Strouty, glad that things were not as contentious as you anticipated.

But you really need to at least physically untangle your stuff from his buildings and sheds. Moved to the Salvage Garage. I think that might take a lot of stress off you.

Even if that means buying or building more storage there.

Good luck.

And it would take away some of the father's leverage too.

Unfortunately for me, I really want to buy the Hill, if I can get a proper agreement worked out, then I will push forward, if not, then I move on. The Salvage Garage isn’t going anywhere regardless, but I just can’t give up my dream yet, I was being the paranoid one and he proved it. Along with that he was also steadfast about making the deal for me to have the Hill, so I need to give it a bit more time and effort.

In reality he is totally correct on all his assumptions, I have NEVER claimed to be a finisher, I used to employ finishers just for that reason. I do think he handled it poorly and it would have been some serious good faith to work with me instead of actively trying to destroy my character. In his book, I couldn’t get it done and he did. I generally look at things differently, but there have been times I have acted in the same manner, at least I come by all these traits honestly.

I have been going over things and I think that this year is going to be a very bad year overall. If I can work things out with my Dad for the Hill, it will solidify things and make me at least feel better about all the effort that I have put forth, but I am not going to be able to spend a lot of money as there just isn't a lot of extra money to spend. I will be bringing some things to the auction, but no guarantee what those items will bring in for money. I need to stop spending money, period. I have several projects that will need money to finish and at this point I am not sure where that money is going to come from as my current income and expenses are going the wrong direction and last year I dipped into funds that I didn't want to for the gravel at the Salvage Garage. I am going to have to get creative, that is for sure. Luckily I have people that owe me work, so I can collect on some of that, but the parts and supplies will be the problem. I just started looking over my lists and some of the "simple" projects will average about a grand in parts, the more involved ones will be several thousand dollars. I think if I sell, swap, and scrap things I can offset these costs. The good thing is that in October things will change for the better, one of my major expenses goes away and I will have a significant amount of money to put into projects again. In reality that is only 6 months away and with the office project and my elbow, I already have a lot going on.

Perk needs to be inspected, technically I need to change out my air brake slack adjusters to do that, but the guy that stickers it didn't notice it last year, so I may be OK, if not, could cost about $400 (including inspection sticker). The Muv-All trailer should be OK for now, but the rear rams will need to be rebuilt later this year, they leak enough that I do not think it will take an inspection sticker again. The Cat V-80 forklift needs the injection pump worked on so I can sell it at the auction. So Perk needs to be inspected for sure, that is the first thing that has to be done. The clutch/trans swap is going to have to wait another year, luckily I do not see needing to go on any long road trips, just a few back and forth trips from the Hill to the Salvage Garage. I will have to make one more trip to and from the tower site to finish up any loose ends once the town has done the inspections.

The Mitsu needs to have a few hydraulic hoses replaced, the seat needs to be fixed (the base is broken), hydraulic lines have to be reattached and some other minor things, will probably cost about $500 for the hydraulic lines.

The Hyster needs some labor (and maybe parts) to fix the E-Brake, then the engine needs to be rebuilt, it can be done in frame and the parts could be anywhere from $500 to $1,500, I have not been able to find the engine ID yet, once I know that, I can get my numbers figured out. This will need to be done, otherwise it will only be able to be used for maybe 10 minutes every hour or so.

The Tru-Hitch needs to have almost all the rams rebuilt (makes sense to do them all at the same time), luckily I have all the seals already. It also needs almost all the hydraulic lines replaced, unluckily, I don't have those. I think it would make sense to do the hoses at the same time as the rams since they will essentially have to come off anyways. I should be able to buy hose and fittings in bulk, then borrow my Brother's tool to make them myself. One good thing is they are all the same diameter hose and same basic style fittings, making them myself should be both a good experience and save a significant amount of money. I figure $1000 for that.

I hope that Clark will keep on moving, technically it needs the main ram rebuilt as the oil bypasses internally, the forks drop pretty quickly. I still haven't found the exhaust manifold, actively working on that one, if I find a manifold, it will probably cost around $500 by the time it is shipped.

I do have to get the XC70 going, would like to get it done to help save some money and get me a more dependable daily driver. I do not expect that to cost much more money, I have already bought the parts, just have to do the labor. I can technically use the dealer plate for the time being, so no registration costs at this point.

I know my math with labor is always off, but the parts and supplies are usually pretty accurate, looks like if I budget $5k to get these things done I can most likely make it happen. Hopefully some of my items being sold at auction will offset most of that, I have a good chunk of money sitting in scrap (copper and wire), just need to prep it.

Sounds good so far. Just remember that your time estimates are always out by a factor of at least 4(just like everyone elses) so don't get disheartened when it doesn't all happen as quickly as you want it to.;)

Strouty sounds like a plan. In reality, a purge/sale a thon would go a long way in relieving some of your stress and the mountain of stuff you have to deal with. With the added benefit of some extra cash. Try not to get caught up in the "well if I just fixed this up some I'd be able to get more $" story.

Focus on the main projects and let some of the other stuff become some one else's project/problem.

regardless, hang in there and keep moving forward.

The only item I need to fix before the auction is the forklift, it literally pours diesel fuel out as fast as you can imagine, not fixing that, well I would be better off keeping it. I do not think it is going to be too bad, but if it is, it is. If I end up with too much money into it, I may have to sell it on my own rather than letting it fly at the auction. Fingers crossed it is just a simple fix.

Today I had to swap the FIRST tank of water, almost made the entire winter on one tank, way better than expected. I realize that I am not living up here, so no way would that be the case, but at least I don't have to worry about filling the tanks again, there is almost a thousand gallons of water left.

Today was kind of a cleanup day, did laundry, cleaned up some of Chucks stuff, made him more smoothie cubes. This weekend was actually fairly productive, not the normal feeling, I think the thought of Spring and the snow melting away is bringing me back from the edge.

I was with you until you said the time change. My body still hasn't adjusted. I ABSOLUTELY HATE the time change. THe fall change isn't even half as bad.

I don't particularly like the time change either, I wish they would set it 30 minutes (in between the two) and leave it alone, that would make everyone equally unhappy.

I have my first PT today, we will see what they say and do. I am expecting to get a recommendation on wrist braces and other things.

I have a full office day, but will only have half the day to get it done.

I am not sure how much PT I can take, I do not wear masks well and they are required still. Just imagine if someone said that wearing your underwear on the outside of your clothes would protect you from STDs and pregnancy, everyone would do it.

Strouty, reasonably certain that if you start wearing your underwear on the outside of your clothes, your chances of getting an STD or someone pregnant are reduced significantly. :lol_hitti

My dentist is mask optional also, a Doctors appt a month or 2 ago was not.

I don't like the day or 2 of the spring forward but being light out later is good for my demeanor. The dark out at 3.30pm gets me after awhile. You would think being dark out later in morning would help me sleep in but no as you can see by when I post on here :)

It isn't just the states, some of the medical groups have decided to keep masks going on their own.

My early rising tendencies get hampered during the winter, if I get up early, well it isn't good. Our house is tiny and with three cats, basically I get up, then because I am up doing things, they wake up my GF, she can't go back to sleep because I am doing things, rinse and repeat. Once it is warmer out, I can get up early, then leave the house with little to no impact on her. This is one of the reasons I really would like the Hill to work, I would be able to leave the house and do something with almost no repercussions.

I hate starting late, it makes me feel like the day is over and I should just go back to bed. Today is a moderate day, I have found that I can get up at 5 and as long as I leave the house by 6 it doesn't effect the household much at all. My tendency to stay late makes that into a long day, the other night I got home around 9 and I felt all 15 hours of it, worst part is I still don't go to bed until 12am or so. Another few weeks and I suspect all things will even out and the feeling of productivity may even creep back into my life on a semi regular basis.

At the risk of causing a commotion, my wife and daughter have a bunch of girlfriends they have brunch with every wed. They are all sick with the 'rona right now. And not the first time round. My wife and daughter did not get it. We all had it last April. We did not follow the state-approved guidance (read that any way you want) and they all did and are militant about it. Interesting how natural immunity works.

Perfect..

I have been working on getting my electricity bills under control, should have done this in January, but the rates were all over the place and they have now stabilized a bit. If you don't make a choice you get "standard offer" (almost 18 cents per KWH) I am finding 13 cents and below, but they all have fine print or some other thing that gets you. I think I have found a compromise and it is one of the local companies, with local support. I only need to make a spread sheet with all the info for all the locations, then they can swap things for me easily. Should be a good monthly savings overall.

Next, I need to do some errands, then go to the Salvage Garage and get my summer tires for the Blurb, I don't think the studded snows are going to do me much good from here on out. Friday I am pulling the sander out of the F-350, I have a lot of stupid little things that need to be done that are going to take up a ton of time, but like I said, they have to be done.

It went up about 48% from last year, across all the accounts it gets painful quick.

On a maybe good note, I think I found an exhaust manifold for Clark, it dumps the exhaust differently, but it should allow for the current intake and carb to be used. There should be enough room for the change in exhaust and dealing with that will be much easier than having to remake all the throttle linkages and fuel lines. I am already blowing apart my repair budget, but I don't think that I am going to find another manifold like this one.

I am off to register some trailers and reregister the Blurb, that won't help the budget any. :(

I almost have enough room to get the summer tires down, then I can get them loaded up, probably going home afterwards, if I go back to the Hill, well it will be a long night.

Pretty much all those totes and about another dozen have vintage video games in them, I range from Atari 2600 to PS1, with a smattering of newer stuff. I can't wait to have a place to actually display things, I used to have a large collection in the living room at the house, actually had several systems hooked up to play, but space and priorities have changed. I have a collection of the new mini versions too, those are pretty cool and they can be hacked to play lots more games, just haven't had the ambition. I really need to setup at least a small display. Always thought it would be cool to make an accent wall lined with Atari 2600 games, someday (just not this someday!).

I got all the tires loaded, even made room for some more things I needed at the Hill, plus the pallet for the tires. Now that I have the trailers registered, I will use one to bring the snow tires back to the SG, then they can go up on the racking and be out of the way for another few months.
