I took some measurements tonight, and spent a few mins on the computer drawing up a diagram of my garage.
The grid lines didn't survive the export, but the diagram is almost to scale. To make it easy I rounded all measurements to the next foot. The long edge is 37', the door edge (garage door is represented by the bolded line) is 20'.
The blue items are the Refrigerator, Work Bench (with 4'x8' pegboard above it), Water Heater, and Water Softener. They are items I cannot move. The arrows represent the outlets that are already installed, red arrows have a light fixture on the wall above them. There are no over head fixtures. The dotted lines are beams going across the ceiling. The ceiling height is 8' from the door to the first beam, and 9' the rest of the way.
I have two 2'x4'x6' Gorilla Rack-style Units, one 1.5'x3'x6' Gorilla Rack-style Units, an assortment of old kitchen cabinets (~4 total), and the fiancee has offered to buy me a new tool chest as an engagement gift.
Tentative plans are to install over head lights, surface mounted 110v outlets, grey/blue paint scheme, and epoxy floor.
I dont have many pictures just yet, We've been living here for almost 2 years now and the home is about 4 years old. Here's a quickie from the day we moved in, the garage is significantly messier now
I am an automotive enthusiast, so the space will need to be functional for many jobs. Also, I am a homebrewer so I will spend time out there making and enjoying my brews.
I plan to update this thread as I move forward.
