The "phantom" Rigid bench grinder.

Hey everyone. I'm wondering if anyone is familier or ever heard of or come across a Rigid bench grinder. I'm guessing 70's Era. My question is all I have for now but will provide pictures when I get back to my farm shop in a few days. I have looked high and low on The Google and have come up with zero answers. Till I get the pictures any input would be cool. Thanks.

I think Emerson Electric made some of the Ridgid bench grinders. Does it look like any of these pictures?

I'm 99% sure that grinder was made by Doerr Electric (later owned by Dayton).

You may be correct. It looks a lot like these Dayton grinders.

They do look similar. I don't recall either companies being associated with Emerson or Ridgid? If Dayton did make this grinder (because they do look similar). When and how long did the Rigid name appear on them?

That grinder was likely made before Ridgid was sourcing machines from Emerson, probably in the 70's. I have a 6-inch Doerr-made grinder and it is a very smooth running and well-made machine. I made a 1-inch belt sander (w/Scotchbrite wheel on other end) from it.

That is cool! This grinder is smooth as silk. I'm going to go out on a limb and say it is considered "Rare". I really appreciate the input. That leaves the trail alittle easier as to finding out exactly when and where or even why it was made.

That Ridgid looks like a smaller version of this 3/4 HP Milwaukee grinder made by Doerr. I have a 1/2 hp version of the Milwaukee grinder in my shop. I much prefer it to my 1/2 HP Cman block grinders; significantly more powerful, better wheel access, better and more rigid tool rests, heavier build, etc.
