Good to see some pics of the woodshop in action. Your dust/chip pick-ups seem to work pretty well. I've been working for years without a dust collection system. Just purchased a clearvuecyclones.com system on Friday from their factory in Kent. Hope to have it all plumbed and running in the next couple of weeks. Don't work too hard, Ody.

Looked at the Clearview Dust Collector and it seems to be a great system. 5hp motor should be able to "****-start" a Harley! As I recall, you have most all of your runs to each work station installed. Should be a snap to get the DC up and going. Pretty sure too that you will really enjoy using the system.

Every time we do have to leave, we can't wait to get back. Anymore, we loath going to Seattle just because of all the traffic issues (I think Seattle is ranked as 4th from the top for traffic congestion) and would prefer to stick around to our local area. However, Seattle is a beautiful city with much to offer, so overall, it is not such a bad trip.

I have been to Alberta many times. Alberta was a part of my sales territory as was B.C. and the Yukon, back in the early 1980's. I could drive from the Seattle area to Calgary in just a little over 18 hours and many times, just kept going till I arrived so that I could start my sales calls the next day. Other times, I would go through Medicine Hat, then to Calgary, hit Red Deer on the way to Edmonton, and enjoy the country side and the great people.

After a promotion to management, had the opportunity to spend a week in Quebec, but only in Montreal during the early part of September in the later 1980's. There was a talented young girl working in the Mississauga office in telephone sales that I thought would be perfect to do direct sales work in Quebec and Ontario. She did a great job too. That week I spent traveling Montreal with her was a blast. I know too she probably could call me every name in the book while speaking French, and I would have just smiled and nodded my head.....Beautiful language and a beautiful area.

The "mower cubby" is pretty much finished up. Paint was completed last week and there has been some activity with the landscaping projects.

A few rocks have been placed and trees planted save for a Weeping Purple Beech.

To date, September and October, weather wise, have been fantastic, although, rain is forecast for Friday according to our (what I think is an over-paid) meteorologist.

The GT is a wonderful car with tons of torque, in fact, more torque than I'll be able to use, but man, what a ride! This car is model year, 2005 and is the 836th unit built in the production run of just over four thousand cars for '05 & '06. It is the 110th unit out of 237 FGT's painted in Mark II Black in 2005. Further, it has all 4 options: BBS Wheels, Painted Calipers, Stripes, and the McIntosh sound system of which I've yet to turn on... Who needs tunes when there is 550Hp DOHC engine and a supercharger within inches of my ears?

You have a very sound argument on buying a lift for your hobby and for entertaining. Any tool used to multitask is a good thing.

Vancouver Island is simply a beautiful area with such a rich cultural environment. Over the years, have spent a good deal of time on The Island and will be back many more times.

Looking forward to seeing more on your project(s).

Too true, December has given us some nice days. Looking forward to the days when it is cold (for us anyway) and it is sever clear out. Promised “Zengineer” that I would include a picture of what Victoria, B.C. looks like from our vantage point looking to the north at Vancouver Island. It is about 20 miles from shore to shore:

A couple of weeks ago attended a meeting where the Port Commissioner for the Port of Tacoma, was discussing the trends of container ships that off-load/load at the Tacoma docks. The issue is the container ships are getting larger and there is a push to up-date the port to accommodate these “Mega Container Ships.” Imagine a ship that is about 3x larger than the one pictured below…….. Think of the Empire State Building for length and as wide as an 8 lane highway and carrying 18,000 containers.

This last shot is of Mt. Rainier and was taken on New Year’s Eve at sunrise from my home south east of Tacoma. This picture does no justice to the scene:

Thanks for your visit to this thread, Eric. I've been keeping up to date on all your progress at your garage. Always good to see that you are keeping busy.

We have enjoyed the view of Mt. Rainier for over 30 years now from our home here and it is never the same view day to day. Of course, it is always majestic on the days when it is out of cloud cover, and believe it or not, these days are actually more frequent than most might think.

Over the past 30 years, we have completed most all of the landscaping on our own. When we first moved in, there were a few plants and just grass and much of the property was simply dirt. Hired a local company to come in a do some work for us. We were plenty disappointed with the work they completed and decided from that point forward, we would do the work and buy a little tractor. Just a few shots of what it looks like during the springtime of the back yard.

Now that January is behind us with current temperatures well above freezing, I can finally get my lazy **** off the rocker and get some work done around the house.

I have finally planted the last two of the "four man" rocks and found it easier to roll them into position with the loader:

Further, have made progress on setting some of the flagstone too:

On other fronts, have been working on the 356 as well. Parts organization, collecting more parts, cleaning, powder-coating, installing some of the sound insulation and the trans-axle/wheels, so that it could be transported to a trusted friend to complete the assembly to the point of a rolling chassis. Then off to the upholster for the interior and top. Once that is all finished, the engine will be installed and the start of working out the bugs.......

Thanks for your comments on our yard and has been a labor of love over these many years. If I can only get the yard on the Peninsula into the same shape as shown in the pictures above, that would be great. But, don't think there will be enough time for me to see all my efforts with newly planted varieties to reach maturity, however, will move forward to make the next yard caretaker to wonder what I was ever thinking with design and location...... Won't be my problem then!

PS: Was just in your area yesterday delivering the 356 to my trusted buddy's home. At least, there was no rain yesterday!

Spent the day installing, caulking and painting interior trim. The newly reorganized garage space made it less painful than in the past, but trim work is always a pain.

In regards to your paver work... years ago I had a Pennsylvania blue stone patio installed by a pro who used a 4" angle grinder to shape and fit all the pieces as needed. She had quite the eye, because it all looked natural when finished. Do you have plans to plant anything in between the stones? I wish that I had used a ground cover rather than just sweeping in crushed gravel.
