Been a long day, but I got things situated so if we do get snow I won’t be too bad if I need to plow. Of course I don’t actually have a plow for the Hill since Dad has taken the F-350. This storm shouldn’t be too bad anyways, but who knows. Got to get back up in a few hours for the next day if fun.

Almost home, I am at least into the rain and out of the snow. It was 4.5 hours there and will be 6 hours home, 130 miles of hills, snow, and idiots makes for some fun. Had a couple hills where I was down to 25 MPH because people would cut me off and slow me down enough to kick me out of Perk’s power band, can’t wait to get the 18 speed installed, also have to change the rear end gears, should make things a lot better.

Oh, and the manufacturer rep was wrong, the forklifts are not all wheel steer, just rear, but they seemed to be as good or better than Clark. We will see, the forks are tiny, apparently these had one skill set, they hauled big bang sticks around and then moved the boxes of ammo for said bang sticks (I think it was a howitzer, but not sure).

Made it back, rain is just turning to snow, so I was just able to make it up the Hill, not even attempting to unload, neither one has an E-Brake, so I actually need someone to push the brake pedal or things will get out of control quick. That is my first order of business, get the E-Brakes working, well, I am going to unload them first. ;)

One ground hog is two too many. ;)

Chuck is still getting up to eat and use the bathroom, I rarely catch him up and about now. I do go in almost daily and let him know I am still here, have to move the blankets and then he gets a back rub and some verbal reassurance, I could pull him out, but I figure why wake him up for no reason. His little nest keeps him super toasty, and I know he likes the warmth.

We got a little bit of snow at my house, sloppy messy stuff, the Hill has a few inches and with the weather it might take a bit to get rid of it, looks like next week is going to be back to 40s and maybe even some 50s.

Going over to the Salvage Garage with the ramp truck, hopefully less snow there, but not holding my breath. Need some pallet racking and in theory I may have help, so might do a bit of shop cleanup. This afternoon might unload the new forklifts, I need to get on the parking brake repair ASAP, right along with the rest of my ASAP items…..

Round here All the marinas sell "off road diesel" but it's at least $1 MORE than the gas station. Other than that off road diesel is hard to find apart from delivery.

Red diesel, never heard it called “off road “
The term basically describes the fact that it is not taxed for road use. In the case of marine diesel it may or may not have additives but although it isn't taxed at source it's taxed for retail sales right at the point of sale. Fishermen and other commercial users can get it tax free.
Construction and agriculture can actually get real untaxed fuel.

It is not at every gas station, but pretty common, generally about 55 cents cheaper than regular diesel, it all depends on the location. Diesel fuel prices run rampant around here, I see it as high as $4.60 and I pay $3.99, off road was $3.49 last time I filled up and heating oil is all over the place too.

Today was a mix of things, even had time to buy something, something that wasn’t a forklift, something that had nothing to do with a forklift.

I wish I had taken some before pictures, but I am sure you guys remember that you could hardly walk from one end to the other. We only took two things out of the shop, a cart and a few pieces of aluminum channel iron, tomorrow should get the rest of the **** managed, then I can slowly go through things and really start organizing.

Off road is all over the place up here, it’s heating oil in the summer as all oil products here are low sulphur. In the winter kero is mixed in for congealing issues. Yesterday I was at a station where on road, off road and heating oil were all the same price, 😳

Trying to find 24 volt grid heaters for the 4BT Cummins, they seem to be the same as the 6BT, problem is, when I search 24 volt everything talks about 12 valve vs 24 valve engines. I have been trying to keep my keywords specific, but google just seems to think it knows better. I am going to call a couple suppliers this week to see if I can scrounge part numbers for some 24 volt ones. I think that would make starting the new forklifts much easier, even the one with "good" batteries wasn't really turning over fast enough to start this morning and the military manual just says to use the cold start either button, I am not even sure what is left of that system, but I would prefer to stay away from either, metered or not.

I have the floor jack in that color from harbor freight, I will see if I can get a good picture of them together. I suspect it is really close.

I will search that PN tomorrow, thanks for trying regardless.

HaHa, I was on my phone looking at the pictures, now that I am on the computer I can see that the harbor freight jack is right next to the sandblast cabinet. I will give an in person opinion later today, but from the picture it looks like it is essentially a dead match for the color and that is what I remember.

We are having another cold day, guess tomorrow will be even colder, then it is going to warm up for the weekend with some rain Sunday into Monday. Looking at the long term forecast it looks dry and fairly warm (40s) after that, I will take it. I only need a week of decent weather and I should be able to get things to where they should have been a month ago. :(

Tomorrow is supposed to be warm with forty five mph winds.

I'm behind on my stuff a little more each day. Need to get some things consigned by Jan. 3 for a quarterly consignment auction to get them advertised. Some will go to this sale and some more to the next sale.
