Friday my Dad LIED to my Stepmother about something that involved me, I had to "correct" the issue, now Dad still thinks the "Lie" is the truth and he is harassing me about the same thing again. It is all over this stupid effing camp rental. It is 25% my fault, 25% Dad's fault, 25% my Stepmother's fault and 25% the two "potential" tenants fault. Except I get all the blame.
On top of that, Dad now has a kick to use his waste oil furnace and wants to get the oil out of the quonset hut, the oil that is buried off to the side, I am sure he will be down there rummaging through everything and will end up wanting to save everything he sees.
I usually don't hate Mondays, but this is one I absolutely hate.

It is really cold out today, I am some glad that I removed that pony motor setup yesterday. I was short a gas tank for the donor motor, then I remembered the other motor in the Quonset hut had a gas tank on top, so I grabbed the motor and will be seeing if it will run before I pull out the one from the pressure washer for no reason.

My wife owns a 1946 ('48?) Cletrac bulldozer. I'm putting a new clutch in it. Doesn't everyone's wife own heavy construction equipment? She also owns an '82 GMC c30 dumptruck, and a 24' gooseneck trailer. I'm hoping she'll wait on the excavator until we get a Kwhooper K100.
Ok, that last sentence is me pulling your chain. Though if we do end up getting a semi tractor, I will try to find a K100. That's what Gramps drove.

and how flexible and shape one is. I am 6'4 and used to drive a dodge omni when i was a teenager and a corrolla in college. Fiting into one now that i am 50 and have bad knees and my shape is round, no thanks. I have a 2021 Chev Trailblazer as a rental right now, i was actually excited thinking the body shop was giving me some POS 00's used rig but no instead i have a miniature SUV that with the wife and I in it we are rubbing shoulders
Today actually turned out better than it started, I got the meeting with the bank done, then my Cousin came up to the Hill and we moved a bunch of things around for the office project, then we pulled the other 16HP briggs off the blower unit in the quonset hut. After lunch I had my friend that deals with generators help me figure out the issue with one of our generators at one of our towers. Then I headed to the SG to grab the pony motor assembly and headed to my Buddy's shop. I got the motor working in about ten minutes, too a while to get the fuel shut off figured out, of course it is leaking a bit, but it hasn't run in 20 years or more. It ran well, even idled down without stumbling, I guess that shows the difference in the newer gas with all the ethanol in it. Now I am grabbing some food and headed back to my Buddy's shop to work on taking the fuel tank off the motor so I can replace the cracked rubber lines, also going to do a full tune up to it.

BP, she is pretty cool. She also has a PhD in genetics from MSU, and does home appliance repairs. Though HJ's wife Pat is pretty wicked too. And Uncle Willie's better half is pretty talented behind the wheel.

I got a letter today about the census survey for one of the Cascadia's with no engine or transmission. They say everything is confidential (but not anonymous), in order to sign into the survey you have to create an account and it asks for all my personal info. They want to know about how the truck was used and it even states that they sent this to me because my truck was "registered" in 2021, except it wasn't, it was titled, but never on the road. So I decided to call them, after I explained, I am not going to sign up for an account when the truck was never registered or even had an engine or transmission while I owned it, the operator said that they would "make a notation for refusal", can't wait to see what that leads to. I imagine the census police are getting ready to raid the Salvage Garage sometime next week.
The operator told me that it was picked based on VIN, I am still not filling it out, it is their fault they didn't look at registered vehicles. I figured it was going to be a simple matter of entering the authentication code the letter had, but nope, they want me to create an account with my personal info. They already have enough of my personal info.
I ordered all new Grade 100 chains for the new trailer, they may even show up for the forklift run, all my current chains don't have a stamped rating on the chain links, therefore the DOT would consider the capacity to be of fishing line instead of chain. The new stuff can be used for overhead lifting as well, also upgraded to a couple heavier duty binders to match the chain capacity, most will be fine with the 3/8", but I also got some 1/2" and that will need the bigger binders to match the chain rating. They still take the lowest rated thing and cut it in half unless you are running from one side to the other, then you get full rating, except they require you to have four corners tied down, so all those get cut in half. Grade 70 would be rated for 6600, so they allow 3300, that means with 4 chains, you are only good to hold 13,200 pounds of load. Adding a chain another chain, say over the blade on the excavator will allow 6600 more and that is still not enough for the excavator. Stepping up to grade 100 (rated at 8800) allows it to be closer, but still not enough, so that is why I am going to 1/2" chain and binders, that chain is rated at 15k, but the binders I chose are only rated at 12k, but that will give me 6k per binder and chain with a big safety factor, the excavator weighs about 24k, so with the additional chain over the blade, it puts me well above what I need. Did I mention that I hate all these rules, I understand why they are out there, but I still hate them.

Tonight we got things figured out on the pony motor hydraulic pump, need to see if I can source parts locally, if not, I have to overnight some stuff probably be an extra $100 to get it here. Basically the new motor has the same diameter shaft and same size keyway as the old one, but it is about 1/2” shorter, making the coupler no longer work, the pump adapter is a fixed length and there isn’t enough meat on it to mill it down. I can get a new adapter that is 3/8” shorter, but I will still need to mill down the end so to gain that extra 1/8”.
I am worried that trying to mess with things too much would end up with a messed up shaft, if I spend the money now it should work properly and then I don’t have to worry about it. The adapter also limits my space a bit, plus the hydraulic pump has a fixed key way that limits how much adjustment I have on that end. My Brother told me about a local place that stocks stuff like this, so I am going there in the morning.

I got pulled over for expired plates on my 19’ dmax fall of 21’, turns out we didn’t renew plates in 20’ as the truck sat in the garage most of the time ( I knew that). Total bill with Colorado property tax for 2 years would have been $2500+ so I wrote a check, paid it off and registered in a state that won’t be mentioned. Waiting to see how long it takes them To put 2 and 2 together with the toll road charges.
Your situation is as bad as late fees for registration after purchase date, if they follow through. I’ve noticed the state DMV’s I’ll deal with trying to use kbb market value on cars lately if you don’t have a bill of sale. It’s all Tax tax tax anymore.

I've had that happen before. I'd get a stellar deal on a used parts car or whatever, go to the DMV to register and they'd say take a look at the low price on the BOS and say, "oh we're not doing that, lets look at market value..."
I don't think there will be any financial repercussions, this is some Federal thing where they clearly didn't talk to the State. As for the truck, it will never be registered, not by me anyways.
In Maine, they will do that if you give them a bill of sale that is for $1 or some low number on some ridiculously new thing, but even then, if you explained to them why the price was low, they would take it and not worry about it. I generally deal with vehicles that are old enough they don't chase that type of stuff.
Last night we got about an inch and a half of snow, just enough to cause me a headache. Perk is at the top of the Hill and I will need it at the bottom of the Hill Friday morning. It is supposed to snow again on Thursday, so you think I should want to bring it to the bottom of the Hill ASAP, right? Well Friday morning is going to be pretty cold and I think I may need Perk plugged in, only problem, no power at the bottom of the Hill (need to do something about that), might need to use a generator.

got all my parts locally, guy looked at it once, said yup, went out back, handed me the parts with two options for length. I upgraded to a urethane center since we upgraded the HP of the pony motor.

Even with sales tax it was cheaper than overnighting the adapter piece that I also would have had to mill an 1/8" off of. Glad I found the place, they will be invaluable moving forward with all my weird projects.
I wish it wasn't so nice outside, I have tons of stuff to do and I don't want to put it off by swapping days, if it doesn't get done, I will be screwed this weekend (in a bad way).
