is $120 for exact same thing from a fire service distributor

You failed us by not posting a PN so someone could try the student purchase program. :(

Surgeons around the world be like 'pfft you call that expensive?'

The dad of a friend from college designed surgical tools. I had no idea until I asked about the picture of an AC Cobra (original). Then dad decided they needed a bigger boat so they bought the boat company because that was ”cheaper”. Then came half an island in the Bahamas plus a sea plane to get there..

You better check what insurance companies actually pay for it. And then wonder where you premiums go.

P.S. Your dentist's implant torque wrench shows torque in N*cm
