Motivation has good times and bad. Spent some time learning roofing with my brother today, seems straight forward, but my hat goes off to the guys that do it on a regular basis. I am not afraid of heights, but since I lost the achilles reflex in my left leg, it is almost scary to be on a slant for me. I am currently playing with some Lista cabinet swapping drawers and stuff. I had been so busy this last week that I spaced it on the other auction, so I missed the chance to get rid of a few more things, no big deal, I am almost ready to call it quits on the outside cleanup anyways.

Don't know about any updates, but I can tell you it's getting freakin cold out this way.
Any mud left from the rain this week will be a solid hunk of ice by morning, and Strouty is about an hour north of me.

I am still alive, just been busy with some office work related to the tower project. I also started tearing into my running burb, it is no longer in any condition to drive, so I have to get that taken care of. I wanted to do a bunch of work to it this weekend, but I decided to keep working on the outside cleanup. I figure if I have the weather to work outside, I should take advantage of it. I think I will have all the outside cleanup/winter prep done tomorrow, really looking forward to that. The only thing that will be left is the suburban body that is getting trashed and the chassis from the truck. I hope to send the body to the scrap yard next week, but I have to get parts off it first.

Spent time this weekend getting the outside prepped for snow, thankfully still not in the forecast, but I am not interested in being caught off guard this year. Looks like I may have one more load of scrap to go away, just took me a while to realize it truly is scrap.

Thanks, been trying, but most days I have only had a couple hours of daylight to actually work. It is snowing lightly now, but no way it will accumulate.

It's accumulating up here.. unexpectedly I guess. I have been watching dot out the window frantically mounting Sanders and plows

Today has been sleeting rainy snowy ****, nothing is really sticking, but it makes me glad I am almost done. I should be able to get the last load to the scrap yard on Wednesday, then I need to make arrangements to get the suburban body out of here. I still need to pull off the doors and rob some parts from it, but overall it is close to ready. I need to wrap my head around tossing lots of extra parts, I am 100% sure that I will toss things that I will need, but storing them will be more of a pain than buying them again.

I just spent 15 minutes outside moving a few more things around back, may do a few more things before it gets dark, I just want to feel like I accomplished something, even some small stuff is better than nothing. I ordered a few things (milwaukee packout system) from Home Depot, some I can pick up tonight, some will be delivered in about a week. I want to try and replace some older containers and these seem like the strongest option, definitely not the cheapest, seems like a good option for me as I tend to grab various things and take them with me. I like the idea of being able to lock them together so they don't slide around in the back of the car or burb.

This week I need to get a few more of the battery disconnects installed in the last of the trucks, that should help the winter battery situation. I have also toyed with the idea of setting up at least one solar charger to keep batteries from getting low, not sure of that one yet, but I will be doing a bit of investigating. My parts for the burb project should all be here in the next day or so and that will allow me to start reassembling the truck. I have decided not to pull off the head and just go with the 5 glow plugs for now, I just don't want to lose momentum and motivation, I still have another entire truck to build.

If it gets much colder, tonight's commute could be messy. I am planning on staying late, Dancing With the Stars is on tonight and I don't want to watch it with the GF. :eyecrazy:

I am not even an NFL guy, I went to bed well before the game was over, the GF was up until it was done. I can waste enough time on GJ, I will say that last Friday night I binge watched all nine episodes of Stranger Things 2. It is really fun seeing the 1980s again, I was only 8 in 1984, but I remember a lot of the things.

Now the weather is saying 1" of snow in Portland, so I may have more at the shop. The temps are supposed to still be in the 40s the rest of the week, so I am not overly concerned about it.

It was sunny at the Jersey Shore today... had the doors open and was in shorts... long sleeve shirt tho... so there is that...

Nice Snowman dude... can you identify what your yellow balls are? NOT clear on my 7 inch tablet.

Edit: Maine... there is no "Snow Removal" there... it's called "Snow Storage"

Yellow things were ear plugs, nose/mouth was fusible link wire, hat was lug nut cap from burb, arms were glow plugs.

Thanks Whitey, will have some more tomorrow, I did not get any pictures before it got dark. The good part is even with this quick storm and the burb in the middle of the shop, I do not feel overwhelmed at all. That itself is a huge improvement! Tonight I came home and fixed the kitchen faucet, it has been leaking for three weeks or more and I have been hounded by the GF to fix it. Felt good to get that done too!

On another note, I picked up my Milwaukee packout rolling toll storage thingy and it is very impressive. I had no clue that it would be as sturdy as it is, rolling it out to the car, well it just felt good. I have had other units that were clumsy and loose feeling, this was solid and purposeful, if that makes sense. Will post some pictures of it tomorrow.

I really wasn't sure I wanted another one of the roll around things, but the price of the 3 piece unit was $199 and it seemed worth it to me. I ordered a couple more pieces, some of the smaller ones, may even get a tote or two. My main goal was to use it at the house, but it may be I find I can use it at work too. Regardless of where I use it, the thing seems rugged as can be.

Got some of the outside area cleaned up yesterday, took a load to the scrap yard, another 3000 pounds. This morning I took the doors off the suburban body and after losing one of the E-clips and having to go to NAPA to get more, I got the two front doors mounted. Still need to swap trim and mirrors, possibly passenger side window as it appears the tint was scratched. I am going to try and clean it first, fingers crossed. I have to put the fender back on, then start working on the headlights and grill. Also have plow wiring to finish up so I can use the V-Plow. Overall progress is progress, been stuck in the office a lot, but that is how I make the money to pay for things, so I guess it is ok.

Today was very productive outside, finishing up a few more things before darkness falls, but this is the first time I feel "ready" for the white stuff. My list has gone from pages to about five items, I hope to have most of those done tomorrow before getting more rain. Sunday I want to spend some time on the burb, also need to strip parts from the old doors, then they can go in the scrap body. Luckily the scrap body was much easier to move than I anticipated, it is around front and much easier to access now.

Well done! You've motivated me to clean up, sort, de-nail, and store the stacks of free rough hemlock I've collected for snowmobile trail bridgework this season today before the wet weather arrives. Thanks for the push forward!

but this is the first time I feel "ready" for the white stuff.

I need this feeling myself! I'm wrapping up a small addition on the house and have been neglecting my various & many outside chit piles that need to be organized, covered & winterized.
I know one day soon it will be too late.

Thanks guys, it still looks like there will be time to make improvements, they are calling for decent weather for a while. I figure I can pick at some of the less important things after I get through the next few days. I have a town meeting to attend, this one is to fight the application for a second tower 600' away from the one I just got approved. At least this time I have neighborhood involvement and they are bringing pitchforks.

I will post some more update shots today, my guess is after today I won't get much of anything done as the meeting is Tuesday night, but after that the only Thanks-I-will-be-giving is to my shop and the burb. I don't plan on attending anything this year, but I really need some me time.

I did get a few things done, but today was the fight with batteries day. Apparently I need to keep up with the vehicles more two were almost dead and needed a charge before starting. I also finally got fed up with the 5 Ton slow leaking front tire. I was so fed up, I changed it in the dark!

be20e0881857cf974957b64762fd82f8.jpg

I also figured out that I need a heavy duty jack stand, I don’t have anything that I would trust to support it other than wood blocks. I think I may try one of the mechanical screw jacks. I saw a 25 ton version for $130.

I also messed with the new jack for the office trailer, the front I-beams are twisted from someone jackknifing the truck and trailer. I really don’t care, but the top of one side is almost an inch closer than the bottom edge. I guess I may try and use the porta power to see if I can get it back to where it should be.
