Au contraire some of us "worked for the man" for 25-30 years and now have the financial security to do anything we want for the rest of our lives and it ain't "sitting on the front porch" looking back :)

You're a lucky man, for sure. All too many people "work for the man" for years and get screwed out of their financial security

BTW If you run out of "cool stuff" to do, drop me a PM. I promise you''ll work your a$$ off just keeping up this old retired geezer :)

Thanks, I appreciate the offer, but I'm too busy doing "cool stuff". I cant see "working my a$$ off" to gather or build stuff for others to fight over when I'm gone, so my time off is spent having fun.

FWIW most of my financial security is in the form of a self directed 401k, IRA, savings and investments. So I faced about the same risk of being "screwed out" of it as most self employed people.

I follow my own advice. My wife was/is self employed. So over the years we had the advantage of risk reduction via major medical insurance through my employers (plural) and risk taking through her business. In fact we sheltered nearly all of her earnings into retirement savings, etc. :)

I understand that some will find jobs that they like and enjoy they may even like their boss, the pay may even be great,They may even retire from it, i've seen it happen, and i could not be anymore happier for them.

But, for those who have not met up with these circumstances, will go out on their own. Now don't get me wrong, am i saying that the everyone needs to be their own boss? No, I need someone to take my order when i go to Applebees or Red lobster, i need someone to be there to show me wheres the entrance to the movie, I need someone to call when my computer is down or when i go to the bank,i need for a teller to be there. We all need these things, BUT FOR SOME
we need to be our own boss.

And only they'll know if they're that kind of person,no one can make them as such or should recommend them for such, they will know and they will go after it. Those are the ones that will be in business for themselves. To each his own.
