I found this at a used tool store yesterday. The marking was illegible. In fact, I wasn't even sure it was marked. What caught my eye, and the only reason I even brough it home, was its thin (3/16") profile. See Pics 1 & 2.

I have several "double alligators" and a couple that also have die-cutters in the center, such as this one, including a Kilborn & Bishop "Saxon" and a Bonney "Vixen", and I have seen the Hawkeye version. They are all substantial gas and pipefitters' tools, much thicker, with reinforced jaws and reinforced central threader panel. See it with others in Pics 3, 4, & 5 for context.

I'm not sure what this is and I have been unable to find a good reference for the name, which seems like a brand, anywhere. "The S. & T. Wrench" (Screw and Tap?) is not the easiest search term, either.

I looked. I have nothing even close to that name. I'm more inclined to think it's "Sam and Tom" than "Screw and Tap", though. (just my two cents)
I do not recall having seen a stamped alligator like that with the rethreaders and the "shaping" of the head stamped on the unit, which is pretty distinctive. My first take on it, when you first posted it with all the rust, was that it might have been an old "Hawkeye", but looking it next to the others makes it that much more odd.

I found a Hawkeye "Eveready", which is close, until you look at little details like the font used on the fractional sizes for the rethreaders, and the positions the rethreader holes are in, and (of course) the "S and T" stuff. But for purposes of comparison, here you go.
I'm tempted to think it might have been a private-brand deal? But if that were the case, why re-arrange the rethreaders and switch to a completely different font? :dunno:
