Thanks, still a work in progress, it usually takes me a year or two to make a truck the way I want it, you really have to use it to figure out what works and doesn’t work. I have some ideas for tool and rigging storage, I need to install a larger fuel tank, larger hydraulic tank, hydraulic oil cooler, and places for outrigger pads. Those are the things that need to be done sooner rather than later.

Going to mess with the lights quickly, see if I can get things working with a relay swap, also need to figure out why the brake lights don’t work on the temporary lights, I had to turn the markers on when I was braking to create the illusion of working brake lights.

Not sure what it is with me and vehicle lights, just hasn’t been working for me lately. :(

Well, this is showing my stupidity, but as always, I don’t hide things from you guys, even the stuff I want to.

The tail lights on Perk can NEVER run the temporary lights properly (not without some additional wiring voodoo). The tractor trailer or semi truck wiring has a separate stop light signal, whereas a pickup truck generally has turn and brake all in one. They make a converter box for vehicles that are setup that way, some fords have this and I guess European vehicles are generally wired like this. So at least I have solved that issue, or the theory behind how it will work.

I used an extra set of temporary lights, wired one set for brakes and one set for blinkers and markers, now I have everything working so the ride to TH will be a bit safer.

If you mean the boat moving trailer, it is out back at the SG, going to try and sell or trade it, just need a few more weeks to get to it, too much mud right now.

I had a school bus a few years ago and when I went to put a trailer wiring plug on it threw me for a loop as it was not even remotely wired as I expected. It took me and a buddy a full day to get it figured out.

Just got to the shop today, nothing much going on, this past week has beaten me pretty good, unpacking some new arrivals and working on cleaning up the shop at TH, yesterday I was at the SG most of the morning, then went to one of the towers to get a progress update on the tree removal. I am pretty burned out and tonight will probably be a later night with Friday being an early morning with a busy day afterwards. I am looking forward to having the tools organized a bit and maybe even knowing where things are, right now it is just a free for all and it *****. :(

I have been studying tilt trailers, I think a bit of a redesign of the tail end is going to be my primary concern, then the locking mechanism and ram adjustments need a bit of work. Kind of thinking depending on how deep I have to get into suspension replacement, I may upgrade to air ride. Also figuring that the trailer might be better off as a powered tilting trailer, was planning on adding a hydraulic winch anyways, so it could all be part of the system, that is a bit down the road, suspension and structural is first, the tires look to be pretty decent, the ones I looked at have 2014 casings, so not too old.

The low angle of the ramp makes me think I can use it for forklifts if I get the correct tail design, that would be outstanding to be able to haul forklifts, they can be a pain and expensive to move.

They would be winched up, I do think any indoor forklifts like driving up inclines, they usually have really long ramps, even then they are usually semi pneumatic tire machines.

I’ve taken indoor electric forklifts, similar in rating to Strouty’s, up steeper and longer ramps, with heavy loads.
I don’t think it will be a problem as long as the ramp is dry.
Still, wincing is the better option.

I am thinking that if I do air suspension, dumping the bags will help the angle a lot, then I can make an extension ramp to make it even lower of an angle.

Going to the SG for a bit, need to get some info from another truck and also drop off a few things.

One thing about TH, I am pretty sure that a forklift is not worth having inside the shop, so the orange one may get used as parts, with all the oil leaks, I am not sure I want to do any repairs to it. The money would be better spent on an outside forklift or lull type machine to use up there. Right now it isn’t a huge deal, but I am sure not having a forklift will get worse the more I start moving things up there, so it is something I will have to address later this year.

Last night I started cleaning up the mess at TH, that damn dividing wall ***** ***, I am going to work on cleaning the entire shop up, I need to make room so I can put my tools and supplies away.

I feel that, this is more like a setting things up with cleaning tossed in just because there is **** in the way of the setup. ;)

Oh man, this is so true! I have to get started on mine again and I need to purge a lot of stuff to make room for the CNC mill and still clear space to park 3 motorcycles inside the garage.

Yes, labeling things is something I am not too good at keeping up with. I kind of want to start fresh, pretending that I don’t have another shop with three times the stuff in it, totally unorganized.

Sorry to hear that, but I get it.

Nothing wrong with taking a break, but please inform us prior to said break... at least 24 hours notice.

Thanks

All this banter reminds me that I need to work on brakes.

Looks like Wednesday before I will get back to Perk, too much going on and I need to remind myself where the money comes from.

Sorry, got the axles pulled out of Perk, going to pull pig tomorrow night. I spent a lot of money on a fancy tool and it worked very well and I am happy that it worked, money spent will be well worth it over the long run. Not too much other than that to report, need to do some more cleaning, will post some update pics sometime on Thursday and no not just after midnight. ;)

Trying to get prices now, supposed to rain tomorrow and my only spare truck is Perk, might have to put Bev back on the road, this is going to be an unexpectedly expensive week. I really need to concentrate on Perk, but the OGMC needs to be fixed and off the lift too, that truck is supposed to be my spare.
