This was some leftover from the last batch, it was outside on the trailer in the snow, I wanted to get it inside so I can make it into manageable pieces. I will probably take the time to actually process this stuff down to just copper. I really want to build a fancy wire stripper, but I will settle for motorizing my current one, using a drill to run it is a bit cumbersome.

This week is supposed to be much colder, perfect for inside things and I am pretty well setup for that. Today is definitely office stuff, I have to get some big annoying things done. Also need to get the new payroll service prepped and ready for the first of the year.

Just ordered some new studded snow tires for the maroon burb, figured the older ones can go on the plow truck.

Got things done in the office, but still need to do a ton more, every bit counts, I hope. ;)

Also got a notice that my last box of fittings arrived, be curious to see what it looks like.

This afternoon I had a call from my bank, they were from the risk department, apparently I am a risk. When I took out money to buy the Tru-Hitch, they flagged me, I remember them asking me what the money was for and I had to think of what to say, I told the teller it was for a trailer. That was a larger sum of money over $13k, but now they are questioning all my cash transactions for the last year. I am not too happy, I told them it was for my meth lab, but I am not sure they liked that answer. If they don't want to believe it was for a trailer, how in the heck do you get them to believe you? I like the bank, but don't like the fact that they are all over me about this, be interesting to see how this turns out. :(

It might have been better if you had them cut a cashier's check made out to you. You could then endorse it over to the seller.

I hate the bank sometimes. I had the bank questioning me too. Some rule about more than $10 in one week withdrawn.

I was paying for a new engine, getting a new apartment and paying guys I hired to help me pack and move.

WTF it's my money.

It has to do with the money laundering laws (drug dealers and Bernie Madoff). I could have written checks and they wouldn't have said a thing.

My sister holds the mortgage on my townhouse (I could afford the payments but not qualify for the loan). So her bank won't let me deposit cash into her account for the monthly payment, but they will take a check or let me transfer money from another account that is in their bank.

Meanwhile the rich get richer...

Funny, when i tried to get a few thousand in cash, they said they "may not have that much on hand". They had to order it. I made sure every other customers in line knew they said they didn't have money on hand. I also tried to get the manager to show me in writing the policy they have that says they will report me to the government. He never could produce it. He even took me to his office so he could close the door...

You should see the look on peoples faces when you say very loudly: "What do mean you have to report me to the Feds for withdrawing my own money?"

This was a few years ago.

Yup, they are questioning all my cash withdrawals. No one in their right mind should accept a cashiers check, let alone one signed over from someone else. The only way I would ever do that is if I was at their bank and it was being cashed right then. Unfortunately my bank has limited branches so out of state transactions are limited to cash for me, I can also do wire transfer, but not on a weekend. I have wired deposits several times, but one time it turned into a fiasco as the item was not even close to what was described, try getting a deposit back when that happens. If you want deals, cash is the only way you are going to get them. Most people think everything is a scam, so even when I have offered to wire deposits, a lot of times they decline.

I did speak with the VP of the business department (after hours I might add) she told me she would talk to them and get things ironed out. Hopefully it will be fine, I really like the bank and the people, but this is a bit unnerving.

questions on a withdrawal? odd all the reporting is on deposits over 10k I thought, not withdrawals.

That's deposits and withdrawals in currency only. The feds lose the ability to monitor transactions.

If I had a bank like Strouty's, I'd find another better one, open new accounts, and transfer all my assets over via wire transfers.

We will see how they handle it, I am hopeful, I have been with them for years and like I said, I love the bank and the people (minus the risk department).

If you have a Machias Savings near bytry them they have never done that. I’m pulling cash out and depositing all the time. I do it under my business name though not my personal accounts

This is all through a business account as well, from the few people I talked to, my bank happens to be a bit more conservative when it comes to risk management side, probably didn't help that I wasn't very cooperative when asked about taking the money out. My GF was flipping out about it, it was kind of funny, never seen her react like that, she is like "it's your money!" From a compliance standpoint I guess I can see it, hopefully it will be rectified soon. I mean I did pull a good $40k in cash out over a few months and that was not common for me. When they see weekly withdrawals of $5k or $6k, they look at it like I am taking smaller chunks to hid under the $10k Federal reporting rule. I just look at it like I am buying another trailer...............

It’s the feds anti-money laundering regulations not the bank folks. The bank to comply with the rules or get into trouble.

There is a significant amount of money laundering activity going on in the US, banks are required to stay on top of it.

It is sometimes a PITA to have to deal with the procedures. The best advice is to stay calm and collected.

This is what my approach is, I think once they understand the situation it will be fine. I am in no hurry to swap banks, now if I could swap Feds, that would be a horse of a different color.

Face it, they're on to you. They've found out about you smuggling illegal trailers and fork lifts across the border.

Smuggling burbs and forklifts across state lines in semi-operational trailers towed by trucks armed with knucklebooms. Obviously a nefarious operation.

I haven't finished Ozark yet but I don't recall him getting online and posting 30,000 times... I'm sure it's just routine and will be cleared up soon.

Short story....

On one of the towers, AT&T wanted to add a generator as a permanent thing, normally I can get more money out of them, but when you read through the lease and the eight amendments, I already did this to them and it was pretty obvious. Clearly they didn't know this, so I told them no go until they did a 1A survey, this locates the base of the tower as close as humanly possible on the face of the earth, this particular tower has never had one done, so I wanted one to update FAA and FCC info. They usually stick you with some underling that has no power, we went back and forth, finally I told them I am not signing the documents until a 1A is provided. That was the Friday before our big storm, I remember, because I was under a trailer putting blocking down for the landing gear. Well this morning, I get a nice email:

"AT&T has authorized us to seek a price and likely order and provide you a copy of a new 1-A letter on the referenced tower at their cost in consideration of the executed Consent Package. We have reached out to a Maine based AE firm for a price and schedule and will advise when we have a commitment to perform the service. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter and apologize for the time it took to process the request."

I thought it was sweet that they apologized for the time it took......

I can’t wait to move into the house on the Hill, it is like 25 degrees outside, the thermostat is set to 50 and the house is 60 degrees, south facing windows are pretty nice in the winter.

I cannot get the picture of Strouty "budgie smuggling" trailers out of my mind. You cannot un-see something like that.

South facing is great. Glad the house warms up well.

Make sure when you build the new house, that you get an architect/builder who understand passive solar.

I had a house here in colorado that had a huge number of windows and vaulted ceilings across the entire south side. The house stayed at 70deg during sunny winter days. You had to wear sunglasses in the living room it was so bright. It had a garden level basement (windows were above ground, but not a walk out. The low south sun was so bright down there you didn't need to turn on the lights during the day.

Now I have to go to a tower site that Dad is at, he is digging with the excavator and may have done damage to a propane line, I don’t know what his issue is, he just thinks he can do whatever with no consequences. He is pulling a culvert out because it is plugged up, except this culvert won’t be replaced, he is just going to make a moat. He is also using a massive bucket to try and make a “trench” for the water to drain, the bucket is probably 4’ wide. Hopefully we can fix the issue without much of a problem.

Not likely to ever happen, he will have to be completely disabled before he stops. Kind of like how a chicken can run around without its head.

My grandfather "retired" at age 82, but was running the backhoes and such until he physically couldn't. We had to stop him a couple times after he banged up the building walls a little (no serious damages). That was enough for us to make sure we were around while he was doing something. The difference between that and your father is the mental state I think. My grandfather would have tried to swap the bucket to the one he needed but it would take all day and someone would have to help.

I was reading another thread and someone brought up the picture in your avatar (and some album cover avatars) So my previous low level curiosity now came up a couple of levels. So I find out that is a reference to skateboard wheels. I am sorry I can't picture a 300# 6'4" skater boy. Colour me confused and for #$%^& sakes pull up those D#$% pants. LOL! Harry

Right now I am 320, never been 6’ 4” before though. I am about 6’. Back when I was really into skateboarding I was only about 180, but all the people that were really good were tiny things, I used to break boards in half way too easily. When my buddy was 120 pounds soaking wet, he would just bounce back from the same landing that would make my board into splinters. Also worked the same for falls, I seemed to always take falls worse than the lighter guys.
