Footings poured. Pics were taken before the keyways were set.

Do they still call them keyways? I'm old school.

Nice to see some action down there.

I should have went 38' wide.

All backfilled and rough graded today.

I used a huge industrial grade tarp for a vapor barrier so there wouldn't be any seams to tape.

All graded and stone placed for the apron and pad off to the right for my trailer. I plan to build a lean-to off the building.

Floor should be poured next week.

Regards,

Ready for the floor pour next week.

Also will have a 10' x 22' pad on the left and a 12'x 24' pad on the right, w/ a 4' apron on the front.

Here is new shot from the upper garage - notice the new roof - (see post #1).

Regards,

Looks Great! You may have to settle on space for now, but if you're good with organizing, you can make that space really useful. Looks like you have plenty of land for another build in the future if the Mrs allows it! Keep it up!

We now have a floor and pads!

Main floor was poured yesterday, apron and pads today. Four concrete trucks for the floors.

I've watered and covered everything and will let it cure for a good month. My framer is backed up for at least that long.

Regards,

View attachment 258360Put a divert-er drain along the front and spread some T-base today.

Used the Dodge as a roller and packed it good in case we get some more storms like yesterday.

I've been watering the concrete twice a day for maximum hardness (that's what I was told to do).

Still waiting on the builder.

Regards,

Framing will start week after next.

Today marks three weeks after the floor and pads were poured. I took the plastic off the pads and utilized them for the first time. (Updated the pic in post #52) Still watering the floor twice a day except for when it rains.

Regards,

.

Day two. Sure was hot for the guys. We had some rain last night which helped cool things off a little, but it will still be a scorcher today.

Not much more can be done until Friday when the trusses arrive.

Thanks!

Looking forward to the truss delivery.

We hired a crane crew to set the trusses. I may take the day off from work to watch them be set.

A flat rate of $880. for four hours of crane service (This is MA), no charge for drive time. $100./ hour after the four.

No trusses today.

We had heavy rain this morning and TEC cannot deliver them in the rain. Something about losing their live load license.

Of course the weather is fine now............

So Monday is the plan for delivery, hopefully the crane on Tuesday.

The boys came and finished bracing and the plywood on the front.

I'll be glad when it is done, I'm tired of paying for the storage units. Between the upper attached and this new build, when all is said and done I'll have a total of almost 2000 sq ft of garage.

Til Monday...........

Regards,

The trusses arrived yesterday in some wild weather. A couple of microbursts and and small F1 tornado within 25 miles of the job site.

This morning the crane arrived at 7AM and we had all the trusses in placed by 10AM. Nice! Only had to pay for a half day of crane service.

The guys finished bracing later after these shots, and glued and screwed the t&g 3/4" Advantech floor.

Tomorrow the plywood roof will be installed.

Regards,

.

Check with Cleary Buildings out of Vinta, WI. They build for us with fantastic results on our barn build. Economical and talented builders.

?

It's a little late for that.

The guys did the gable end stud walls and plywood yesterday. It has been really hot here and I've been putting the hose out for them to cool off with.

I'm very happy with the work and quality.

Regards,

.

Upstairs, but no stairs yet. Once the roof shingles are on, the stairs will be built.

That my friend is for the white trailer seen in some of the photos. The long van will go on the pad on the left.

Eventually there will be a lean-to roof over both.

Regards,

.

I felt I got a great price on the fir plywood, and for $500 more than OSB I went that way by my choice.

The builder wanted to use the "zip board" system but when I priced it out it was $12 / sheet more than the fir. The price has since dropped. This stuff fluctuates worse than gas prices.

I'm buying all the materials and the builder is supplying the labor.

We did use 3/4" Advantech T&G OSB for the attic subfloor even though the "off brand" was $6. less / sheet.

I'm very pleased with the work the guys are doing.

The shingles look great and match the rest of the house.

Skylight holes are cut as well as the exhaust fan dome. The skylights add a great deal of light to the back wall and illuminate the inside naturally.

Regards,

Waiting on doors and windows now, siding to follow after. there will be a ledger board installed on both sides for a future lean-to for the pads.

I pulled the trailer and van inside, first time for the trailer. It will actually be parked on the pad on the right, the van on the pad to the left.

The stairs are done ( no pic yet) but w/o a hand rail as that is still yet to be determined.

Regards,

.
