If I had only been wearing my hat, the rim would have hit the steel first and I wouldn't have a goose egg on my forehead. As for the flaring tool, it is a hydraulic mastercool kit, really don't want to buy another one if I can avoid it. I have an old fashioned hand operated one if needed, but I really just want to know where the damn thing is now.

I am going to try and shuffle a few more trucks around the yard at the SG, I can clearly see that I am going to have to spend at least a day moving things here. It needs to be done, then I can start listing some things for sale, that definitely needs to be done. I also have to make a few choices on some projects, since I am still in limbo on moving to the Hill completely, it appears that I may have to change the game plan a bit.

I don't know if you are leading me, or I am leading you in the injury column, but yesterday my left knee gave outy on me and I crashed face fist into the asphalt driveway, Got a long abrasion on my forehead. The only good that happened is that my sight is better, o more squinting at distant objects. :dunno:

I don't want to lead anyone into an injury, hope all gets better soon.

I'll remain quiet on the injury comment for fear of irritating Murphy, but on the tool front, you'll have to use it before the old one will appear. Then no sooner than 1 hour later will the old one appear.

I refuse, I am going to find the one I am looking for. ;)

On a bad note, I neglected the 6x6 army truck long enough that it needs a jump start, unfortunately I don’t have any cables with me or my big booster pack. I really need to get my $hit together, I have been to the SG three times in the last week, yet I have been missing a tool or something else making the trip less than productive. I just hope the fan clutch solves the issues with the F550, then I can fix the brakes next week and maybe after that it will be a productive tool in the fight against procrastination and perfectionism.

My head hurts. :(

Came home to pick up my F550 parts and they weren’t here, had to deal with FedEx and go pick them up at the main distribution location, kind of screwed up my afternoon. I guess I will see what I can get done tomorrow.

Strouty I feel for you. Between banging your head and family, you have one effed up life. Me, I only have to worry about banging my head. I divorced myself from my fuknutty family over half a century ago. Best thing I ever did, even if I lost almost everything in the process.

yep the damn steel fittings rust enough on the inside that they will still twist off Nicu

Not good, I wonder if stainless fittings would react funny to the nicop line? I am definitely using never seize from now on.

Kay, I think it may come down to the same thing on my end, we will see how things go over the next year.

I had to cut one line back even further so I could get the flaring tool on (I did find mine!), got both sides flared, starting to put things back together now, then I have to drop Bev off at the SG, I need both Bev and Perk to shuffle trailers. The F550 hasn’t been touched yet, I suspect it will be tomorrow before I get to it, the shop is a mess and I would like it inside in case it rains before I finish things.

My head must be harder than I thought, pain is almost gone, hardly any swelling (insert ego jokes here). ;)

I have always tried to use cross drilled and slotted rotors, but next time I will replace the calipers at the same time. These are new to me, so I will see how they work, essentially they are the "best" that NAPA sells, not cheap either, but I figured why not test the ones that are usually locally available. I have things back together now, just did a gravity bleed, added some fluid, now I am going to pump the pedal a bit and see what it feels like. I have a little one way bleeder setup, so one person can bleed the brake easily. Fingers crossed this fixes the problem and I don't have to get into the rear brakes too.

Test drive went OK, front end is messed up, every ballpoint and tie rod end needs to be replaced, I greased things up, but grease either came out the rubber portion or the grease zerk itself. I think I actually made the steering worse, it kind of sticks to one side now depending on the shape of the road. I really have to decide what I want to do, I would prefer not to put another grand into this burb. I have another couple months before the inspection regulations will be back in effect.

Of course the Burb from down south is probably a non starter right now, the town was on the news the other night and there are lots of protests going on, I do not want to be involved inadvertently. If I keep going with the maroon burb, I need to fix the frame so I can install a plow, also need to do some body work on the rear, rust has taken over there as well. I think my decision on what happens going forward will ultimately be decided once I have either fixed the F550 or decided it needs more repairs at a later date (deeper engine issues).

What city was that?

Fredericksburg, Virginia.

On a funny note, I just found another rust free burn in Northern Maine, almost in Canada. It is not a diesel, but it is a 454. I would put a few thousand worth of work into a rust free burb, but not even sure if the thing needs anything. It has some heavy wear on the front seats and the dash is junk, but it came from Arizona and is beautiful underneath.

I had no idea anything was going on in Fredericksburg. I'm under 2 hours from there and haven't heard of anything going on.

I am not close enough to know, but my trip would push me way out and around to avoid hot spots and I was figuring no motel, so it was going to be an overnight thing. I don’t know if I want to find out the hard way.

The Virginia burb is a couple thousand more dollars and almost triple the travel time. I am still going to fix the F550 (or attempt to), then make my decision.

What year is it? When did they last put a big block in one?

The one in Maine is a 1999, last year of my body style, the one in Virginia is a 1996, same body, but a diesel with a little less miles on it. I am more concerned about rust than I am about miles.

Last thing I wanted to do to the F550 for tests was mess with the clutch fan electrical and see what was going on. Come to find out, the plug was disconnected, took it for a 45 minute test drive, no more overheating. Will be driving it for a bit more, probably take it on a road trip and see how things hold up, but I think it is good to go. :)

You didn't cross them hard enough X. First time I have driven the F550 hard, then parked on a solid surface. Came back and there was a puddle of coolant under it, running down the back right side of the engine. I just pressure washed it and drove it again to see if I can find where the leak is. There are a couple easier fixes, then there are the hard ones. So the battle isn't over yet.....

So now, it isn't leaking.......... I am not sure what is going on, may need to drive it more and see if it leaks again. I have seen a few instances where people had a similar leak, but only once the engine completely cooled down. I know it did not leave a puddle the other day when I changed the degas bottle, so maybe that is the leaking scenario, I thought I had it inside overnight, but honestly I can't remember.

You know what I am doing right now??

I am working on an addendum to a short term lease for one of the camps that the company owns, someone wants to bring an additional camper and dog in for ten days, except I was told about it yesterday at 5:30 PM and now the Tenant has told us they are bringing the camper and dog in tomorrow. On top of that, it appears they have essentially sublet the camp without written approval, except that is ok, because Dad verbally agreed to it. I am like WTF?, there is a lease for a reason, seems like a "hold my beer" moment. :(

Site went down for an hour or so. You seem to be missing at least a page of posts in this thread. The whole explanation of tower use and rental and MIL stuff.

I feel like the last few days hasn’t even happened. Maybe I am getting old and I just thought that I had posted?

Yep, looks like everything from middle of 6/26 on got cleared out. Database corruption or no backup or some such....

I hope no one asks me what I did over the last couple days, I usually look back through my thread to figure it out. ;)

So many promises, I don’t know how I am ever going to get all this stuff packed up and delivered. ;)

This afternoon, around 2 PM, Dad tells me he needs help on the island to move the float that has the compressor on it. High tide was at 8:40 PM, so we get out there about 7:15 and rearrange floats and boats, in theory, now things will be ready to drill at the end of next week.

Well that seems to be a step in the right direction, at least.. See what happens when you lose a few posts, **** starts to happen, in the right way...

now I believe I said I would come pick up my goodies, save you the hassle of packaging them all up for shipping.
