I decided to start this thread, even though I'm relatively new here. A couple things...a) it's nearing Xmas time, so I'm feeling chipper, b) reading the thread about people getting rid of stuff and c) the stuff that I brought home that I am still sorting through. The idea is post up tools/garage stuff that you don't need/want that someone else would find useful.

I'm going to start out with something that I brought home from my find a couple weeks ago. Since I got such a good deal on the mill that I wanted and feel like I scored on so much stuff, I'm going to pay it forward I'm going to give away a vintage Craftsman drill press that I also toted home. I live in SoCal, so unfortunately, it would have to be someone relatively local that can come pick it up. It runs. Everything looks to be there. Would be great for a restoration. I cruise CL every day, so if I see it for sale, I'll be pissed and come find you :). This is only on GJ. Merry Xmas.

Come by, shoot the bs and then send me pics of it cleaned up and in your garage. The idea is that people here can pay it forward and enjoy the what goes around comes around karma. I didn't know where to put this, so I figured General garage, since it might not just be tools. The idea is this is useful stuff, just maybe not to the one posting.

Man, I'd love to have that vintage DP.

It even has the intermediate speed change option.

Too far to drive to get it though.

I hope one of our talented restorers gets his/her hands on it.

Happy holidays. xmas

I payed it forward, I had a 6hp 60 gal Puma air compressor, that was replaced with a 80 gal auction unit I won. I gave it to a young man who does great work, paint, repair-what ever. He had a small 20 gal unit. His compressor was given to his FIL, who earlier asked about the Puma to see if it was 110 volt. I said no it's not, anyway- short story long- the day it was delivered it was the young guy's birthday!! The FIL has his 20 gal unit. I'm happy!!

My dad found a wallet, he thought about dropping it off at the guys house too. He called his brother who is a sheriff, he said not to. He could be accused of stealing.

Its sad these are the times we are living in. :(

Brad came by with his dad and picked up the drill press yesterday. I hope he gives it some love and posts up on here. I definitely want to see it have a new life. After giving a good once over, it definitely needed some work, but looks like all the original stuff is there and should make a bitchin restoration.

My daughters friend had his shop broken into and they cleaned him and his partner out. Daughter called and ask if I had any tools to give him. I set him up with all kind of goodies so he would not have to buy anything right now. Gave the tools to my daughter for him. He sent me a thank you card that brought tears to my eyes. It was very rewarding and I would do it again.

Here's something I have that I know someone here can put to use...

This compressor is about 6 years old and has been my airbrush/paint gun workhorse since I bought it. It recently started putting out a max of about 25-30psi due to a worn piston/sleeve. The replacement parts to rebuild this are about $30, but I don't have the time or patience to rebuild it (and I just bought a 20-gal stand-up). For someone with the inclination, this would make a great, inexpensive small shop or garage air compressor. Includes quick-connect air fitting and pressure regulator installed.

Porter Cable 150psi Compressor
Model #CPFAC2600P-2
Serial #2361289124

FREE! Pick-up only
, please, in the Western suburbs of Chicago. PM here if you want to make this compressor yours for the holidays.

I know exactly what you are talking about on the accusations...

I was driving home and noticed a bunch of cards that looked like cradit cards and the like on the on ramp to the freeway. I didn't stop as I was already motoring, but the next day I pulled over and walked probably 200 ft or the on ramp/freeway side, and picked up what was literally a wallet's worth of DL and credit cards. I called one of the credit card numbers and told them I had found all this and was thinking someone had maybe left their wallet on top of their car and driven off and it "exploded" on contact. I didn't find the actual wallet though.

Turns out the guy had been robed out of his motel room, and the thieves had dumped all but the cash. A passenger probably just flipped them out of the window as they drove the ramp. The visit by the owner (at my home no less) was awkward to say the least. he brought a "friend" and were suspicious as hell of me. :wtf: Yeah, right, a thief is going to bend over backward to return your stolen ID :dunno:

He eventually thanked me, but Christ what a dumb *** :withstupi
