It was disappointing, but I will get over it, someday. ;)

The 550 should be done tomorrow, 3 of the 8 injectors were the wrong style, so only one side is done. Company was overnighting the correct ones for Saturday, fingers crossed, I would like to start actually using it.

Thanks X, it will be nice to have the truck back.

Talked to another one of my Cousins and I can borrow his truck, it will allow me to fill my dump trailer and dump it. Tomorrow I am going to try and get all the tires swapped so the dump trailer has good tread and safe tires. I also have to dig out the hy-ram and get it loaded into Buck so I can bring it over to the tower as well. Hopefully I can start busting up slabs and maybe the building too. ;)

Good to see your hand on the mend. Last time I saw a knuckle like that, things were broken.

I had figured it was broken at first, but now I think I just hit it really hard, swelling is almost gone, just a bit of discoloration from the bruise. At this point it feels pretty much normal as far as movement, there is definitely some soreness still and I would expect that, nothing like a broken bone would usually feel though.

Raining this morning, going to try and catch up on a few things inside before I get to the dump trailer and hy-ram. I also think I may be overreaching on my plans for the next couple days and may scale things back a bit, rein in reality?? I have a couple things that NEED to be done before Tuesday in case the tower removal goes forward (rain showers forecasted), we won't decide that until Monday. I have to get all the coax and the ground wires cut off at each flange that is getting unbolted, also need to put together all the tools for the flange bolts, I did gather some of them last week, but I know I need a few more to make things happen smoothly. I have help on Monday, so I need to get all the stupid stuff done before then, that way I am not wasting any time when I have two people.

I am learning.

Still raining, got a few things done at the house, now up at TH cleaning up the shop, it has been a mess for months and I keep saying I am going to do something about it. I guess that nothing, is something????

Yesterday my electrician dropped off a couple loaded Ford Super Duty doors, now I have to figure out what to do with those, I had mentioned to him that I was going to add power windows and locks to my 550 and he decided that the doors would be better at my shop than his. I would have done the same thing. ;)

I forgot how much I hate cleaning up, let me restate that, I hate cleaning up when I don't have a home for things. The Hill seems to be a crazy limbo where there is no specific place for anything. :(

I am slowly making progress, but motivation is dropping fast! I am probably going to run a couple errands and hit it again afterwards. I have gathered almost all the tools that are floating around, the good thing is that most of those do have a home, that should make things a bit better.

Pics for reference.

Glad to hear you hand is getting better, tbh I thought looking at your pictures you had broken it and that was the last thing you needed with everything planned.

Looking forward to some pictures (drone?) of the tower demolition.

Thanks for doing this thread, together with Uncle Willies the first one I check each day.

When I bashed it, I got that sick to my stomach feeling that usually comes with serious damage, today it is just tender if I push on that area, using my hand is absolutely normal. Very happy about that, a broken hand or knuckle would have really messed things up for certain.

Drone footage would be nice, but I still haven’t had a chance to even fly it yet. Today is way too windy, hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Jim, the trucks are always a slow ordeal, you have to live with things a bit before knowing what will work and what won’t. I am getting to the point that Perk is starting to take shape and make sense. The best part is that in reality, OMO is just a bigger Perk, so a lot of things will translate and I won’t have to reinvent the wheel.

Got the 550 back, runs much better, can’t wait until tomorrow morning to see how it starts. It definitely had more power when taking off, really hope that the mileage goes up a bit 12 MPG just seems wrong when that is about what Bev gets.

Tomorrow I will post some pictures, got some new tools, Tekton wrench sets and also a Milwaukee socket set that fits the pack out system, the sockets are square so they don’t roll around.

I know how you feel. After my dad passed, he had tools everywhere! As we slowly went through everything I moved one tool box to the house garage and left the other in the detached garage. I set each up just like my own at home. That way when I want to work on something, I know right where to go to get the tool i need. It drives me CRAZY looking for **** to work on ****. Or worse, moving **** to get to **** to work on it. It’s just a waste of time!

Strouty the 2002 Ford F550 I used to drive would only get about 13MPG [Imperial Gallons though, Imp. = 4.54609 litres U.S. = 3.785 liters so ~20% bigger] or about 11MPG U.S. that is a 7.3 Turbo 5 Speed auto and no Crane loaded about 50% about 60% of the time and I do have a heavy foot when on someone else's dime. Not much to compare to as many things are different, but a starting place. Harry

I know it has low gears too, but I was still figuring it would be closer to 15, at least on the highway. Rarely did Bev get any worse than 11 MPG and that engine is a bit bigger displacement (7.2) than the 6.0, very similar fuel delivery with the HEUI system. Bev is less aerodynamic and when loaded would be heavier.

Well, this morning went a much different way than I expected. Marketplace had a camper listed, technically a toy hauler, I figured the price was wrong, messaged the seller, he said he wanted it gone. I headed out to look at it, a little water damage and some roof repairs, but the slide out worked and the thing was very clean. Frame was in great shape for a 2001, interior was clean, no actual leaks, big enough to haul a couple ATVs or motorcycles, probably one side by side.

I paid his asking price of $1,000 ;)

He said he had 40 people that said they wanted it. I may end up just flipping it, not sure yet. Need to use Perk to pick it up later this week.

On top of that, there was no cell service there at all, but there was a really big hill, I asked how much land he had, 200 acres was the reply. I asked him if he was opposed to cell towers, he said he would love one. Might end up being a long term deal with a tower there. Glad I was the first to message him about the camper, could be a great future endeavor.

My air hose reels showed up as well, must have been delivered yesterday, these are for the Tru Hitch, I need to figure out tool boxes next. Going to be moving things around and adding a few amenities to the unit, should make it more user friendly. The hose reels will be great, just pull them out and hook them up to the truck being towed, no mess or tangled hoses to deal with. One is 3/8” and the other is 1/2”, both are 50’ long.

First impression of the Tekton wrenches is that they seem to be about the same quality as my older craftsman wrenches, except they have rounded edges and feel better in my hands. Chrome is decent looking, not perfect, but very respectable. They had a promo that made the wrenches under $200 for the set, SAE up to 1 1/4” (even 1 3/16”) and Metric up to 32MM no skips.

28619256904594a40e658a7049f1de30.jpg

The milwaukee pack out kit was a little pricey IMO, but I am well invested in the pack out system, so it is going to fit in very well. Ratchets seem decent, sockets have a square end to keep them from rolling and you can use a wrench on them if there is a clearance issue. The sockets have deeply stamped sizes on two sides of the socket (very nice) and the extensions have a not so knurled, knurled part (failed expectations on that). The case is the best part, then there are three individual trays you can remove to take them out and use them closer to the work. Overall, nice package, but $300 is borderline what a decent kit of Blue Point sockets cost. If you deduct out the case cost at $50, it makes things a bit better. Sizes go from 5/32” to 1” and 5 mm to 19 mm and they are a mix of 1/4” and 3/8” drive.

The picture is deceiving, they have a normal bend on the box end. I will have to take some side by side pictures. For the money, they are really nice, no anti slip open ends though, that can be handy when working on old junk like I do.

Nice score on the trailer. Now you can hide out in the woods in style.

Always great when opportunities find you when you aren't looking. Good luck on a tower deal.

I had originally figured it would be a POS and I could just guy it out and use it for storage, but after seeing it, I figure a couple weekends of fixing it and it should be a pretty nice camper. I could probably sell the thing for $3,500 as is, but my GF is kind of excited about seeing it, I will let her pass judgment on it first. I do wish it had a bigger rear compartment, kinda burb sized. ;)

I just messed with the drone, was easier than expected and worked very well, I will try and get a couple pics up once I get home. I brought Buck over to the tower site and thought I would try things out. One thing, there is no way you get 30 minutes of run time out of it, maybe if it stays stationary, but I had a full battery and it only seemed to last about 15 minutes. I was flying all around, kept it in beginner mode, but it seems straight forward, so maybe tomorrow I will take it out of that mode and go above the towers.

That makes the trip a business marketing expense. You can write it all off! Fun with taxes!

And it is not a "camper", it is a mobile field office and equipment hauler and staging location. Can a forklift fit in there?

You cannot be too careful during these covid-19 times. You need your own safe area to meet clients in. Besides, it's funner, warmer, drier than the back of a parking lot meeting.

While a forklift may physically fit in there, I am figuring it would fold the frame up like a tin can. And yes, you are correct on all the business expenses, even the drone is a write off. ;)

I love America! taxes are such a game.

Forklift sounds like a challenge. Strouty don't take no for an answer.

Remember, if you beef it up for a forklift, you might as well fit it for knuckle boom too. 'Cause, why not?

No crashes, at least not yet. Been messing with a firmware update, it is not going very well and I do not have a USB cable that has the proper ends to do it manually. A bit on the frustrating side for sure.

Got the firmware updated on both the controller and the drone, was a lot more involved than I would have liked, glad it is done and now I have a good idea of how to do it in the future.

Here are some more pics from the drone.
