It wasn’t too bad to semi put together, would have been easier with two people and all the proper hardware, ready to have all the trinkets assembled now.

Basically I dedicated some time to it, with a little more work he can bring it to his shop, I will put it outside if I need to, but it is easy to move now and shouldn’t be an issue for a couple days.

My wider fork extensions showed up, for the money they are excellent, no way could I build them for what I paid delivered. I do think they will get cut down a bit and I will add some sort of safety to hold them down a bit better. You are supposed to use them with 4’ forks and mine are only 3’, already breaking the rules. If you aren’t a *******, they would be fine as is, except sometimes I can be a *******.

I got things unloaded, gathered up some trash, now headed back to the Hill (one stop), then unloading, probably take an early night tonight. I am just not motivated to start another project. This is my haul from this morning, two of the reels are heavy duty versions and brand new in the box. The other two are light duty and probably can go in the shop, or better yet, sell them quick and not even worry about them. ;)

Ah, you don't need all of those... i'll be over to pick one up in the morning... mkay?

I haven't played with the "plastic" air reels yet, but they seem built well enough. Cox Reels lists them as light duty, the other two are "heavy duty" and were what I was after, I wanted one for the working military forklift and the other for Perk, 50' of 1/2" air line is going to be handy for lots of things. Those were brand new in sealed boxes, just the two of those were worth the $500, they sell on Zoro for $369, even with a coupon, they would still cost me $315 each after tax. I will try and sell the new bottles of coolant, the hydraulic oil is definitely going to get used, it sells for $17.98 a jug at Home Depot and there were 15 of those.

Ended up with 13 new bottles of hydraulic oil and 17 full bottles of coolant, there were two gallons of hydraulic oil that were partially used, I got almost a full bottle out of those. I took the worst looking coolant bottle and filled all the partials to the top, worked out well, had almost no waste. The coolant appears to be really human friendly, it doesn't smell bad cold, not sure what it will smell like hot, but I am sure I can use some of it in the Matsuura. Info from the website:

"The Kool Mist unique formula of coolant is safe for people, working materials and the tools used to shape them. The cost to use Kool Mist is about $.03 per operating hour. Because Kool Mist comes in concentrated form, it may be diluted with water in solutions up to 32:1. One gallon therefore makes 33 gallons of mix, or enough for 33 eight hour shifts at typical usage.

Both Kool Mist coolant formulas are biodegradable, greatly reducing storage and disposal concerns. Spent coolant requires no special treatment and will have no adverse environmental effect."

"The improved Formula "77" is highly recommended for mistcooling any metal or alloy where tougher machining condtions require greater lubricity. It is particularly useful where tool pressure is exceptionally great or where the material is very abrasive. Formula "77" provides the extra lubrication needed to protect the cutting edge of the tool. Formula "77" has been reformulated to provide the same safety for use as Formula "78" where incorporating additional lubricity ingredients for more demanding machining applications. In addition, Formula "77" provides excellent service in most general purpose flood cooling applications. One coolant-Formula "77" - will fill most of your general mist and flood coolant needs. Formula "77" eliminates double coolant inventory, cuts storage space requirements and reduces your costs."

So this stuff is all the 77 or the "tougher service" coolant.

Now I am trying to figure out how the rest of the weekend is going to play out. I think I am just going to concentrate on the shop at the Hill and get things organized and cleaned up so I can do all the repairs to my new pickup. Then next week I can work at the Salvage Garage and try to cleanup the outdoor mess. At night I can work on the inside mess or do some work inside at the Hill.

On Wednesday, I have to pickup all the lights that I ordered, they called me at 6:30 tonight to say they were in, but that they were closing in 20 minutes and wouldn’t be open until Wednesday, if they had called a little earlier, I could have actually picked them up tonight. :(

Going to spend the morning inside while it warms up, I have to make smoothies for Chuck anyways. I might organize a bit in the house at the Hill, would be nice to not trip over everything all the time.

Part of me says that I should go to the Salvage Garage after that, I think it makes sense to do some outside stuff there, the Hill is almost totally ready for snow, but the SG is far from it. Tomorrow I can work at the Hill, we have plans for the evening anyways. Then I am most likely going to do some things at my house on Christmas, need to wire up a light and change out a shower rod. Been neglecting my duties and I figure it would be a good time to do it.

One thing I need to say, I do not recommend the new Kroil 360 spray tech cans, unless you are trying to get it everywhere, it is like a pressure washer nozzle. I got it all over me, the floor, and hardly any where I actually wanted it. I thought it was the initial trigger push since it was the first time using it, but I tried it on the forklift and it was just as bad. Glad I only bought one can.

I think this “new” can has much more propellant in it, they tout that you will be able to use all the kroil. I poke a hole in the cans that have oil leftover, once the propellant is gone, it isn’t tough to capture that oil.

I like Kroil, but it's too rich for me. I've gone back to Liquid Wrench for small stuff, and 50:50 acetone:ATF for dousing stuff. I did upgrade to generic synthetic ATF though!

Kroil has its place, I only use maybe two cans a year, sometimes only one. ATF and acetone works well, I forget that it separates, so the first squirts are not as expected.

Chuck woke up from all the smoothie making, he ended up having just one, then wanted to take a nap in my lap. I don’t get to see him that much, so I humor him more this time of year.

The BFF needs work ASAP, I can use it, but not really, you try and keep the tilt cylinder (the one that works) up and it will stall out the engine at idle. I moved the 16k pounds of electric forklift without any real troubles, but I stalled it several times. At this point, the charging system isn’t functioning, the radiator has a small leak, both tilt cylinders need to be rebuilt, the main lift cylinder needs to be rebuilt and the engine needs to be adjusted, idle is way too low. I need to get the batteries charged up and figure out how much fuel it has in the tank. I want to move the electric forklift out back, but I can see I will have to chain the mast so it can’t tilt all the way forward to do it. The previous owner said he had done this with “heavy” loads, but the empty forks will tilt forward without any additional weight. I knew all this going in, so I am not too concerned, just wish I had been able to pull the rams a month ago, they might have been done already. I will say it is going to make my life so much easier when it is running, being able to pick almost 30k pounds and move it with ease, well that is just awesome. It did start right up, but the batteries were low enough that I had to jump it. I am going to put the charger on it now so the batteries will be up when I get back to needing it. I put oil in them, but I haven't used them yet. They are on the slow path for now, funny part was I bought another set and a transfer case not long after you brought those down, so now I have three trucks to build...
