Flush handle for the toilet is a pretty good idea.

Even better would be if you fabbed up a toilet to look like a P51 and used that for the handle

That looks great TB66 Cool idea. And I bet you didn't even have to do your fancy inset red paint job on it (like on the saw parts) as I seem to recall those shifter handles coming with either red or black logos right out of the box

Thanks shopnut, I actually did do the fancy paint thing on it. It was black and pretty raggedy looking so I painted and polished it up.

I'll have to do some digging as I think I have a B&M one hiding somewhere too

I don't know which plane they came from. There was just a guy with a table in the pits with a bunch of parts for sale.

I like your idea! I have an autographed framed poster above my garage desk that would be a perfect place. It's a painting of P-51 Strega racing F8 Bearcat the Rare Bear. Got Lyle Shelton's (Rare Bear) autograph but couldn't get Tiger Destefani (Strega). Maybe I'll take it back if they still have air races in the future. I hope so.

I'm pretty sure your valve is a coat hook for your office. Put a slightly undersized hole in the wall at a decent angle, soap it up and push.

SMALL UPDATE:

I had a few boards left over so I got some insulation and finished the wall above my shop desk. All I had were 1x6's so I went ahead and used them instead of ripping them down. Doesn't match the adjacent ones but what the heck.

Yesteday I called on a CL ad and picked up about 100 more boards. Quite a bit unusable but enough to go another section of wall on the right in the pic above. Bonfire tomorrow. Pressure washing too. It's supposed to stop freakin' rainin' for a couple days.

I can't move fast enough to stay on topic so here are a couple pics of Delta bandsaw progress. I got all the parts painted with Hammerite light blue (has to match my table saw/jointer ensemble).

I haven't ordered bearings or tires yet. I can still put it partially together as soon as I string a new cord through the upper casting.

Paul the walls are looking great ( especially when you consider the only investment in them is some gas to pick them up and some elbow grease to make them presentable. ) Looks like the bandsaw is comming along nicely as well.

Looks like great place to build a few of those scale model kits and put your special touch on them. Are all those up on the shelf up there in the backlog to be built? I love building them but each one takes me about three years because they have to resemble my cars/bikes as closely as possible

I wouldn't have even noticed the board width difference on that wall if you wouldn't have mentioned it. (And I'm pretty picky ) But now I'll never let you forget it! HaHaHa HAHAHA (in a sinister Halloween laugh)

Thanks dave67fd. The old tool bug didn't get me until I got on this forum. Another disease. The board idea came from here too (gearbanger's thread). I was just gonna do a couple walls and now I can't stop. Price is right.

The serial # tag I "masked" with some grease and a small brush. Just wipe it off after painting. The Delta badge I removed. Reinstalled with ss pop rivets (not exactly correct but ok). I gotta get going on bearings for it and the table saw motor. I got new brushes for it. One of them was pretty chewed up. When I got it the end bells were loose, so someone was messin' around in there.

Yeah, eventually I'll get back to that hobby. Gonna need heat tho'. Most of those models have been canniblized for parts. It takes me about 10 models to build one model. I can't finish one in less than about a year because I like the little details.

Did some pressure washing yesterday. I picked up a little 3.5 HP Craftsman 1500 PSI machine on CL for $40 with a new wand and hose. It worked perfect for this operation.

Also, I picked up two more cabinets off of CL for $5. 36" wide. One has a full width drawer, the other is a sink base w/no drawer. One door is in need of repair. These will be put on the same wall as the existing bench. The drill press and bench grinder will be mounted on them. The drawer will be nice for drill and grinding accessories. O

My job for today and probably tomorrow too. It's gotta go in that woodshed back there. My house has those crappy elec. wall heaters that cost a fortune to run and don't heat worth beans so we mostly heat with wood. You'd think a sheet metal man would have a cool heating system hahaha.

I had a new furnace. A big hvac supplier out here is Gensco. I used to buy a lot of stuff from them and got to know all the counter guys. Got a "scratch and dent" 100K btu for $100. Alas, a down on his luck friend had his furnace go out so I gave it to him. There is no ductwork in this house. PITA. And so I procrastinate..................

It's not too bad. Once I cut the raggedy ends off all it takes is the washing (both sides so I have a choice). Now that winter is upon us I have to cycle them through the heated office to get them dry.

I check CL several times a day for cabs, boards etc. Get lucky once in a while.

It's a good thing I preview my posts. I can type faster than my brain works evidently.

I must be sick as I actually enjoy stacking it. Four cords in that pic plus a little left over from last year will get me through. Not quite as nippy as Wisconsin out here.

AHA now see the ductwork was what put me off on getting mine done . The furnace and such sat in the storage container for a year before I got around to ordering all the duct ( $2000.00 worth of the junk ) . Had I been a " Tinbender " I would have just picked up some metal and bent it up .

Movin' on down the long west wall. I'm liking this more all the time. I'll be out of boards shortly. I'm working right now on the east wall around the garage doors then the hunt for boards will continue. HD has R-19 15" in 49 sq. ft. rolls for $15.97. That's only around .33 per sq. ft. Not bad.

The woodstove is a 'Country'. It's old enough that it's not certified but it still works good.

Got a lot of the wall around the middle gd done yesterday. So much stuff in the way. Today I'll finish up the pole between the doors and start on the one on the right.

These poles have been in the ground for 7 or 8 years and I had forgotten all about the leaning one. The one on the right 'moved' when we poured the concrete. I didn't notice it until it was too late and there was no way to get it straight (I tried). It's about 1½" out of plumb. I built the wall plumb and made some wedge pieces to nail the siding to. Now, the only place it shows in on the inside. When I wrap around that pole I'll build off the wall framing and the mistake will be hidden.
