Thanks for that vid Stuey.
I literally cringed when he just dropped that handful of tools in the drawer and shut it (~8:09). Do people actually do that with their tools? I wonder if that isn't why the guy got up and left right after?

It wasn't how far he dropped them or that he hurt them. It was that there was he wasn't trying to keep any organization to them. A whole handful just thrown in there and then shut the drawer. It instantly made his whole presentation less credible to me. He's trying to sell me on a tool storage system so I can keep my tools neat and organized and then he goes and to drops a handful of 'heavy' tools willy nilly in a drawer and closes it all i can think is he'd be just as well off using 5gal buckets. He only dropped them a few inches. It isn't like he pulled a Letterman and dropped them off the top of a building.![]()

Like I wrote right above your post ...They’re tools, not watches or fine crystals... inanimate objects don’t have feelings.
They get dropped on concrete floors from fender height, or even ladder height. If they can’t be dropped into a drawer I have no use for them.

I have a couple drawers for more specialty wrenches and less used things. I have most combo and dbe in the super common sizes on hangers. My sockets are more by size than drive, I got a hole for 3/4, one for 5/8 one 1/2, one 10 mm, same for 13. I keepmost metrics at the hoist station but in pic 4 you may see an ice cube tray,,, all the metrics for this tool box.
This is really fast and easy. I don't mind sifting once in a while thru some for just the right wrench but like the common hung up for super speed grab and go. As long as I get it in a drawer I can come up with it next time I am fine with that. I don't need every wrench hyper organized and I rather have it all accessible by frequency. I have another tool chest for the stuff stripped out of sets I never or rarely use. I don't even make sure a lot of it gets back to its origen, on occasion the cupboard may be empty,, just means it was used elsewhere, if its not here its there and that doesn't add up a lot as we have focused on duplication.

You're welcome! It was actually Ben, taking it for ToolGuyd. (https://toolguyd.com/author/benjamen/)
Some people do treat their tools like that.
In that example, remember - he was presenting to an audience and on a time limit, and couldn't dilly dally.
Later in the day I was in an elevator saying that I needed more time for photos, video, interviews, and time with the tools.
A newish "influencer" said "nah, I got enough for like 3 vlogs." There was a very mixed audience in attendance there.
I didn't really find the tool handling inappropriate, and it's not like he jammed up the drawer.
Just noticed on Craftsmans website, their doing the exact same think Lowes did with Kobalt on toolboxes, they have a 1000 series, a 2000 series, and a 3000 series. Think that will replace Kobalts toolboxes.

I can't count how many times I finished a repair where I had a dozen or more tools laid out where I'm working. I just gather them up in a bucket and wipe them off and put them away later. Never damaged any yet...
