Cold has set back in, I am working on draining all the waste oil from the big tank so I can swap out the drain fittings. Once that is done, then I can work on getting the old plastic tote (my current tank) out and setting things up a bit more permanently. I am not swapping furnaces this winter, but I will be doing it this summer, not worth the risk of having no heat if something goes wrong.

Well we are having your kind of weather here now about 23 here anf a fine mist then turning to
snow later 6" to 14" and winds to 45 mph tonight and tomorrow. Put ice melt down on sidewalks
and the handicap ramp for the wife if needed. Time to stay in the house and watch. Look back at
what you have gotten done this summer around your place and feel proud, I know you didn't get
as much done as you wanted but you still made good amount done, should be proud. Their in always
next spring to start again. Stay safe and enjoy the New Year.

Thanks, Spare, I am working through some of the psychological reasons things aren't getting done. It is interesting how much simple things from your childhood can forcefully rule your adult life without even being realiz..ed.

Yeah, true that, and how vigilant you have to be after you realize it so you can keep tabs on it.

Strouty, are you getting professional help on this or something else? Any insightful tips to share? (without sharing personal details, etc)
The mind is a powerful thing, and can be our own worst enemy....the struggle is real.
I'm hoping for the best for you.

I honestly don't think professionals could help, all they would do is suggest things and try and open me up to seeing what is going on. I am already on that part, it is a journey for sure, the only "advantage" to a professional would be if I was after some sort of pill and I have no interest in that.

Been fighting with my back since Sunday, not sure if it is a mental thing or not, I am out of the house at the Hill now, but I can tell I won't be here for too long. I hope to be back to it by next week, gotta love open ended problems that have no way to diagnose what the actual issue is. ;)

Lack of sunlight gets me, I start having a bad spell around Thanksgiving, generally stays with me until February. I've tried sitting under these special lights supposedly they help but I haven't noticed any help from them.

I find keeping busy staves off the winter blues. Though this week, literally waiting for paint to dry in the middle of a confused mess, is killing me.

I turn up the shop lights. I flip everyone of them on and it helps.

I also find treating myself occasionally during the dark days helps. Little things. Getting my eyebrows done, going to the museum, making a day trip to see something, buying a hat.

The combination keeps me away from chemistry and the blues.

I actually do my own eyebrows as I had some skin cancer removed and it took about a third of one of my eyebrows with it. If I don't trim them, one side comes to a point and then fades away to almost nothing. Also most hair trimmers have an attachment that allows for this as well. So in a way, I guess Kay is not wrong...

I used gasoline to light a big burn pile once, I heard the same noise and then I couldn't open my eyes, I had melted my eyelashes together and had to break the charred remains apart to get my eyes to open all the way. It burned a bit of all the hair on my head, even nose hair and that really smells bad for a long time too. Best part was my Dad was the one that handed me the gas and matches, parenting at its finest.

But now you know, instead of having to be told twice!

It's like a rite of passage. Have you even lived if you haven't stared up in awe at the mushroom cloud of rolling red, orange, and black flames you created? What's life without knowing the sudden panic at the realization someone probably called the fire department because that black smoke from the two old tractor tires buried in that pile is visible from the next county over?

You're supposed to walk maybe 20 feet from the burn pile, dribbling gas the whole way. Then you light the dribble.
Like "the old way" swimming lessons. 😉
A friend knocked me off a dock into the river. It's how she was taught. It's how our whole little group of animals learned to swim.

You're supposed to burn tires at night, they don't make any smoke that way. ;)
