Thanks Dan, looks like I am done with the shop for a bit. The surveyors got the info that I needed, so I am back to the tower project for a while.

No real shop updates, I haven't even been there for more than a few minutes this week. I did get a frantic call from my Snap On driver, he said they delivered the new workstations, so now I am going to pick the other cabinets up on Friday, so the shop will be restocked to the gills with more Lista. :eyecrazy:

I am actually looking forward to these cabinets, the stainless tops are the best part. I also think that these will be worth stacking, they are a bit smaller than the other cabinets, so they will fit better too.

These new cabinets have a much better chance of being sold, at least the majority of them. I am curious to see how the stainless tops are built, they may be perfect to use for custom workstations. There is even a chance that I will end up with some vises and a few extra cabinets, I won't know until Friday.

Depending on the hight and depth of the case, I might be interested in one of the door cabinets to build into a bench. I wouldn't need the top.

You know me, these things are going to fly off the shelves. There was one tech that wanted one, so I will probably make a deal with him as well.

Just started, once again it will be a two day event, the installers are going slow and the techs want to leave. No big deal. The cabinets are much heavier than I thought they would be, even after removing one shelf and the stainless top, they are still too heavy for me to move easily by myself. I have two in the back of the suburban and we will be bringing a trailer or two tomorrow to get the rest of them.

It was free, so I figured I can sell it on craigslist or at the auction.

I was looking at the new cabinets and they have the same innards as the other cabinets, the oddball cabinet that I wasn't sure I was getting has the proper width drawers, this means I could add a couple of drawers, then still have some open shelves. I would have to remove the doors, but there are a couple that the doors are badly dented, so I may try that. I also got to thinking, maybe I can add the two sliding doors to the other cabinet, so I have a taller combination of drawers and doors. The good thing is now I have several stainless workstation tops that can most likely be used in the new storage wall setup. I am getting more optimistic about things all the time.

Nice... the party continues. Did I miss you talking about the SS tops? How solid are they?

The Snap On installers had one bench that was 2" too tall, it had to fit under something mounted to the wall that wasn't easy to move, they wanted to just cut the legs off. I told my Snap On driver that I would help him remake them, I also told him that I thought the Lista legs were the same, turns out they were, except shorter. With a few modifications we installed the older Lista feet and the cabinet will now fit. I didn't get any pictures of what we did, but Snap On had welded the threaded feet to the bolt on plates, so I had to use my die grinder to get out enough weld so I could get the feet out. Then the Lista feet were setup different, so I had to cut part of the outside leg away so the threaded part would go into the Snap On plates, then I welded them in, just like Snap On did. The feet must be made by the same company, because they were almost identical.

You know strouty , I don't go too far into this eastern philosophy stuff, but I do believe there is something to feng shui, with you getting the whole shop listafied, the common theme and consistent look of all your storage will make you feel more at home when you are there. My opinion anyway..

It may just do that.

I always wanted to paint everything so it matched. This kind of shows me what it would feel like.

The plan is to head over to the shop soon, I have to clean up a few of my messes and then see if I can do a bit of organizing and even some labeling. The new cabinets had all kinds of stuff in them.

A lot of the oils are Mercedes Benz products, so I want to try and sell them to someone that can use them. I have never shipped oils before, not sure there is an issue, so it may be a great eBay addition.

All of the stainless tops need to be removed and then the doors have to come off, then the shelves can come out, then they get a bath, the inside of these are filthy. I also have to figure out what price point they should be listed at and get them on Craigslist.

This is the odd cabinet that is the same width as the new ones. I didn't really want it for the stockroom as it would make an odd dimension for the new storage wall rack. Adding some shelves to the new units seems like the best option to me.

Then the thing that I liked the most, was the two catalogs I found in the shipping desk.

I am at the shop, need to fight the overwhelming feeling that paralyzes me. Constantly working on that, I really think it is all about TMI, meaning information overload. I am trying to cut back, but man the way we are these days, it is pretty hard not to become overloaded.

Just go do something, even if it's not right.:lol_hitti as long as it's good shop time.
It's easy to get overwhelmed both physically and mentally.

Man, you sure picked up a lot of bonus items in this deal. I'm enjoying it.

Strouty quickly shred and burn the Lista books before they drag you in, they are a deep dark hole you may never escape from.

I have been trying to clean off flat surfaces, I am digging out my label as we speak, things are getting way too confusing with the shear amount of drawers that I added in the last month.

I was thinking about putting them in the bathroom. :dunno:

I found some really cool ways to use the storage wall, plus I am getting proficient in the sizes that are available. I know it is all available online, but it is so much better when you have a catalog.

I am working on categorizing things based on certain areas, so near the welder, I am trying to put the welding supplies, then I have branched out to grinders and supplies. I am looking at my cordless tools next.

The funny part is that the first thing I think I am going to put labels on is my Snap On box, I am actually lost with it and right now it is driving me crazy when I search for something.

I know the feeling, I built the Steevo style tool bench over a year ago and at times I still have to open several drawers to find the right one, now I have added 4 bottom rollers for machinist tools and tooling and it is driving me nuts.

Tomorrow I have to go pick up some online auction purchases, 75 reamers, more end mills and a few other things that will all have to find a home.

I am going to build a new stand for the lathe with a lot more storage in it than the current one to keep lathe specific tools and tooling in, then I just need to figure out what to do for the mill and drill press tools and tooling.

Good luck with that haul, the closest I have been to that is finding all this stuff in my new cabinets. While it is a rush, I don't miss it as much as I used to. My problem is I don't even have any real areas setup yet. I just have a mass storage, once I get using some equipment I think things will unfold and make more sense. I found that another cabinet has bound up drawers, so I am going to swap some things around to make it work more smoothly.

I am not that thorough, I put the labels on while the tape is still on the roll, then cut them afterwards. I have not had any peeling labels yet, been doing it for a few years now. I will say that I hate the labels. It makes me realize that I am truly disorganized, as nothing is near where it should be, nothing really makes sense to my mind. Hopefully I can overcome this, but for now, it just irks me.

Labeling drawers even if it's painters tape definitely makes life easier. Now that I have my main cabinets labeled, life is good.
I like the big labels. What are you using?

A Brother P-Touch series, I bought a ton of label tape a few years ago in an auction lot, turned out to be a really good investment. I will post the model number, it runs on batteries or AC power.

After looking closely, I can see what you are talking about, yet, strangely it doesn't bother me.

Mine does one inch as well, I have two of those, then a handheld version, and a desktop computer version. I really only use this one, but I do swap out the tapes, I rarely use more than one size at a time.

I am working on categorizing more generally, that is very difficult for me, my brain wants super detailed labels. I have a few drawers with MISC HANDTOOLS and MISC WRENCHES. I then created one for UNCATEGORIZED and SORT ME. I think that these will help kick start my process and I can easily change things as needed.
