I had NO idea that Snap On ever offered orange soft grip tools until I showed up to buy a bunch of tools this weekend. The screwdriver set I assumed was red in the pictures is actually orange. They look awesome but they don't match any of my other red or green Snap On stuff. I'm torn if I should keep them but I hate to hoard orange tools when others are trying to collect them. :bounce:

If there is anyone out there with an equivalent condition red or green set I'd gladly trade!

Got these recently. I just sort of ended up with orange. I was mostly after the older chromed set of four.

Some more orange hard handled stuff I've added over the last few months. 48dc57d690225ca1e2476ffd717263c9.jpg5c86832b1944db45b34faa691fa143fc.jpgdb78c72c487261aeb0a8a9db673f3651.jpg06c8cbcf2c7fe2963d30d994baa0e072.jpg

My orange handled ratchets & drive tools normally reside in my top drawer and the rest of my orange handled collection used to fit in the drawer to the right in this pic but now it's overflowed into several other drawers. I cleared out the left side drawer tonight to try and get all the orange handled tools in one pic.d08cf3af5f255b45b7a58d7adb154e44.jpg

WOW - Nice collection!

Can you post the PAK of the mini pick/screwdriver trays you have there?

I made a couple key rings from some extra 1/4" ratchet handles and some stainless eye bolts. I really like the 1/4" ratchet handle for these as it's not too bulky. The part # for the handles is THD72-12x (x=color). Lots of available colors to order. efa9652cbbd34640289a18793fa705e8.jpg

Looks like not a lot of Orange love lately. I’ve added a couple.

First one is a TMR4 1/4" ratcheting driver and the second is a TM4CSA 1/4" driver with the 1/4" internal female square drive in the head so you can use it as an extension.

Found this 6ASAA orange handled stubby awl on Ebay a couple days ago. I've been watching for one in nice condition and this one is virtually unused. I've now got 4 of the 5 pieces of the set.2d051e8e964857bf7db2aa7d59181cc5.jpg

I've completed the set!

I got the final missing piece today, a 4ASAA awl in pristine unused condition. Over the last couple years I've bought each of the five tools individually from different Ebay sellers. I had a saved search I checked often and passed on many opportunities if the price was high or condition wasn't top notch. In the end I paid an average of $23 each including shipping. f9e7ba1e29c9be3c92ca7500d21b15a1.jpge22ff7f3c88c49398b97ff39f0fec936.jpg

Does anyone know the story behind the super long ratcheting driver I have circled? Anyone have a part number or a part number for the shaft at least?

Must have!

SSDMR24. They are one of the only ratcheting screwdrivers that have been discontinued. I watch the bidding war go crazy every time I see one on Ebay. Here's a screenshot on recent sold items. Seems orange was the most common color but a member here who collects them has the 24" version in several colors. 4014491322b60996c8f2741c4ae5f675.jpg

Thanks, at least I have a number of the unicorn. Now to have a chat with the Snappy guy and ask if he can just get the shank.

That's good thinking! Will you report back here if you have any luck? I'd order one too if that could be done!

Most definitely will. I actually have the parts on order to build a permanent #2 Philips ratcheting driver.

what makes a better setup is to use the newer shanks from the soft grips. then you can change shanks and not have to have dedicated drivers... I did this years ago with the T handle using a long T27 shank for working on stihl chainsaws because the bit holder with a bit was too large OD to fit down into the cylinder holes. I've now switched all my hard handled ratchets to the quick change setups.

All you have to do is take the head apart and remove the retaining clip. if you had a way to install a spring ball on the factory shaft, you could use it. once you remove the clip there is nothing there to hold the shaft in unless you get the newer ball mounted shafts from the soft grip sets. I think they have since discontinued the separate sets ( torx, screw driver blade sets, allens, etc) but they can be bought individually and they have quite a few different bit holding and socket holding shafts

The thing is I am looking for dedicated drivers. They no longer sell the kits with all the different blades but they sell some individually. I am getting the #2 this Thursday along with a ratcheting driver to take apart. If it works I will make a dedicated #3 as well. Right now I have a regular bit driver, a 12" bit driver and a 1/4" driver in orange and we will see how this project goes.

One orange Snap-on tool I thought I might never justify the expense to own but thanks to GJ member truckdriver, here's my NOS SSDMR24 24" ratcheting screwdriver. ce52c360ffa8f772f1755fc32d658df1.jpg

I wrangled all my orange Snap-on stuff for a photo. The orange pliers look rather red compared to the ratchets, the pliers on the far left are red for comparison.
