The rig is looking great man! That is one big snap ring. Good solution, probably easier than fighting with those the normal way even haha.

Lol....honestly, I could have just put the old clip(s) back in. These should be the last bearing I ever do on it. For $10, I’m just replacing them.

Are you pumping your inert gas into the tube? Looks good.

Pumping into the tube?? Lol....I’m lost there

It’s coming along. This wheel bearing noise/issue is the last of the drivability issues. Now it’s wheel it and make additional mods as they come to mind.

It looks like you have a regulator attached to the side of the tubing.

Lol, I just found what you were referring to....

That device is a mag switch ground. It’s actually the ground for my welder.

I looked at the pictures 10 times, couldn’t see the regulator [emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787]

Nice upgrade! Do the white and amber come on together, or can you control them independently? You'll need these soon when you have to tow me out of the ditch at night that I'll inevitably get stuck in

Lol....the Toyota’s will always be there to tow out the Jeep’s...[emoji1787]

Right now I have all 4 of them connected to the OEM fog light harness. I am eventually going to add a relay harness with the capability of running independently.

I said you were super fancy. :lol_hitti

Haha, super duper fancy man! [emoji1787][emoji1787]

Got started on my dual battery setup....custom battery tray, relocated the OEM fuse & relay box (1” closer to firewall), automatic battery isolator w/manual shunt.

I was able to fit a big ole 29DC in there next to the regular 24F.

Why? This isn't a diesel is it?

To power accessories without risking the start battery. Mobile fridge, inverter, exterior lighting for camping and whatnot. Also, I have a manual shunt that I can activate in the event the start battery dies, effectively jump starting with the house battery. Redundancies like this can be a life saver when you’re deep in the NMW (North Maine Woods), several hours away from ANYONE!

Looks slick! You have a mobile fridge? That's awesome.

What's the metal plate for over the master cylinder?

I didn't realize you had all those camping accessories. I did the same for a car I once had.

I have it all except for the fridge (planned for the near future).

I have the one I want picked out, haven’t pulled the trigger yet. Getting power supply and distribution worked out first.

That mounting plate is made by the same fabricator as the battery tray (specializes in Sequoia parts fab). That shelf is an accessory mounting surface. In my case I’m going to use it to mount my accessory fuse and relay panel.

Electrical accessories is a big part of the build. Getting power supply and distribution worked out, then I can move to getting the components wired up.

What I have now/ready to install/wire:

Ham radio
Inverter
Rear rack lighting

Really, it’ll never be “finished”.....I’ll always want to tweak something [emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787]

Dual battery setup done.

Relocated the factory fuse and relay panels, relocated the coolant overflow, got a 100Ah 29DC in there for a house battery, stock 24F for the start battery, automatic isolator with manual shunt.

Now onto distribution...a5b0f5009b4a2463b37b6cfe547447b4.jpg

Is the camping battery a deep cycle marine? When I ran the second battery in my Festiva, it was a deep cycle marine.

Got to a few projects around the house (good excuse to play on the tractor).

Cleared a 200’ section of my property line. It was all scrub/brush. Planted 17 Leyland Spruce, fabric the whole line around all trees, spread 6yds of mulch.

Cleared a 12’x12’ area for a raised bed, built said bed (my first one, go easy on me...lol).

It does clean up pretty well. I didn't realize how populated an area you are in. Are those apartments across the street? When's the first trail ride for the toy?

Yeah, the street has developed a lot since I moved here 21 years ago. That metal building you see in one shot is a commercial condo building. A photo printing company occupies most of those unit (5 units). Across the street there is a development of townhouses, big ones. I think they are 2600sqft each! 2 units per structure. ***** for me, every one of them is a MA transplant, and they seem hell bound to bring MA politics here (and they left MA because of what the politics did there?!?![emoji2957]).

Anyway, it has sort of closed in all around me. We plan on moving in the next 5 years or so (if the country hasn’t collapsed into a madmax movie....lol).

Thanks for the updates, the rig and the homestead are looking good!

I need to get my SYE and new driveshaft in on mine, chase down one last noise, and them I should be ready to link up for a shakedown run (y)

Nice!!

I went with the Hack-n-Tap on my XJ, very easy to do and is a fraction of the cost (and a fraction of the work) of a full-on SYE.

We should definitely meet up for a crawl sometime! At minimum you should hit one of the next “Cars and Coffee” in Amesbury MA. All cars welcome, nice low key event, and check out come cool cars/rigs.

I did the Advance Adapters full on SYE, and an Adam’s driveshaft. They’re sitting on my bench now. The hack n tap is a great option, but I *think* you need a min of 4.5” of lift to run one of those.

Well you definitely did it the right way!! When I got to the SYE I was already a few $k over budget, was looking for economic solutions where possible...lol. It did a great job though, not noise/vibration/issues!

Looking forward to your chronicle of doing the SYE!

Chronicle is a good choice of word, it’s certainly felt like one every step of the way!

Also, lol on your comment about the massholes invading. It’s even worse where I’m at. If it weren’t for work, I’d relocate further north in a heartbeat. I’m actually trying to get in at Sig in Exeter at the moment (without any luck) but that would be a step in the right direction at least.

Howdy folks, just checking in. Since GJ dropped Tapatalk I don't see the forum much anymore.

Anyway, been a busy few months, made more progress on the Sequoia.

Just about ready for its first big test up north in a few weeks.

I'll have it all painted up and done by the end of today...

Truck looks great! Curious to hear what battery cables and terminals you're using.

Thanks
Thanks! The cables are marine grade, varying gauges (2/0, 4, 6).

The only special terminals are the larger square ones, those are multi-tap terminals made for the custom audio folks. I bought them almost 10 years ago for another project that never came to be. I can get you a few detailed pictures if you’d like…

I forget, what are you using for paint?
I typically use Duplicolor bed liner (black) for projects like this. Super durable for all the bumps/scrapes it’ll get.
