Sweet! The DR and the F700 are great. The F700 would be awesome with a custom utility bed. Your description of it is perfect. I remember the sound of those gas F700 school buses. So distinct.

This week has been a mess, yesterday turned into a waste, never even got to the shop. Today will be the same, this weekend is a local auction that my GF wants me to go to, so probably ruin the weekend as well. Next week should offer a bit of shop time, but I can never be sure.

I am happy to report I did not attend the auction, so no new items! My GF did go, but she only purchased a few small things. I need to grab some tools at the shop, so I will be there at some point, just not sure when. I really need to work on my to do list as I don't have a handle on anything, I figure I can use the list as a map and work my way through things one step at a time. I just want to know I am going in a semi straight line rather than bouncing all over the place. I am slowly getting used to the new mattress, it is no where near as bad as the old one, but it is seriously slowing my mornings down. I hope it only takes me a week or two before I can sleep fine on it.

Hanging out at the shop for a while, not doing much at all, feels good just to be here. My Brother stopped by and got to see the layout for the mill and lathe, he was disappointed that I save the big drill press.

Sometimes hanging out and dreaming about what you have goin on is enough. Don't feel bad. I am not sure i would have saved that drill. Probably not. I had a lot of work in mine to get it free standing. Probably wouldn't do it again.

Thanks guys, I have been to the shop twice today, but it was only to grab parts and tools. Looks like Friday I may be able to get back to it.

Unfortunately the only mannequin I have is a guy, Rescue Randy (or Mort), luckily he is not anatomically correct. He hangs around in one of the boxes out back.

That ***** Rich, I have only had a handful of 24 hour plus workdays and they sucked. Usually trying to meet a deadline or what we call a hot cut, where the cellular carriers want as little downtime as possible, so we work overnight and get it done.

There was an eBay coupon that allowed me to save $100 on some micrometers and a bunch of bins for the Lista drawers, best part is the bins are different colors, red, white, and blue!

I had a hard enough time getting the Snap On box to cooperate with the Listas, I can't imagine the hissy fit it would through with some HF 44s. If you had some of the Daytona jacks, that would be a different story!

My bins came in, got to touch them and I put four in one drawer. Helping the GF at the house today, last couple of days have been rough, my neck and I are in a fight, but I think I see an end to it soon. This is all from the new bed and was somewhat expected, just frustrating as can be. I hope that things get better next week as this is getting old fast.

No real details, still not 100% sure if it will happen. Biggest issue is they are going to be expensive, not like the last ones.

My love hate relationship with Apple is starting to turn towards hate. The latest update swapped my camera settings, so for the last two weeks all my pictures have been in some proprietary format “to save space”, yet makes them incompatible with just about everything except the latest greatest Apple devices. Lucky for me, I figured it out, but I had to do this before and for them to undo MY settings is not proper. Anyways, all those pictures need to be converted now, if I want to share them with you guys. Pisses me off, but the good thing is that I have found some programs that may allow me to go back to my Android phone, I really want a Samsung note again. Of course I will most likely ***** about that phone too.

I have a Note 8. Love it. I put a 250 GB micro SD chip in it for pix storage.

What to do? I moved the fridge and microwave and now have a nice space for my electronics/RC bench area. I have two options, first is to just add another stainless top and have a seam in the middle l, second is to use a butcher block top to seamlessly span the entire space. I am leaning towards the wood. I do have to glue the wood top back together, as it has a split, but nothing I can’t handle.

I am so tied into the Apple ecosystem, I just don’t know if I truly want out or not. I had a note 4 and loved it, but having all Mac computers made the iPhone a great choice, then I went with an Apple Watch, then the AirPods. It just irks me, but I remember Samsung doing similar things to me.

This piece also came from another GJ member, thanks Orion! I am buying some parallel clamps tomorrow and I think I am going to use some of those biscuits to help keep it together. I like the stainless for some things, but this didn't seem like the right place for it. Besides it has character, I am kind of excited about having a dedicated space for the RC stuff, I essentially gave up the hobby years ago, but refused to get rid of the kits/parts. Now I will have to go through things and see what is still viable. Almost all the nitro engines that I looked at have since seized up, so I may have a bit of work to do on those. :(

I am at the new office still weeding through file cabinets. Been reading about my parents divorce when I was 8 and how much of a pain I was when I was 15. Some interesting stuff, been combing through files so I can shred stuff with SSN’s on it. I have gone through two more cabinets, still have almost 7 more to go and that is cabinets, not drawers. I hope by the end of the week I will have a semi functional office again.

I've been using a Samsung Galaxy since the 5. I had a couple other Android phones before the Galaxies and hated them. But the GS7 has been a great phone for me. I was forced to switch from iPhones in November of '11 when I started my new job... Took me a while to adjust and I wasn't happy until the GS5. Now I don't think I would ever go back to Apple. I love my 2011 MacBook Pro, but I'm REALLY happy with my Lenovo P51 too.

I love the open nature of Android. Just plug the phone in and move files. Music files are in their native formats... pics in their native formats... apps for everything I need... More control over the settings, etc.

My wife and daughter have their iPhones. My daughter just couldn't make the switch, though she tried... My son has the GS8 and loves it. I haven't checked out the GS9 or it's upgraded features over the GS7/GS8 yet.

I am a Palm guy at heart. I gave up on the Samsung note after the exploding ones, but I am really missing the stylus. If Apple would release something like that..... and yes I have an iPad with the pencil, it just ***** that there is no good way to carry it and you have to charge it and it doesn’t have a button to do cool things.

I am pretty well convinced that the wood is the right fit for this application. Just need to find the time to take care of it.

Samsung hasn't stung me with anything proprietary so I'll stay with them as long as possible.

The wood top is the way to go for RC stuff.

The engines will be fine. Just need to use nitro blast to get the gummed up oil out, then pull them apart and clean everything really good.

I'm starting to get back into RC too. Almost all of my radio gear is obsolete. And I have to replace all of my batteries and chargers.

At one point I bought some lipo batteries, will be curious if they still work, never charged them at all. I miss it, used to be fun, not sure if I even want to do nitro now, kind of like the looks of some of those new huge traxxas trucks. I figure I probably can sell all my stuff as vintage and end up with some cool new stuff for no out of pocket money. I have a few things that I really don’t want to sell, they just need a good place to be displayed.

I forgot to mention that I ordered another set of tires and rims for the outside forklift. The ones I bought needed rims that were going to cost about $1250 and I was ready to pull the trigger, but I found a set of oddball rims and tires from a lull or something industrial like that. There will most likely need to be some modifications to make them work as the tires and rims are wider than the current ones. I would have needed to modify the other style rims as well, so I hope it won’t be much of a difference in effort. When I am done, I will have serviceable tires and rims, no one local wanted to touch the old split ring ones. These were under $700 shipped, they are 19.5 rims instead of 20”. The tires are 15-19.5 so they will look nice, in fact I think it will make the forklift look better. I just hope I don’t need to offset them too much as I am not sure if the axles will take some crazy offset.

I won’t know how much offset until I see them. The rear axle has no brakes, but steers, the front axle has brakes (drums), but doesn’t steer. The way it is now, the brake drum is completely outside of the current rim due to the offset. It will be an interesting process I am sure, things don’t usually just workout for me.

I prefer the ease of running nitro. Of course, I'm good at tuning them and have a temp gun to check the temp on the head... But it's so nice just to pull in and refuel, then get back to running. That said, all of my RCs that I still have are electric.

The Note 8 has a stylus and it hasn't blown up yet.

An old housemate/good friend is into RC cars. He struggled and fought every nitro car he ever bought. He was almost ready to give up on the hobby until he got an electric car. He loves that thing, he sold all the nitro cars and is all electric now.

The new electric ones are unreal, 50 mph and runs for 15 to 20 minutes. I have an old Tamiya terra crusher and it has one of the best transmission designs for a nitro ever. The transmission is 2 speed with reverse, but reverse works off clutches, it will go into reverse at full speed with no damage, but the truck will flip over. I probably have enough parts to make 3 of them.

I was a big fan of Samsung notes until the hardware on my note 4 went bad. I searched and found the LG Stylo 3 plus. All the power of the note 4, with a removable battery and stylus at 1/5 the price of the note 8.

Never heard of that one, will have to check it out. Price, unfortunately, has never stopped me from buying a phone. I currently have an iPhone X with 256 GB storage. When I think about the fact that it cost more than half what I paid for my diesel suburban, it kind of makes me sick.
