"The Nack" utility knife

I saw a knife today that a customer had called "The Nack". It was all aluminum with a revolver like cartridge of replacement knife blades. I have never seen anything like it.

Started looking around the web, for replacement blades he requested, and can't find it anywhere. I can find a different version that has a plastic housing. Assuming the knife has been discontinued.
Don't know if the blades from the plastic version will fit in the aluminum version.

Kind of a neat knife. Thought you guys might want to see it.
The only thing i don't like are the special blade cartridges.

the knife is supposed to be the greatest thing ever., but can't find it anywhere. Made by (or distributed) Tim Allen signature tools.

I just had a thought. Maybe it was discontinued because the magazine holds more then 10 rounds

So its an assault knife? I agree for everyones safety 10 is too many. Maybe voluntarily remove 3 of the blades we should all be a lot safer

Same here. The cartridges are loaded with standard blades, so you can refill them. Although built pretty well, its bulkiness is why I don't use it much.

I guess if you're in a business where you need to swap blades a lot, it could be nice (maybe a carpet installer?).

I had a Tim Allen Signature Tools hammer. I got it on clearance at Restoration Hardware maybe ten years ago give or take. It should have been nice but the face was slightly rounded and fully polished so when you tried to hit a nail it might deflect off into your work. I could have scoffed it up with some sandpaper, but I threw it in a corner somewhere and have forgotten where.

Maybe he's an avid collector of these? The thread is ancient, but I still keep the same utility utility knife in my kitchen drawer.

I know it's an old thread but I recently became aware of the now-discontinued Nack utility knife. I had acquired a lot of miscellaneous drafting items, and among them was a mysterious cartridge of odd-sized utility razor blades (see photo). After some research I learned it goes into a Nack handle. The problem is finding one. I just saw a new-old-stock Husky branded handle pop up on eBay for $198!! I'd like one, but not enough to pay that kind of money. I'm sure they went for maybe 1/8th of that originally.

The cartridge works like a rotary magazine with 30 new blade tips--stored inside the handle--changeable without having to touch the blades by hand. Clever concept.

I looked around and I have one in the garage that is my daily user for cutting up cardboard. I have knife with one cartridge in it and another cartridge in an opened package. Not sure of the condition of the blades but have heard that the blades can be changed out of the cartridges. The logo/stickers on each side are missing a small portion on their bottoms. This knife isn't a shelf queen by any means but has been used weekly for probably a decade but I'm willing to part with it. I can attach pictures later this week if anyone is interested.

So true story.... my uncle actually invented the nack knife , in hamilton ontario , he was a carpet Installer at vartanian rugs in stoney creek....he went to Las Vegas and sold it to Tim Allan tools after winning invention of the year. He sold it for 10 million dollars american , forget the year but back then was more then now....anyways he bought his daughter a Ferrari and put the rest of the money up his nose literally.... he's now almost 70 years old renting in burlington ontario and broke installing carpet again . Ted Fungar is his name....I'm doing flooring now too but no inventions yet lol
