Leaves and air. It was buried and I thought (well, assumed) that it went into the lake, nope. Just a dead end in the dirt. I still have a couple more tweaks to make before it is “done”, I am considering this more of a proof of concept for the next generation of pump houses. Next year I want to setup an outdoor shower.

Random pictures of the new reels, had a leaking sprayer, so I am getting a new one, might buy more than one just in case the next one leaks too. :(

Then there are the steps, these either need to be rebuilt or go away, they are a hazard for sure.

Lastly, we now officially have a down payment on a front end loader that I will pick up a week from Sunday, pushed snow all its life at a warehouse, then the injection pump went and who knows what else, at this point it may need an engine or it may not, we will find out.25C4C54D-4D2B-43DC-BDD9-3DBDD0D67421.jpeg58DECB87-3100-4806-B2FE-A0538578E97D.jpegD3E1B151-BEC0-4B1F-9AB6-2629CF8EF324.jpeg

It plowed a warehouse parking lot, probably minimal salt. It was really clean for sure. The other one is “sentimental”, his Grandfather bought it new, it is all worn out and beat up. The seller kept saying he should have sold the Allis Chalmers instead of the International, I am glad he sold the International. It should be a nice size for my purposes, it looks like it will pick about 10k pounds, assuming that includes the weight of the bucket or attachments.

The really weird part is that I spent about ten minutes pushing water through it and there was no wet spot at all. I had figured we would see where it was in the lake by either bubbles or a cloudy area. Apparently it just flowed into the dirt and filtered back into the lake.

I feel like I have been working forever, is it bad when your short day is still 12 hours? My hands hurt, I am tired, my knees hurt, but my back feels good and my neck is decent. I am going to bed early, hopefully the extra sleep will help a bit. One thing I am looking forward to is the Helper will be away most of next week, that will give me a mental breather that I really need. Of course next week is the GF’s vacation week, so who knows what will happen. ;)

The front end loader is cute. You know, in a manly heavy equipment way...

Is it camera lens angle or is the cab really that "thin"?

It is deceiving, there is plenty of room in there, even for me. I think it is just because the engine shrouding is gone, makes the cab look tall and skinny. The machine isn’t as small as it looks, still has about a two yard bucket.

Outdoor showers are the best. Would be nice to have one at my little suburban home.

For some reason they are not common in cabins out west, any time I have mentioned them in the past everyone looks at me like I'm crazy. Nothing like coming off the beach during a scorching hot day and rinsing off in the outdoor shower enjoying the fresh air.

And nice score on the loader.

We will see what happens with the loader, it could be a money put, but I feel that it is worth some effort, they are not usually as clean as this one is, at least not when they are from the 1980s.

Got the last portion of the water system up and running, no leaks! Then we loaded the newly refurbished dump trailer and took a trip to the dump. My Helper needed to be home, so I dropped him off as well, I am going to see if the GF wants go go back up with me to finish the inside stuff. Well, there is a bit of outside stuff too, but it is just blowing off the patio and porch, then hosing down the chairs out front.

The GF is onboard, going to head back up to the Camp and finish all the little things that need to be done. Maybe we can get an ice cream.

This morning as I am driving up the driveway to the Hill, there are two people walking with a dog, the dog is running all over the place so I have to stop while they try and control it, then it jumps up on the side of my door trying to get in the Burb. The dog is clearly friendly, but there are also plenty of private property signs. Then after I drive by, the dog chases me and starts to try and bite my front tire, so I stop again, this time it goes over to the passenger side and once again try’s to get in. I had to yell at it to get it away. So I get to the top of the Hill and sure enough, scratches all over my doors. :( Next time I see the people I am going to tell them they are not welcome unless the dog is on a lease and fully controlled. Way to start things off.

If there are private property signs, I would have told them to bug off after the first time. Sorry about the doors, that's not good.

The driver side was tougher to see because of the sun, but pretty much the same.

I am not a dog person, if I owned a dog and I was on clearly marked private property (or even public property) the dog would be under my control at all times with a leash. I feel everyone that owns a dog should assume that the dog will bite/attack/knock someone down and that all people hate dogs. Instead I find most people with dogs think that everyone loves dogs and that a dog will never bite/attack/knock someone down, but in reality it just makes you an *******. ;)

Dad came up to the Hill today, we had a good talk about things, he wants me to write up an agreement for the house, shops, and land. We also discussed me purchasing the track crane and the 5 ton army dump, he is onboard with that as well. Then we talked about the Camp, the Island/Dock, the Quonset hut, and various other things, all in all very good time. I think he is starting to see that things are happening and we are going to be able to keep things going without too many issues, he is meeting with his attorney soon so they can discuss how to get my Stepmother involved in the owning of assets, so that should be interesting, but in the end I think he will sell most everything anyways and I am essentially preparing for that as well.

Today is going to be a take it easy day, I am making some lists and cleaning up the shop. I may bring the track crane in and finish the fuel lines and button things up so it will be ready to go to the Salvage Garage. Over there it will shine, all flat open space!

It's all your fault. I had to go to Meijer to get a couple of things. And as I was leaving, your voice urged me down the ice cream isle. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Whenever we visited my brother-in-law in Somesville we stopped at the Blueberry Hill Dairy Bar on Route 3 just south of Ellsworth. Both coming and going and any time we left the house headed north.
Been there many times

I still didn't get ice cream.

I am not above controlling someone's animal that they will not control. Oddly enough, the animals never resent it.

Next time I saw them I would tell them they owe me for a paint repair.

I agree, impolite dogs and people ****.

Years ago, when I lived in a condo, I was getting my mail at the gang mail boxes. A dude had his huge dog on a thin, miles too long reel leash. His dog charged at me and was in mid air to jump on me. I back handed the rotten dog and sent it flying. The guy was pissed that I had "assaulted his dog". He was going to call the cops on me. That's when I pointed out how I had to defend myself from his dog attacking me and that I'm sure the police would love to hear all about it. I also pointed out that in our city/county, there is a three strike rule. If a dog "attacks" or bites three times, they will confiscate the dog and put it down. NO way to fight it in court, zero tolerance.

I know this as fact because my parents neighbors dog had bit another dog (while "playing"), Banged open the screen door, ran out and bowled over (knocked down) an elderly neighbor and was on county strike three warning. This dog was just a young, untrained, big happy golden retriever. BUT it had done those things, while playful, it still could have really hurt someone. Luckily, it grew out of that faze, settled down and was sent to professional dog training to learn how to behave politely.

I don't blame the dog either, but at the same time the dog has to learn. I have had customers whose dogs kept jumping on me to the point that I could not work, while the customer did nothing but talk to the dog. After finally kneeing them in the chest (the dog not the owner) hard enough to let them know to stop I have not had too many more problems. Then the clueless owners say they haven't been able to break them.

Well, we sprung a leak in the pillow cooler pad. I don’t know when it started, but the pillow is pretty wet. It is another seam that is leaking. It may have started this morning as I turned the heat up, but I suspect it was leaking longer than that. I guess I need to be more diligent about checking things out, I do have spares, but if they keep leaking after only weeks of use, that won’t be much fun.

So even worse, I do not have a replacement for the pillow pad, they never sent the ones I ordered, I had an email saying they would be delayed and I guess I forgot about it. They show them in stock on amazon, but mine never arrived, and of course they sent part of the order so it looks like the entire order was delivered. I also have found that almost all the negative reviews are about pads leaking after one or two months, sometimes less. I may have to try the other brand, except they don't offer anything for the pillow though. Or I may just have to deal with the leaks, If I had to spend a couple hundred a year on stupid pads, but I get to sleep well, it would be worth it, I am still going to try and find an alternative or a way to fix the leaks.
