The wiring is safe, just not neat, best part is that it works. I will have to secure things and run a couple new wires to make it look nice, but I will settle for function over perfection right now. There is a fuse for the power input, then the relay has a fuse, all connections are water tight, not happy with the routing out of the fuse block, probably have to cut a little if the plastic housing away.



I am at one of the tower sites right now, have to install the last sign that I bought months ago, I was tripping over it and by installing it, I can send a bill out.

Much better, there were only two and they were really unbalanced, we had set it up to do three as soon as we saw two wasn’t going to cut it. There had been a road straight through there for a few years, so people were trained, at least we have given them plenty of warning!



Off to the Salvage Garage, hoping for a productive day.

If the fix works on the Blurb, that would be great!!! Once the hood is shut, you can't see it. Good enough in my book. Daily driver vehicle issues are a pain.... I'm getting ready to fix the ABS controller on the wife's Toyota Highlander. Technically it is not supposed to affect drivability or fail inspection (per the shop), but the sporadic alarm going off is super annoying and the brake pedal has a different feel. Part is ordered, install next week (hopefully).

It seems you are getting things done... especially on the work front. Need to protect the revenue stream.....

Things are going to have to ramp up a bit, I only have 10 days until things can be brought to the auction and I have about two weeks worth of work to do before that...

I ripped the nest down so I could spray inside, that made them really mad. There is a decent swarm around where it used to be, now if I can just finish them off I will feel more comfortable, I have stuff that needs to be moved that the nest was way too close to.

I would have rigged up 3 or 4 weed burners, on a gin pole, on a Lull sitting on the Muvall and asked someone else to drive!

It isn't super warm so they were a little slower than normal, but I still moved faster than I usually do. I am out of wasp spray, so I hope that was enough, going to check it out.

I had to add some hydraulic oil to the Muv-All, it has leaked quite a bit over the last couple years. All the rams need to be rebuilt, really should do it this winter, I will add it to the list. I keep thinking I don't need it, but then I do, it will be busy for the next month, then I think I can get it in line for repairs.

Holy ****, how did you get it down without getting stung? those things have radar.

I had an eight foot piece of wood and I lined it up, let err rip and ran the other way without looking back. I waited about an hour in between spraying, let them calm down a bit. I suspect there are going to be stragglers, but they aren't going to make it.

Eating lunch now, goal is to try and get everything I need to do with Clark done, then load and bring to the Hill. I really need Clark up there more than anything, but since it is already at the SG, I am going to do what I can. I can see one thing for sure, I am going to run out of space to shuffle things, kind of like being at the top row in Tetris.

Progress is less than slow, keep running into extra tasks that have to be done before getting the main one done. A little frustrating, but I am still moving forward.

Moved Clark 2 out of the way, now I have a few trailers that need to be moved, then some pallets that have to be relocated. I think things will start going faster once I get the trailers out of the way.

Trying to prioritize my moves, I keep wandering off into “winter prep mode” and I need to stay on get auction $hit together mode. I will have to move stuff a second time later in October for real winter prep, but right now I can’t spend the extra time on things. Get err done, right?

Clark is having one of the steering fits, I can barely get it to turn, then it will be fine, then back to a PITA. I really need to figure out what the trouble is and fix it. Definitely been doing it much more than it used to do it. I wish it was growling or something, but no funny noise, doesn’t seem low on fluid either. Always something.

It is a strange system, the pump for the steering is separate from the mast, but they use the same tank. So the fluid is common and I have no issues with the mast at all. It uses some crazy steering linkage hydraulic valve thingy that regulates where the fluid goes, I am thinking it may be something in that.

I thought I found some petcocks to bleed air, but they ended up being valves. The steering valve seems like it is nothing more than a single spool, but the steering linkage is the lever instead of a hand valve. I am just worried if I pull it apart and find that I can’t get it back together without special o-rings or something else. I will nurse it through the SG, then bring it to the Hill so I can use the shop to work on it.

Yes it was beat, in the end it was too much money for what I thought I was getting, but when something breaks, it will be worth having the parts machine. I just wish the steering was the same, could use some spare parts about now.

I moved a bunch of stuff around to be ready for tomorrow. I just hope the rain holds off, currently it looks like it is just going to be overcast, but, that is just a guess.

I wonder if part 23 and parts 21 have the ball and socket have too much wear causing to much slop for the feedback piston io nuetralize.

I was thinking something along those lines originally, but then it will come out of it and work fine. That is making me think crud in the valve.

This next nest is not as easy, the entrance is kind of hidden and turned to the side, I can’t spray it and get away as easy. I am going to have to turn the vent that they built the nest in. Even with it being 50 degrees they are out and about.

They are about dead, I ripped the nest apart and sprayed inside as well. They were all over one of the other bent pieces, so I sprayed it down too. I hope by noon they are all dead, then I can get going on my plans for yesterday.

I hope to have the back area more accessible and the front area opened up, probably still have the truck chassis and some things along the side area, as long as I have plenty of room for activities we should be good.

I am working in shifts, I forgot I don't have my cordless fan over at the SG, so the Hyster has to cool down without it. Definitely going to slow me down, probably get about 15 minutes an hour of usage out of it. Hopefully I can steer Clark, I already moved all the pallets that the Hyster could get to, so the rest of them out back are Clark only. I think there are maybe ten or fifteen things that I have to move with Clark, the rest can be done with the Hyster. Once those difficult items are moved, I can load Clark up. I need to move a couple vehicles with the ramp truck as well. Dad wants to sell the ramp truck at the auction, so I have limited time to use it. I also have to go and get a load of wood beams and a warehouse door, but that is on Tuesday.

If he saw me with it after the auction, he would just get mad. I am at the point where I don't really care, it may be a good thing as I won't have an easy way to scoop up a vehicle anymore.

Only real issue is that the ramp truck has my tires and rims on it, I had planned on swapping some junkers over to it, but not sure if I am going to have time. I may give it a shot next week. I do mean taking it somewhere, I don't like to deal with 19.5 or 17.5 tires, they are not for the faint of heart. The sidewalls are short and super stiff, probably wouldn't be too bad if you did tires all the time, but I am an amateur and only change them once in a while.

When you say “ steering is different “ do you mean some sort OEM change or something someone cobbled?

I can look under mine to see if I can get any hints or look though my manuals for any test procedures

I think my manuals have a procedure, but it isn’t for bleeding the system or troubleshooting, just setting the linkages to have the wheels centered. The one I bought is a “single ram” steering setup, Clark is a “two ram” system.

I underestimated the amount of stuff back there, ended up being 40 loads. I am done and Clark is loaded, now to get to the Hill and unload so I can move a few things inside just in case the weather guessers are wrong about the rain.

At the Hill, just got the new waste furnaces inside. Drop one of the forks backing out, it was lined up perfectly with the slot to remove it, always something, generally something heavy!

All the stuff from out back is now reachable with the Hyster forklift, there are a few I couldn’t get, the ground was slimy and I had essentially made a track, so trying to get out of it to pick up a few things that weren’t high on the priority list wasn’t worth the risk of getting stuck. Anyways, here is where I ended, tomorrow I will be working at the Hill.

This boat was perfectly fine on a mooring in the ocean all last year, but now it has to be in the Quonset hut, but only after he tells me to take all my stuff out. Seems a bit passive aggressive if you ask me.

Back at the Salvage Garage now, got a ride over to get the Blurb, going to eat some dinner, then head home. Been one of those days.
