Thank you for contacting us. Regarding your question, testing has shown that the spring inside of micrometer click wrenches can effectively take a "set" over time if left in a position of tension. The calibration of the torque wrench is directly proportional to the steel spring inside of the handle which allows the proper tension on the internal parts.
As with any and all steel, it has an elastic load limit and because of this the spring (if set anything higher than bottom of scale) can take a "set"and cause calibration issues for future use. Hope this has been helpful, please contact me with any further questions.
