Need to buy one more shelving unit so I can add three more shelves to this.

Still won’t fit all the movies. The plastic totes have about 70 in each one. The cardboard banana box has more, but all DVDs. There are five or six of the plastic totes that have supplies in them or are a mix of stuff.

How's the scanning project going? On standby? I scanned all my collection years ago, and it took me months to get it done. That was also only in the neighborhood of 800 or so movies, I cannot imagine trying to scan 4000. At this point I am pretty sure I have more television shows than movies. I need more hard drives if I am going to pump my numbers up!

I am back at the Salvage Garage, picked up the last set of shelves so I can at least finish those, also grabbed some totes with movies that I didn't realize had movies in them. ;)

I have about 2000 backed up, but some of that is the same movie in different formats. I am closing in on my hard drive limitations, so I will have to actually start to consolidate things. I also have hundreds of TV series, so plenty of content for everyone! I have been trying to find Junkyard Wars, but it is essentially relegated to crappy copies either from TV or some bootleg rip of a VHS tape. I have been able to source some of the Scrapheap Challenge seasons on DVD, but I have had to ship them almost all from Australia of all places. I would have thought it would be something easy to get in the UK, but nope.

I have just over 100 TB of backups so far, got a little more than 20 TB of space left. The 4K/UHD discs are the big space wasters, I am almost done with those, but more keep arriving in the dang mail, going to have to shut that faucet off so I can catch up. It is tough as the Steelbooks (that is what Ia m really collecting) are cheapest by preordering them, after that, all bets are off. A steelbook might be $30 at release, but if you don't get it then, it could go to $70 in a heartbeat. I would like to be the one selling them for $70, but the move is really going to hamper my selling abilities.

I don't think anyone should have this many movies, it is a PITA, especially when you have to move them all.

It is a bit chilly today, luckily I have some inside stuff to do so it won't be too bad. Of course there is enough office work to last me 24-7 for the next year...

At least the snow storm that is coming in on Saturday looks a lot better than the initial reports, we are looking at 4 to 8", northern Maine could see 16" out of this one. I need to slow down a bit, getting out of bed this morning was just a little rough.

That's good visible progress, and great work on setting things up to be organized! Keep up the good work, and don't get sidetracked by worrying about doing any backups or electronics. You got them moved, they look pretty organized, onto the next thing!

I like the wire shelving... I have several of those myself.

You can send that snow to South Dakota... we are severely lacking in snow, and we could use it!

Keep up the good progress!

I understand everybody needs a hobby but what in the world are you going to do with 4000 movies and why convert them? for who? What's the endpoint?
I am not keeping 4000, but converting them is something I do want to get done. There are actually two hobbies going on at once. I collect steelbook movies (special tin cases), and I enjoy learning about digitizing content. I have made custom multi drive setups to rip the movies faster, that was an interesting education, I am always trying to learn more as I go. At some point I am going to enter into the world of servers, that will be another hobby that will fit in with this current endeavor. Some people collect baseball cards, I collect movies and forklifts...

Sounds interesting, I had to look up steelbook movies.

I think I have one more trip after the load that is in the truck now, then all the movies will be in one place. After that I am going to concentrate on the DVD/Blu Ray ripping supplies and parts, also get the 3D printer over there as well. I am going to try and set that up so that I can actually use it. Only doing one trip tonight, no sense in being too late, it is Valentine's Day and I haven't hardly seen the GF this week.

Another chilly morning, storm is still predicted for tonight with 4 to 8" and a mix of sleet/freezing rain. I am going to try and free up a few pieces of equipment from the frozen depths, also will be taking a few trips to the Salvage Garage, would really like to get all the movies moved from the Hill.

I do have it, definitely a funny one. Just pulled another 120 from my house, now I am loading what I hope is the last of them from the Hill, will have to work on the ripping equipment and supplies after that.

I reassessed today’s plan and decided I would be better not doing some of the equipment moving. If I wait u til after the next storm I will have four days to deal with things before we have another storm, if I deal with things today, I also have to worry about the storm tonight. Just seems like too much work for almost no gain. This is only for the Hill, at the Salvage Garage I can move some things and actually gain ground by doing that, so I will put in the effort over there.

All the movies are loaded and ready to go to the SG, one part of a million complete. Next trip will be 3D printer and all remaining computer parts and supplies. I am headed to the SG in a bit, hopefully I can get Clark out of the snow bank, plan is to move a few things, then park it inside so it will be ready to use as I bring things from the Hill.

Definitely not able to bring another load over until I put some stuff away, the Salvage Garage is plugged up pretty tight. Going to work on it for a bit after it gets dark, then I can decide if I am bringing another load over or if I am calling it quits for the night. Some of that depends on when the snow starts too, either way I am leaning towards being done transporting for tonight.

It isn’t that cold, teens, but the wind is making it feel a lot colder. Except you would think it was warmer, my neighbor was snow blowing in shorts.
How much snow did you get? Your neighbor must be crazy...snowblowing in shorts!

Here in SD we woke up to -18F but no snow. Thank goodness for the heated garage/shop.

Good luck on your day, besides snow removal, what's on the agenda?

Total snowfall is really tough to say, with the wind gusting to 40 MPH it was all over the place, I feel like it was about 8" based on the plow bankings at the street and the sheltered places I plowed seemed to be about that deep.

-18 would definitely keep me inside.

I shuffled the military forklift out of the shop, so I could get the 3500 inside, I need to change the thermostats on that and see if I get full heat again. That is my only real issue right now, temp comes up to 180 and stays there, 195 is really where it should be, amazing that 15 degree difference can essentially freeze you out of the cab.

I am going to call it quits for today, 7 hours of plowing and shoveling is enough for me. I will have to finish the detail work on Wednesday when there is supposed to be no wind and upper 20s for temps. Tomorrow is going to be mostly office work as moving things has kind of put off things more than I expected. I am hopeful that we aren't getting another storm this week, but we will see. I have room for maybe two more storms at the Salvage Garage, after that, I am going to be in trouble as I will be blocking things in that I really don't want to block in, like doors...
