It is a 50”, looks like they are made for those articulating sidewalk tractors. It is just a 3 point hitch design, so I suspect it could be made to use on a tractor fairly easily. Local place has a used one for $7950.

I will be busy the next two days, that is for sure. I have about ten more things at the auction to pick up.

On a super great note, all the loader tires I brought over from the Hill sold, four of them went for $5 each, two went for over a hundred each. I was just glad they went, they would have cost hundreds to get rid of.

Well, the bollards, I got bad info for sure, but no matter what I would have still bought them. They could be as new as 1980. I am still super happy as they are a piece of Maine history that will probably never be replicated again. I am very happy that I could buy them, you don’t usually find stuff like that at the auction.

I am over at the Salvage Garage, had to swap vehicles out, thinking I will probably just use the blurb and dump trailer to go and get the rest of the stuff, will be two trips, but I will save time not having to strap every last thing down like I would using Perk or the ramp truck.

I bought a banding cart and tools, it has much, much larger banding than I currently have. The plan is to use that to band the rotted spools of guy wire together so they don't come apart anymore when moving them. When the wooden spools rot away, if you try and move what is left, generally the coil turns into a big birds nest of a mess, the heavy duty banding should keep that from happening. You can see the difference in size, glad I found this setup, my tools wouldn't even touch this stuff. I think it is 1 1/4" wide banding.

Also got some tow mate lights, four of them are wireless, but have no transmitter, I paid a little more than I would have liked, but even as parts they were worth it. The larger light bars are corded design, so those should work with minimal effort. I was kind of thinking I would try and make a larger light bar wireless using the parts from the smaller ones. At least two mate is decent and they sell replacement parts, the transmitters are not cheap, but to buy the lights that I have new would be close to $1,500. I paid under $200 with taxes and fees, so even spending another $300 puts me ahead of the game. This was also just a curiosity thing, I really want to build my own wireless light bars, just didn't want to buy a new set only to tear it apart to find out what makes it tick.

I am a bit disappointed that they use scotch lock type connections inside, but it looks like there are going to be plenty of usable pieces and parts. The corded versions are $260 each, the cordless medium sized one is $410 and the pair of smaller ones is $550, of course that would include a charger, new batteries, and the transmitter, so not a totally fair valuation. The transmitter they sell is $135, I think it can be used with any combination of the lights, going to have to make a phone call for more info. Chargers are just one amp 12 volt units, just need to find the proper plug size and style, the batteries are very common, so no big deal with that. I will most likely rewire them to get rid of the scotch locks though. On top of that, I still have the single spare unit, it is a bit on the rough side, but great parts regardless.

I have the last load from the auction, I think I am just going to take it to the Hill, should save me a god 30 minutes of driving. Then I have to get Perk and head to the scrap yard, I just hope they take the load as is, I told my Buddy to pull the oil pans off the engines, but he just drained them and took the plugs out, they may tell me no and if course the engines are inside the utility body, so it will be a bit of effort to get them out.

My GF isn’t so sure, she says maybe once she sees them in person. I thought she would think they were neat too. :(

I got the scrap unloaded, number one unprepared was terrible. I did get to find out a closer weight on the Muv-All, taking off 1000 pounds for the tires and air dryer I weighed in at 38k, Perk is about 22,500, that puts the Muv-All at about 15,500. A little lighter than I expected, but Perk is underpowered. Still allows me 30k hauling capacity without being over my registered weight, per axle weight distribution might be another story. ;)

I got to talk with Tow Mate about the wireless lights, those guys are awesome and the product is well worth the money. They offer a lifetime warranty on all electronics, as long as you didn’t cause the damage. I am now sourcing some transmitters so I can test things out, I got some new batteries for the smaller lights this morning. Hopefully I can make something work, definitely have a good selection of parts.

I slept in today.

Going to pick up the Hyster rough terrain forklift along with the little roller and trench compactor.. Hopefully, the forklift can be used to load stuff, I am bringing help, so it shouldn’t be too bad to load things even if we can’t get it running..

Blurb is leaking coolant from the front of the engine a bit, might be the water pump, I hope not, a couple of the bolts are behind the front cover, so the entire front of the engine has to come off, ingenious design. :(

The bollards are going to be unloaded in a few minutes, I think I did find a date on them, it is pretty tough to read parts of both, but it sure looks like 1861. I guess it could be a part number or 1961, but there appears to be way too much meat on bottom of the nine, I used a brass wire wheel to clean it up, didn’t really help much. I will have to do some more research, definitely like the idea of 1861 versus 1961 or the 1980s.

IMG_6160.jpeg

From this angle (above picture) it looks like a 9, but when I tilt the camera you can see the extra meat on the bottom, making it look like an 8 in person (picture below).

IMG_6161.jpeg

Then we have the other one, clearly showing an 8, but the second half of it is degraded.

The Portland Company did cast parts long after I thought, sounds like they even made parts for Nuclear power plants. I am still going to investigate more, would be nice to know more about them, that way I can forget it all as I age.

I was trying to quickly mess with the log truck, but it isn’t going very well. Nothing quick about it, that is for sure. I did find that the throttle is sticking badly, also confirmed it is getting fuel, need to confirm spark, these spark plugs look like diesel injectors, they have a waterproof, screw on plug wire. I have a new set, but I do not have time to change them today. I was hoping I could just get it going enough to move it out of the way. A couple weeks ago it fired, but wouldn’t stay running, today it doesn’t even want to fire, I do have the ignition switched on, so it isn’t that simple.

My buddy should be here soon, I am taking the intake tube off so we can spray some either in there, if it has spark, it will fire with that.

Today went pretty smooth, the Hyster P60A runs great, lifts, steers, has some brakes, tires held air, but the “oil clutch” doesn’t work. I am not even sure what it actually is, we definitely needed some more hydraulic fluid, I need to do some research and figure it out, the forklift will be a great unit once the clutch works. The roller started right up and works fine, needs to have the gas drained and maybe the spark plug replaced, other than being a bit ugly it operated properly.

Yes, the roller is on the other side, it was dark and I wanted to get home.

This morning was boring, I slept in a bit, did my laundry and researched the 6.5 water pump that I have to change in the Blurb, it is just as bad to do as I remembered. I am going to get her all the parts, including another front cover, that way I can have a lot of the stuff done and ready for reassembly, less downtime is a good thing. Pretty sure I have a new water pump as well as gaskets, I know I have most of the radiator hoses.

I am having a quick lunch, then I have a little paperwork to do, after that I plan on heading to the Salvage Garage to unload yesterday’s haul. I need to pick up a truck that I traded with my Buddy and the Muv-All is the easiest way to do it.

I ordered service manuals for both relatively new to me Hyster forklifts, found the parts manual for one, but not the other, then found an owner’s manual for the big Clark that I haven’t picked up yet.

I am trying to break everything down into small bites, I have a lot to do and not a lot of time to do it in. :(

Time to start unloading and making more of a mess, I really need to spend a day cleaning up things at the SG, all I have been doing is either hauling stuff in or hauling other people's stuff away for them. In theory the taxes for the business are officially done as of tomorrow, so that should make things a bit more reasonable on the office end. I am also totally current with all the books on all six companies, I don't even think it was that way when he had a 30 hour a week secretary working in the office. At least I feel better about things, like I said earlier, I am taking things one bite at a time. Along with some Advil and Tylenol...

That water pump ***** as the gaskets behind timing cover may leak if you don’t pull it which you obviously know. Also you have to pull drive off IP. It’s not fun, generally water pumps **** to change.

I am not really looking forward to it. Doing the job will be better than losing the engine or being stranded somewhere.

The Hyster P60A started up on the first crank, no choke, putting like a kitten. I did have to boost the battery, but it has been sitting for more than 20 years (luckily inside). The fuel tank is horrendous and will need to be removed, cleaned, then sealed. It looked like a forest of fuzzy rust, we didn’t even try to use that tank, we just used a portable can.

IMG_6188.jpeg

I am going to barely get unloaded and shuffle everything before dark, should be able to do everything I need to for the night, I hope. ;)

One of my Buddies stopped by tonight and kind of killed my daylight, I just finished loading things up, then I tested the wired towing light boxes, the newer one with LED lights worked the way it should, the other one had three lights out, they are incandescent bulbs anyways, so I would be swapping them out regardless.

The Hyster P60A decided to not run well, so it is waiting in the middle of the yard for some investigation. I am going to do a better cleaning of the points, then I will setup a small fuel tank with an electric pump. I think the carb needs a good cleaning, seems that if I tap it, the engine will run for a bit, but then it quits like it is running out of gas. I need some fuel line and a clear filter so I can see what is going on. It has a manual engine driven pump that may be bad.

I am pretty sure a real road trip will put it close to 19, it has 3.73 gears, the middle of the range. The ones with 3.42 gears would see a bit over 20 on a road trip.
