I am excited about the floor too. I just lugged all eight of those cabinets out back and put them in one of the storage boxes. It is still pretty hot outside, at least muggy. I need to clean up a small area so I can bring a few things inside for the night, then I can head home, hopefully before 10.

This morning, I moved a couple bungee cords, then I saw a few more and a few more. So I gathered them all up and tried to find a place for them. I was just about ready to put them somewhere, anywhere, when I remembered that in the conex there was a milk crate that had bungee cords in it. I went to the conex and put the bungee cords with the rest of my tie down equipment. Felt good to have a place for them. Now I just need a better way t store them.

These mini wins have greater motivational power than any of the big stuff. I can relate 100%.

I think you are correct, in reality any big project is just a series of mini wins until you decide to stop and admire it.

Still have some work to do, more stuff has to go out to the conex and other boxes, but it is shaping up pretty nice. Not bad for 100 hours of work.

Is that too many?

One is an indoor fork lift and one is an outdoor lift, correct?

And the outdoor lift can't make it into the shop, correct?

I think your good there. The pallet jack is for the light stuff that is bulky but easy to move. The fork lifts are for big stuff. I plan to get a moderate sized fork lift when I build or buy a place with my dream shop... mine will have outdoor tires though so it can serve both purposes... but I will still buy a pallet jack too.

Boiler, you are correct about the forklifts. The funny part is the pallet jack will actually pick more than the forklifts, go figure.

The walls in the stockroom have been hidden for a very long time. The best part is that this is giving me a really good feel for the space that I will have when everything gets shifted. I may actually be able to make the stockroom smaller than I originally thought. I really need to work on my sketch up skills. Even if I just do a semi scale drawing, it would be better than nothing.

The Lista cabinets need to be shifted a bit, I tried moving them so the rows would be narrower and I do not like it. I think the best way for me it to have an aisle that is almost 5' wide. That way I can have drawers from either side open and still have some maneuvering room. It looks like it will fit the floor plan pretty well and I know once the storage wall uprights are in, I will be able to rearrange as needed. For now I am going to bring one more of the cabinets into the stockroom, then the flammables cabinet is going on the short wall near the front door. I have to move the red wall cabinet to do this, otherwise it would already be done. I am also going to mount the small white cabinet from the stockroom in essentially the same place, except it will be bolted to the side of the double stacked Lista instead of to the end of the shelving. I hope to get some time over there tomorrow afternoon, I think I can get a lot done in a fairly short time, now that I am on a roll.

Yes, but did you find FIVE sets of 20" bicycle tires in your garage when you pulled old Cat5 to recycle? We don't even have any more 20" bikes... I kept one set for the bicycle trailer that I still use occasionally for picnics and such... but 5 stets? WTH was I thinking?

2 sets were... a local camping/hiking/bike shop closed. Got four tires for $12.

The others were accumulated as we tried different tires to make it easier for my son to ride the bike when he was smaller.

Today was another hot one. Did nothing at the shop as of yet. Will attempt to get some things together for goodwill. I am trying to go to dinner with the GF, they have two pound tacos on special and I am hungry.

Friday may be dead too, but this weekend should be pretty busy. I will update as I go.

I did not go to the auction, so I have no idea how much things sold for. I spent the first part of the day assembling one of the tower sections for the job I have been permitting. We need to fabricate brackets for cables and climbing ladder as well as upgraded bracing for the tower itself. I am only on the design end, someone else will be doing the fabricating.

Well I went to the auction. One quick walk around (and saw your cabinets) before I got in the line to get a number, and decided to skip it. Now if you had some drawer units there....
There were a few items that were scattered from one end to another that I might be interested in and that would have meant an all day to watch and then probably still walk away empty handed. Folks these days get auction fever and pay for it.
Hope you did well today with your sale!

Me too. I have always figured auctions like that as an all day thing. Buy too much and it can be a two day ordeal.

Hopefully this afternoon I can get something done. I want to try and fill the burb with scrap, I can take it Saturday morning on my way to the shop. There is a lot of wire that needs to be dealt with.

I was going to squish something with the excavator, but decided it would make more of a mess than it was worth. I took care of both fish tanks, I don’t think they will hold water anymore, but the good news is they both fit in the dumpster, with a bit of structural modifications.

My Monday job just got postponed due to possible rain, that is great, it will give me a lot more time to spend on the shop. The plan right now is to make an attempt to hit the scrap yard before they close tomorrow (noon). We will see if it even makes sense, I need to be able to have a decent sized load or it won't be worth it. Worst case, I get everything ready for a next week trip, just be nice to get rid of the wire pile.

I don't have that much patience, I will eventually build a stripper, I swear I probably have lost $10k to not stripping wire over the years. I saw one that was just two rollers and it squished the wire, the insulation would just peel off on the way out. Most of this is **** wire and not worth as much, so I need to dig out the best stuff, otherwise they will give me the lowest amount for everything.

Been there done that, I built a stripper a few years back, a block of AL with different size holes to match wire sizes and a intersecting hole that held a SS blade. Feed the wire through and it cut the jacket.

I had a bunch (2000+ feet) of rg11 with a solid copper core, the scrap yard would give me nothing for it, but split it open, copper in one bin and the SS shielding in another and I made several hundred $$.

I made several attempts to build one to strip phone cables I had about 1000 feet of 500 pair, ended up just removing the outer sheath and the AL shield and taking the lower price.

Right now I have 10 or 11 55gal drums of Cat5 and 6 out behind the shop waiting for the price to come up before I haul it in.

I slept like **** last night. I think I am more tired now than when I went to sleep. I must have reset my alarm three times, so now my early start is going to be a late one.

Have help for a bit and will be able to use my Brother’s dump truck to take another big load of scrap. Can’t wait to have this stuff gone.

Rushed to the scrap yard, made it a bit before they closed. I can get my Brother's truck one more time on Monday, so I hope to finish everything for the year. I still have most of the wire pile outside, unfortunately I did not catch it before leaving the scrap yard, but they gave me 1 cent a pound for something I usually get 18 cents a pound for. Luckily it was only 38 pounds, but still *****. Total for today was just under $180. A far cry from what I used to get, now I remember why I stopped scrapping.

I decided to say screw it and move the wall mount AC units by myself. They are more cumbersome than anything, but they are out of the conex. Next I need to cover them with a tarp so they can stay outside for the winter. I should have my mind made up by spring about going with new units. If I do, these will go in the spring auction. If I had only had another week, I would have just put them in the fall auction.

The only problem is I sold my trailer!

I will have to look into it, may be worth dumping the last bit of stuff that I found after this last auction.

I am just about out of here. One last thing to do, then it will make me feel like I actually got something accomplished.
