I think so, it is in pieces. I was going to replace bearings, but people seem to think it is junk and isn't worth the effort. I don't know, it cut pretty decent considering the bearings were all junk.

It sure looks like it. It's a USA made saw, my dad hade one and it cur great. It couldn't that much in bearings and would be worth the time to replace.

It makes sense to bring it inside, I figure worse case, I can slap it back together and put it in the next auction. I missed a smaller jet, they were asking $150 and it was not that old.

I did the legwork for Buck and the engine oil leaks, looks like it is a cracked timing cover, will take me a couple days to fix it, if not a week.

I am going to sub out some work on my newly acquired pickup truck, I will need it soon and I also want it down me before I tear into the burb.

I have a "Carolina" saw like that and just out of curiosity googled them and they are still around and sell the parts.

Interesting, I know it works, but it definitely needs work and parts. I got it for free, so I only have a few hours in it, mostly cleaning it.

Pines, the big problem with that statement is that you haven’t even seen all the stuff I have.

Yeah, labeling the drawers is going to be bad enough, can’t even imagine numbering individual things. Plus the tags would get pretty long, I must have a million or two items floating around.

Yup, the white stuff will get here soon enough. I hope to be ready, in fact I hope to be comfortably ready. The last few years has been a mad scramble and I ended up having to still move stuff after it snowed. That makes it much worse.

I am going to do a bit more work outside the shop today, kind of excited now that all the shelving is gone. I need to work on getting the other salable shelving out of the conex and listed on craigslist, that will give me a bunch more room. Also after wandering through one of the storage boxes, I found several things that can easily be consolidated into one space. I may work on that too. So many options!

Geez……he just had to remind us of that fact.

:bounce:

Hey, we don't usually get too cold or get a lot of lot of snow in SW Indiana, but last weekend it dropped to 41deg for the low... in October! After mid-80s two days before that I had to turn on the heat!

I have a Gravely 2-wheel tractor buried in the garage with a 4' dozer blade. My son keeps reminding me that we need to get it running before winter.

So far, I have moved three things, maybe four, opened doors, moved a truck, eaten lunch, thought about leaving (twice), and still have nothing really done. I did walk to the mailbox to put some mail out, the mailman left before I could get there. I was probably 50 feet from his truck when he dropped my mail and drove off. I have a few things to do at the house, so I may just take off, my back is screaming at me, I still am having an issue with a rib being out of place, it is hurting my back, neck, and my ability to complete tasks. I do have an appointment with the Chiropractor tomorrow morning, so hopefully we can get this worked out. He got it to loosen up, but it keeps tightening back up on me.

I will update the outside pictures in a bit, really doesn't look like much has changed, that is kind of dragging me down on the motivation front, then my afternoon help abandoned me, and my "buddy" that has 4 cars and an ambulance screwing up my yard is MIA. I think this is stressing me out more than anything, I just want them all gone. We originally agreed they would have to be out by October, he took one away, but then has not done anything since. Everyone says I am being taken advantage of, but I don't want to destroy our friendship over this. I think it hurts more that he doesn't do what he says, yet doesn't come and talk to me about it, he just ignores it. In the end, he is going to make me look and feel like a jerk, I hate that.

I feel ya, I just finished cutting up 2 old steel dock sections and loading them in the trailer to go to the scrap yard, taking a break and then we are going back out to go through the scrap pile and add a few hundred more pounds to the load.
I too need to prep the blower soon, maybe next week. that is one real nice thing about the old Ariens, only one engine to worry about for blowing, mowing and the leaf vac.

I do have to say though that it is a beautiful fall day in MN, mid 60's sun is shining and there is a nice light breeze, great for working outside.

It has been nice here as well, there is a bit more of a breeze than I like, but I can't complain too much. I am still shuffling things, baby steps, I decide to stay at the shop for the time being. I am going to move the excavator, then the bus, then the office trailer, then the crane, then the 5 ton with trailer. I don't think I have to move buck, but I will if need be. The forklift is going to be all over the place as I have lots of things on pallets that have to move. So this will be kind of like a one man heavy equipment ballet.

Hope the shuffling is going well, We got about 500 lbs more tossed in the trailer, took awhile since I had to pick and sort, there is a lot of "good" materials in the pile that I want to keep for future use.

The load is all ready to head to the scrap yard next week if I get the chance.

I was going to sell this trailer, little one 5x8 but after loading it up I decided that I am going to keep it as a scrap trailer, and just park it and fill, that way I don't have to move the scrap twice in the future.

It's not a very good trailer for everyday towing since it has no suspension, the axle is welded directly to the frame, I will have to replace the floor, it is somewhat rotted, but will work with just a new sheet of 3/4 green treated ply.

I got a bunch shuffled, not as much as I would have liked, the school bus had dead batteries. I forgot to use the disconnect after my buddy helped me move it. I pushed the ambulance out of the way with the excavator, tomorrow I will have to move the dreaded cars, still no word from my buddy, so I may have to track him down and have a talk. I was already mad that I had to move them the last time, now I am moving them again.

I am getting trailer fever, I am thinking I may need to buy one, sooner rather than later. I just want a 5x8, something to haul trash or scrap if needed, nothing to heavy duty.

Here are some pictures of the outside progress.

Inside was a different story, I have to register my new truck and then get it inspected. First I have to swap wheels from another truck as the ones on it are worn out. Then I have to pull the door panels to replace the mirrors, pull the instrument cluster to fix the gauges, and pull the driver’s seat to get the air bag module out. Also need to figure out where water is leaking from as the carpet on the driver’s side is soaked.

Told ya it wouldn't end well.

-Grumpy Guy

It isn't over yet, but I am not pleased.

what years the truck?

and does it have original brake and fuel lines.....

2004 and yes original lines. Looking to replace them all, probably going to have someone else do it. I think I can make more money by paying to have it done while I work on the tower project.

it is a miserable job if they are routed like the 2002 I have.... you have to tip the cab for the fuel line... the single bolted on fastener is brilliantly located on the top transmission bolt jammed in the firewall...

Yeah, I had a guy look at it yesterday, he just did a couple other trucks in the last month. This one will not be too bad as the truck is not nearly as rusty as most Maine trucks would be, it originally came from North Carolina.

I found a drip that soaked my carpet where I'd added a 12v power feed and new UHF CB antenna cable through the firewall grommet. The water where it drops through the engine bay under the windscreen then hit the cable and tracked into the cab. Took me ages to work it out.

I am going to have to chase it, the leak is from sitting, the truck has not been on the road in the rain for months. I am thinking weather strip issues, the windshield is another location that is common to leak. I am going to have to pull the seats and carpet to get it dry, that pad is like a sponge and the water gets wicked everywhere.

I should be back to the shop before lunch, I have two appointments this morning, i left a float charger on the bus batteries, hopefully it will start when I get back. I still have some Forklift shuffling to do, then I can land the office trailer. Since the 5 ton is so high, I may dig a trench to drive into, this will make the trailer level so I can easily load things onto it. Right now that trailer is essentially a storage platform on wheels.

If you dig a pit, it will become a frozen lake this winter, and a muddy swamp in the fall/spring.
Most of the year it will be trapped there.
You'll need an excavator to dig it out to move it.
Better to get an adjustable drop hitch for the truck to level the trailer.

You need a couple of concrete waste blocks and make a ramp

No ability for the hitch to be dropped, pit will be temporary just to load the trailer, then filled in.

And I have the hole digger thingy you were talking about.

Nope, the office trailer is pretty much fine, but the gooseneck trailer is a crazy angle and using the forklift is not possible, I tried. I just want to get a few things loaded on it, may even go through the gang boxes and organize them a bit. I know what should be in them, but I don't think they got emptied after the last project. In my opinion it is worth the effort. I plan on digging out the sandblast cabinet as well, I would like it on the trailer, that way I can get at it easier, right now the only real access is with the crane.

The other thing that I am going to attempt is to reassemble the stock racks, then I can put steel and other supplies on them, rather than having a mess in the mud. I don't want to put too much effort into it, because I will have to move them again when I finally get to grading the back area.

Still very frustrated with the cars that are not mine. One doesn't move, yet I need it to move. Will be tracking my buddy down tomorrow. Trying to maneuver around the cars has been a PITA and now I am at the point where they have no place to move to that isn't in the way. I am going to have to move them temporarily, then probably move them again.

The new rule is that no one can store things at my shop, ever. Just can't handle the aftermath.

The problem is, I have not been able to talk with him, his Dad said his phone was being replaced. I can't with a good conscience do anything until I talk with him and give him a chance to make it right. If I talk to him and he doesn't make it right, that will be a different story.
