I just downloaded the app and will try it for a bit instead of Tapatalk for comparison's sake.

I did notice that I can uncheck the little box stating "sent from garagejournal app" to turn off the notifications in the bottom of each post.

Is there a way to permanently turn that off or do I have to uncheck the box each post? I looked in settings and couldn't see anything, maybe I missed it.

I noticed that as well. They used to fill the body of the message but now they are downsized and it happened all at once. I thought I was the only one that was happening to. I posted a thread on it about a week or so ago asking other forum members if they were experiencing anything similar but got no responses.

I too thought it was me and I messed up the settings somehow.

I quit the app - easier to view/comment/etc with regular Chrome browser on my 9+

I know Tapatalk has it share of haters but it works well for me on my iPad.

I wonder what percentage of users access this forum using it. If it is small enough I guess ditching it would not be a big deal.

However I don’t think I will be going the route of downloading a separate App for each forum I visit.

OMG how has this been live for over a week and I've not seen it!! Like you I ABSOLUTELY can not stand TT, it is the WORST and I can not wait to uninstall it.

Few comments:

- I love that the photos are hosted on GJ. The longevity of my photos is a concern of mine. So this helps.

- in Tapa they give you an option to resize photos. This app doesn't. It would help you save space. I usually load at 640x480.

- photo max is 7. Over that they revert to Tapa hosting.

- I don't know why this app and the web forum post photos twice (once in and again at the end) here is a demo. (you'll only see this if using the app)

- it would be nice if I could peramently delete the sig line. I thought I did but it keeps appearing.

- look into why the ads appear, particularly for paying members.


Thanks for putting in this work. I love the Tapa interface and if this handles my file hosting then giddy up.

I've noticed this too and I think I know why. If you choose a file size of 640x480 it doesn't appear to do this thumbnail thing. However if you pick a larger size, it creates a thumbnail. The GJ app doesn't allow selecting a file size so it does a thumbnail every time.

If you post more than 7 photos with the GJ app, it reverts to Tapa hosting on the 8th. If you set that 8th file to 640x480 it doesn't thumbnail it. So I think that is what is going on.

Like you all, I noticed funky things happening also and thought I was doing something wrong.

I downloaded the app right after it was announced on the site. I have used it multiple times and really like it. I liked it enough I also downloaded the H.A.M.B. app too!

Ryan, you should probably start accepting donations for this app (not sure if a premium version would be necessary); it can get better over time--especially after dealing with multiple developers. This is a great start though :beer:

A change on that front is coming though. Tapatalk sites are dropping by a rate of something like 7% a month. Given that, many of your favorite forums are gonna stop supporting it soon. It's just such a hard thing to support from a site owner's perspective.

All that being said, I have no plans to discontinue tapatalk support.

I'm with these guys. Whenever I try to browse with my phone, it just frustrates me. A big screen and real keyboard is so much better.

I'm not sure what you changed recently for the uploading of pictures Ryan, but I like it much better now. I like the pictures actually in the body of the message vs. add-ons and it doesn't seem to limit it to 7 pictures.

If the goal of spreading the GJ application is to get away from Tapatalk and make the administrators job easier, why does my default signature (see below) in the App reference Tapatalk.

So I guess my real question is will this application continue to work once you finally get away from Tapatalk?

I like the addition of related discussions. My only complaint is the app is not a continuous thread but section of pages. Hopefully I will actually get notification on the app unlike on tapa. Also would it be possible to add reporting capabilities to the app

Other than a oops by me - in tapatalk I had somehow saved 'subscriptions' for GJ - without being logged in (wasn't even a member yet) - once I created the account and logged in - **** - they were gone.

Otherwise - don't like the ads, but tapatalk is easier on my eyes. Navigation is fine. Also use it for another forum that doesn't have their own app.
