Decided to post my blank slate...

Apologies to all, it's not too pretty at the moment. Pictures may be too graphic for some.

We moved in this last September and I've just now found a little bit of time to clean up, finish unpacking, and some lights installed. The previous owner was working out there with only two 4' fixture for the whole garage! Last week I built all of the shelving in "The Shop" so I could move some things off of the floor.

Now for some pics-
Aerial View of most of the place:

The house:

OK, enough w/ the boring stuff-
The garage:

The "1/2 bay":

The Workbench:

The Work Bay:

The Middle Bay:

"The Shop":

And Some Extras-
The Boat Port:

"Deer Camp":
(wife's family owns about 200 acres of woods behind us... about half a dozen of her cousins are out here every weekend in the spring and fall. The PO's left the trailer and they brought the camper... I have a real IDGAF attitude and the wife is just happy the garage blocks it all. :bounce:)

The only current plans I have for the shop (other than some ********* cleaning) is installing PERMANENT heat before next winter. If I find time/money I may attempt to build some cabinets, but I'm not holding my breath.

Eventually I hope to install a flush mounted scissor lift in the work bay and, if I get a lot of extra cash, turn "the shop" into a nice little woodworking place.

If anyone has any suggestions for layout or clever storage ideas, THIS IS WHY I MADE THE THREAD. If you want a shot of something specific, just LMK! Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the comments, everyone. I can't even begin to describe how much more I enjoy life being out of uppity suburban life.

how many acres?

I own a little over 10, pond is just under 6 acres.

I like the separation between the bays and he ability to open he sliders.

I'm still torn on whether or not I like them. It's just 2 more walls for me to throw junk next to at the moment. lol

Would be nice to close them when doing something tedious to keep the kids from scattering tools/parts or to keep saw dust from floating all over the garage. But Currently, I am absolutely terrible at building things w/ wood. I built a box to put a cat litter box in (to keep the kids from playing in it) a few years ago and I swear it looked like a 6-7 year old build it blind folded. :( But I've got more tools now and I've built a few out buildings since then. (The grey/white shed and the chicken coop (not pictured))

My sister sent me a text saying that her neighbor was tearing out their kitchen cabinets and put DIBS in for me. It wont be gladiator, but the price will be a lot better. Wouldn't feel bad sticking an arrow in used kitchen cabinets either. (we used the garage as our cold weather range last fall...) We had a few pass throughs.

Pond stocked with any tasty panfish?

I wouldn't call it a pond if it wasn't.

Crappie, blue gill, hybrid blue gill, hybrid bass... I need to get pictures from my preacher that is typically out on the water more than me, he's caught some very nice fish out of it.

They opened up an OLD pond into the new one when they built it... there are MONSTER snappers in it. They've taken out a few of my stringers. Heads bigger than my fist. lol

Seems about right.

Wow!!!! I don't know whether you're complaining, or just saying Neener, neener, neener!!!!! :lol_hitti

Great place for sure, and I love it. Looking forward to seeing some more pics when you start getting it straightened out the way you really want.

And don't be poking those Snappers with your toes :scared:

I'll be passing in the general region in a few weeks going to Greenwood.

With the sliders in each wall, you could take he wals down to open it up and have all the sliders together stacked one side or the other for when you needed separation.

lol, probably around the same time I'm heading to Florida.

I've thought about doing that, but to be honest, I'm not doing anything that requires the extra room. My orignal plan was to put a 2post lift in the middle bay, but after thinking about it, the extra 1/2 bay would be nice for rebuilding engines, seperating engines/trannies, and that kind of thing and not effecting parking. (that is IF I ever keep it where I can park more than 1 car in it for more than a day or two.

We can swap keys at a half way point.:bounce:
Do you have room for to extend the roof in front for parking?
I'm in the process of building an extension on my shop herein Fl just to get some covered work space, course I don't have to deal with the winters.

I have a 40' x 50' in. Central KY that I'll build a parking area in front to preserve inside room.

If you're close to Disney, I'll let you use the hot tub for free.

The wife and I are planning to build an attached carport for her crapp and for parking... So this garage will only be used for real work. But, that's probably 10 years down the road or so.

Wow ,pond, fish, turtles, how bout deer, looks like there could be a few lurking nearby.

OMG are there deer... If we could use rifles in Indiana I could deer hunt from my hot tub on the back deck.

I don't duck hunt, but we get quite a few of them too.

Nice space and property.

You should never hold a snapper that close to the head.

lol, I just grabbed the first impressive looking picture off of Google. I wouldn't even try to grab one that hadn't met my 12 gauge first, minimum. :rocketwho

Found one in a creek when I was little... never again.

*edit*
I was later told that they can "bite their tails"... not literally, but may as well be able to.

ProTip:
They are not the slow moving creatures that you see in cartoons.

A snapper that size, the safest place is right above the head on the shell. Off to the side is taking a chance for sure.

We have had some large snappers around here but nothing that size, and I wouldn't let young kids swim in the water with those large ones. A dangling toe or foot, that snapper would take it off.

I was driving down our road one afternoon and a car was stopped alongside the road. I slowed down to see if the people were having problems. The girl was out and trying to get a snapping turtle to move by taking her foot an touching it in front of it shell. She had sandals on. :scared: I told her that if he bites, he's not letting go. Just as she turned to move he snapped at her and just missed. She let out a scream like I never heard. She just thought it was a cute turtle and didn't know what a snapper was.

SO it doesn't look like much has happened in the garage... mainly because not much has.

Cleaned up a bit today, since it's been too wet to turkey hunt... Bummer for my oldest.

But we've got half of the bridge done (Mother's Day for the wife):

I only guessed about 1/2 of what we actually needed... But it does look good from the house.

and we started on the kids' tree house (no complete pictures on my phone... it's not much ATM anyway):

It was our "Men's Day"... pizza and root beer.

Followed by a long evening of four wheeling:

But I could park 2 cars in the garage, EASY!

And I still need some input on how to not kill off the last bay with the toys and mowers...

I bought a pole saw attachment for my weedeater... I'll be lucky to have any trees left by the end of the summer. The thing is AWESOME for cutting down briars and small trees.
