She initially looked at the Crosstrek, she didn't mind it, but there were limited options and of those options it was only the upper models that she was finding.

As for the one armed stuff, the biggest hurdle I have is the fact that it is still there and functional, my brain keeps using it and I never let it rest. Maybe I should just duct tape the thing to my chest? I know how resilient some of you guys are, wish I could figure things out instead of wallowing in my self created mess.....

Re: self-created mess: Been there, wallowed in it. I made a To Do List. I use a table format. At one time I used columns in a word processed document. I shifted it over to Google Docs, and moved back to a document several times over the years. Oddly, reformatting just helped me be familiar. At one point the list was 7 pages long. Down to 1 page / 4 columns / 3 rows. (Dreaded Desk Work, Shop, Yard, House, Vehicles, etc.) It was a way to see progress when progress was not obvious, and a way to shift plans. YMMV.

Re: Mitsubishi is making some nice stuff at reasonable prices. Again, YMMV.

What kind of Mazda is your girlfriend looking at? We bought a CX-5 8.5 years ago and still love it. Only has around 60k miles on it but I don't think we've done anything besides brakes/tires/oil changes. Still fun to drive compared to other SUVs. Will probably end up replacing it with the new CX-90 plug in hybrid.

As for the arm, put it in a sling or stick an ace bandage around it. Not to help it heal but more to remind you not to use it. If I don't do something similar when I'm injured I always forget and make it worse.

Subaru for the winter driving win. Although, agreed, its a bad time to buy an expensive car.

Trying to get my daughter to buy a Subie for her next car once her Mazda gets too crappy. For some reason she bought a 2wd Mazda and the things ***** in the snow out here in WA State (otherwise its a pretty sweet little rig). Lately she's been getting into snow boarding so her and her friends are borrowing my 4wd pickup to go (no bueno).

You one armed get 'er done types. Wow. Good job.

Hope your elbow starts feeling better Strouty. And I hope you can get on top of your projects, if that's what you really want to do. And I know you know it, but if you want to get on top of it, I recommend no new projects for a while, consider getting rid of some of your current projects. Also consider buying new, or things that don't need work, buy things you can put to work right away to make your life easier, better yet, make you money (without having to be fixed and money put into them).

I know you know all this, so forgive me, but you did bring it up recently and I just can't resist, Lol. But really, do what makes ya happy!

And lastly, holy cow, you are one hard working, productive dude, even if you don't always see it yourself.

My arm repair was such that it was critical that I didn't use it at all. I did wear the sling to remind me. I had torn the lower biceps tendon completely. The repair is to sew thru the bottom of the tendon, drill a hole thru the bone, feed the "thread" thru the hole, then sew a button on the backside of the bone to anchor it in place while the tendon heals. It was literally holding on by a thread, & if I did anything with it I'd have to start all over.

Eventually it healed, & I went thru physical therapy where they built up my strength in it. That arm is normal now, but other medical issues are currently fouling up my project plans. So I'm working vicariously by watching Strouty do stuff. 💪😁

Looks like any real progress will actually just be prepping for more snow. Guess they are saying about a foot by Friday morning. I have to replace the carb on the snowblower and hook the plow up, then move a few things at the SG so I will at least be ready for it. Not a huge deal, but definitely not what I wanted to do, I am going to try and fit in a few other things so that I feel like there was actually forward progress rather than a stalemate. :(

Trying, things keep tripping me up, didn't have enough reach with my mag drill to get all the way through what I was doing, didn't have a hole saw the right size to finish, didn't have the proper length bolts. I did get the plow mounted back on the F-350 and the carb swapped on the snow blower (it even works). Now over at the SG welding up some pieces to put under the rotobins, this way they can be moved with the pallet jack after they are full, otherwise I would have to unload them to move them, no bueno.

The only reason things are getting done is because I have help, I wouldn't be able to deal with things by myself. I hope to have the two rotobin bases welded up before too much longer. If I can get those done, then I can head back to the Hill and try to finish the trailer tongue. I need to fuel up the plow tonight as well as drop off the snowblower, it needs to go to the house. I think I may have mentioned this before, I hate snow.

How "stout" are the uprights and bases for the rotobins?

I could imagine me trying to move that pallet mounted rotobin around and a jerky motion with the forklift causing the rotobin to go "timber" and spill the contents across the floor. Bad language would ensue . . .

Rotobin makes a base for a forklift, I needed it to be for a pallet jack, so mine has a larger opening. They are very stable and very rugged, just very hard to move. I suppose if you were really top heavy, it could be an issue, but I think it will be fine.

Trying to get things moved around, have to shuffle several things to just do the couple things that I would like to do. A bit frustrating, but I would like to be prepared for the snow as best I can be, while making some space to let me get the shop cleaned up in my “spare” time.

Strouty, we got a grand total of 2 inches of snow up here, hopefully thats all you got also. No doubt the coldest stretch of the winter though.

Good thing it wasn't frozen hitting that rock. I'm sure the plow jumped pretty high just the same. My driveway isn't frozen either. Probably will be by the time Tuesday hits with another storm?

The main issue was a combination of the ground not being frozen and the plow chain being adjusted so that it would be even on both sides. Doing that allowed for the blade to drop lower than it had before, so it dug in a lot more in places that it wouldn't have before the adjustment. I always used to hit these rocks, but the blade wasn't low enough to actually dig them up, this time it was and yes it was a pretty rough ride. I wasn't going fast, but I had downhill momentum. The truck went up, then over to the side a bit, at least it didn't do any serious damage. I did have to replace a couple bolts that had loosened up, but other than that things were fine. Of course now I have a really messy area right in the middle of where it shouldn't be and I will have to wait a while before I can actually fix it. Hopefully the ground will freeze before the next snow.

I am having trouble with one of the macs that I bought, trying to do a clean installation and it failed midway, now I am stuck in this endless attempt to recover over the internet and it fails every time. I now have a second Mac hooked directly to it trying to wipe the firmware and restore things, never done this before and not too excited about it. :(

I can’t make this **** up, it isn’t windy, it isn’t snowing, it isn’t icy, but both the Hill and the Salvage garage have no power. No problem, except it is 3 degrees outside, heading lower. Might have to take a trip and setup a generator.
