Yeah, its a challenge trying to make a one car that can handle the cars, bikes, and any other project that gets thrown at it. Still have a few ideas in the works, but I have to be patient and wait for some equipment to turn up. Looking to add a drill press and tig welder, but I don't want junk and can't jut drop the coin for new. :sad:

Well arranged shop and tools. Looks real comfortable to work in. I see some ****** bars on the window. Those are a good idea, especially owing to the items you have in there.

Yeah, the house/garage got burglarized 2 years ago while I was remodeling before moving in. Happens a lot here with houses that just got sold but aren't occupied. They got a cheap tile saw, radio, my camera (hence no good before pics), streamlight, couple Makita LXT batteries, and a bunch of misc. construction tools. Interestingly enough they left the Stihl weed wacker and chainsaw, nor did they try to open the tool box. Either way it only took me one time to get paranoid. :mad:

I built the bench a few years ago, and didn't have the foresight to take construction pics. I removed the lids and hinges from the tops of the carts by drilling out the spot welds. They were then assembled with all of the center holes lined up and the bolts going through both of the carts to make them one unit. the casters were installed on the ends and one set in the center straddling the seem where the bases touched. I built some 2x4 frames on top of the appropriate thickness plywood to sit in the top storage space and be flush with the top lip of the carts. The outside edge of the carts was banded with 2x4's through bolted in the assembly holes on the carts.

Then i made the top, which is 1/4" hot rolled plate steel. After taking careful measurements i drilled holes where the drawer latches pop up in the back to allow them through the top and tapped the holes.

I then set the top in place and secured it with stainless wood screws in countersunk holes all around the edges. The tapped holes that the drawer latches protrude through allow the drawers to be secured shut by threading in a bolt, depressing the latch rod.

To keep the bench from moving i put eye bolts into the wall studs at both ends and attached turnbuckles to the bench, allowing it to be lashed to the wall.

This may be my favorite single cat garage. The work bench is just freaking cool as he!!.

Question, what's that red/black handle ratchet? With the square head?

Its one of the Taiwanese Blackhawk offerings. I used it in my road box for a while as a space saving tool. The core of the hand tools in my garage are Blackhawk and Proto. When i quit the automotive business to go back to school I sold my roll cab and Snappy stuff to the shop owner, kept all of this stuff out of my road box. Ive had really good luck with all of the Blackhawk and Proto tools. Now I've started expanding again and there are some newer Blackhawk items in there as well. My personal opinion is that for the price they cant be beat. The sockets and wrenches are USA, the newer ratchets and ratcheting wrenches are Taiwan, but the quality is the best I've seen from Asia.

So, here is a little build post on the latest equipment project I've put together. It is a 30gal. 4scfm air compressor, the result of piles of free and inherited pieces. It works well and I've only got about $40 total ******* in it.

The pump is from a DeWalt twin tank compressor. I found it on the side of the road a while back, pulled the pump and other salvageable bits. Here it is torn down for a rebuild.

Here it is mocked up on the 30gal tank. I was given the 30gal Husky oil free compressor by a friend after it broke a connecting rod for the third time.

Its hard to see but the original straight vane cooling impeller, which was broken in whatever incident landed the DeWalt on the side of the highway, has been replaced with an airfoil type fan blade salvaged from an industrial electronics rack cooling fan. The Furnas control valve was donated to me by a friend.

Here's some shots of it all put together, including my "custom fabricated" air filter assembly, and the crankcase venting system. Had to order an new fan shroud because there wasn't much left of the original, I thought about fabricating one, but ended up deciding against it.

Great work and use of space! The Harbor Freight service carts built into a bench is great too! Thinking outside the box!

A great garage compared to any size one on here. Just goes to show that a bit of careful thought and creativity is the key.
Love the plier rack. I'm pulling out an old wire dog crate that I had put out for recycling first thing in the morning, to try something similar! Sincerest form of flattery, etc! Thanks for the inspiration.

Thanks guys. The theme in this garage has been "the building is temporary." I've tried to keep everything modular and easily reconfigurable.

Looks to be a nice ride, love the old school drag cars. The trophies are circle track. The bike in my pics is a Gas Gas EC300, slang-"Gasser." Bought it from Eurosport in Arvada in a crate, aka "roller."
